  • Agree this 2011 was pretty lackluster. Not to mention was my biggest gripe of the year was the fucking picture quality of the dvd's. They suck so much and it makes me so mad. People can say what they want about gabe....but there is no way he would have produced and released all those dvd's with the garbage quality that their dvd's have now. They look like they were taped off a tv with shitty reception and then burned onto dvd. Don't really know why it makes me so mad but it does lol

  • I agree Truth Martini fucking sucks

  • Maybe Steen vs Davey for the belt at FInal Battle maybe be more interesting, also need more shows

  • I totally agree about El Generico. They really need to utilize him more. I don't think anyone has been as consistently good on the Indys, no matter what environment he is in.

  • The first two parts of this video= twenty minutes of absolute perfection. "Don't cut him slack. This is fucking Ring of Honor, man. It's do or die. You have to deliver. If you can't deliver in the ring... I don't care." That should be on a damn t-shirt or something. It is the most perfect explanation of what ROH means, what ethos it represents, and why it's so important to pro wrestling that I've ever heard. Can't wait for part 3.

  • Cornette is shit for ROH.

  • Strong is shit on the mic. End of story.

  • @SandersRobin24 I trust everything you're saying since you've been watching much longer than me. I think it definitely is possible that this is the worst year in ROH history. I only brought up 09 because I heard there was a huge slump in the second half of the year aside from the Final Countdown tour. Storyline wise this is ROH's worst year ever easily. They've abandoned the house shows in favor of this shitty TV show

  • This is why I'm" such a devoted fan of DGUSA/EVOLVE, yes they're niche but they're constantly scouting for fresh talent and up & comers and the DG guys trains them to become more well rounded workers. For ROH, the problem isn't the roster per se, but moreso the booking IMO. No matter how talented you are, you need to give fans a reason to emotionally invest in your character that is why gimmicks and charisma are so important. Briscoes get MVPs of 2011 hands down.

  • Caprice Coleman and Cedric Alexander I think are awesome. I actually think Shelton is more of the problem than Haas is. Shelton just never seems to give full effort as seen by some of his singles matches in ROH. Plus that original tag match I personally thought was made better by Haas. But either way they both DEFINITELY should not be tag champions right now. I would agree about this being the worst year in ROH history.

  • this has definetly been my least favorite year on youtube...maybe it has something to do with roh, but i really am not sure that's it

the bravados are still my favorite gimmick...they are more of a comedy team and provide some flavor to an otherwise bland roster

  • I'm not sure if I'd call this the worst year in ROH history. Going off of what I've heard, it sounds like it's possible that 2002, 2008, and 2009 were worse. 2003 also had weaker quality wrestling shows, however there was a lot more buzz. 2008 had a lot of great shows but I've heard people say that there were a lot of negative things about the product at the time. But this definitely is one of the dullest years in company history. Right now I'm the least interested I've ever been in ROH.

  • @Trademark629 , Trust 2003 blows 2011. The storylines and the promos from 2003 is insane. If you watch every show in order you'll see what I mean. 2008 and 2009 murder this year. Because of the great main events and the history that was made in 2002 I'd put 2002 over 2011. Also promos and storylines in 2002>2011.

  • @Trademark629 , I'm gonna do a part 3 later on today and just explain why it is, i know it's a bold statement.

  • When I said 10x worse the position, that has more to do with overall buzz and the importance of the shows. None of the shows sound like a big deal anymore. You can't expect people to order 3 ppv's in a row for 45 bucks. Maybe have one huge show every 3 months on PPV then release the rest on DVD. DGUSA needs to do much more with you tube promoting their shows as well.

  • @SandersRobin24 Not just that but also the short notice is ridiculous. I remember during the United weekend, Gabe announced during the week of the shows that the Friday and Saturday shows would be on iPPV.

  • @SandersRobin24 I totally agree. Ultimate gate was the last show I watched. That's just sad. I really wanted to watch at least one show in their recent triple shot, but couldn't justify it..Like many others, I chose to watch High Noon instead. I really hope both DGUSA and ROH do better in 2012..

  • @mmawrestlefan DGUSA already got better in 2011 in my opinion. Definitely left the year better then they started off. With ROH i think maybe once it gets in a grove it'll start to pick back up.

  • @Danespina Really? You would say that they improved? Their last triple shot was a set of shows with little to no build. As Sanders said, they really need to imrpove on making the shows seems special. However, if you're talking about talent, then I totally agree..

