  • For a right handed archer the arrow usually goes on the left side of the bow.

I believe this is because the archers paradox would cause arrow clearance issues otherwise. With the thumb rings, the string would roll in the opposite direction than if it was released from a three finger grip.

Is the opposite string roll