  • @mmawrestlefan I don't really follow how shows are promoted for most wrestling products. But just by watching the events, i-ppv to i-ppv, I had no trouble getting myself excited for shows, or following the stories, rivalries, and talent. Everything seems cleaner to be now then it did in the beginning of the year. I like that so much of the talent has evolved right before my eyes, and not just the american guys, but the japanese roster to.

  • @mmawrestlefan But your probably right that the build could be better, but it must be a bit tricky when DGUSA only holds events every 2-3 months. I think they are aware of the issue though, and are tying to better that aspect using the DGUSA/Evolve partnership. So who knows, maybe that will work.

  • About DGUSA... I really like the company and would try to buy all there shows if I could afford it but the problem now is that they keep running these triple shots every other month. It's kind of hard to just pick one show to order out of the three because they all seem to be on the same level. The roster is very strong but the degree of difficulty is very high to try to book these triple shots every other month while combing foreign talent with american talent. The roster is great though.

  • @SandersRobin24 the southern/mercury/ultimate triple shot can be picked up for $39 right now if you care (until tomorrow). I feel like they've more or less figured out the whole booking situation this year and I personally now enjoy the product more then ever. The one show I didn't like so much was Fearless 2011.

  • Agree agree agree, see u at final battle man

  • Sanders, I'm just curious..But what are your main gripes with DGUSA?

  • @mmawrestlefan Thought Sanders liked DGUSA. He used to rate their shows highly and they've only gotten better. Well, in my opinion they've become a more well rounded company anyway.

  • @Danespina Exactly. I really haven't watched enough recent ROH to formulate a complete opinion but from what I have seen and after listening to these videos..Doesn't sound too good. However, the DGUSA I've seen has been good to great..Not really getting how they are "10x worse" or "far worse" for that matter. May have to elaborate upon this in a video..

  • @mmawrestlefan Well there in 10x worse position in terms of budget and resources I assume. And they don't have any names or anything like that. In terms of actual quality I lately prefer Dragon Gate USA shows to ROH however. The whole group there seem more keen on delivering a kick-ass show each night, and that kind of energy can be felt back at home. If they would have got Davey Richards like they wanted, ROH may have been in extra trouble. Its still a privilege to watch that guy. So good.

  • @WWEVoice101 Yea, I was really just talking about overall show quality. I definitely agree regarding other aspects, especially concerning their distribution model..

  • Would love for Sami Callihan, Ricochet, Pac, Johnny Gargano, and AR Fox to come over. I feel like those five guys alone would give ROH a completely different vibe and spark more positive light on the company. Rich Swann has got some great character to. Kind of like a new Jack Evans, he would be great in ROH.

  • @Danespina I completely agree

  • If Bennett wins at FB there is going to be a riot.

  • @ThrashAD720 Why he'd just be winning the TV title was there a riot when Robbie E won the TNA TV title?

  • @Trademark629 Cause TNA have robots in the crowd.

  • yeah I gotta say get haas bennett cornette & truth outta there, Steen has been the most interesting thing about ROH and wasn't even there, but I agree the roster is stale as hell, if there could get gargano taylor swann callahan fox sekimoto, that would really spark my interest, but I really feel cole, elgin generico steen & the bucks have been my favorite guys as of recent.

  • Davey needs to drop the belt to Kevin Stein at the 1st iPPV of 2012.

El Genericho with that gimmick can't carry a company.

You need some bigger guys in ROH.

  • Problem with Gabe wasn't that he wouldn't book with anyone else, which I thought needed to happen 6 months before he got fired, but that he was relying to much on foreign talent when he was told to cut back on the roster. He was also flying any more guys than they could pay for when it came to shows. Also as stale as ROH is DGUSA I think is far worse. One of the biggest problems for ROH has to do with the politics in Japan they can't bring over NJPW guys and the NOAH guys are Hurt..then DG issue

  • @TSlay1974 , It's pretty obvious that DGUSA is in 10x worse the position that ROH is in. I just think with Gabe, he had more of a knack for bringing in guys that fit the ROH style. Not necessarily guys from Japan but just up and coming young indy guys. Also the last year kinds of sheds some positive light on Adam Pearce. If Gabe was getting burned out then what he should have done was just focus on talent while you could have Pearce book the shows.

  • @TSlay1974 I love the talent Gabe has put together in DGUSA. That product revived my interest in independent wrestling. I don't know what Gabe was or wasin't suppose to do, but the guy seems incredibly effective and he has to be one of the best bookers of all time. Seeing how fast he has put together, then built, what i find to be a new exciting roster of great talent in DGUSA, tells me he'd never have let ROH's pool get so shallow.

  • @WWEVoice101 foreign talent or no foreign talent.
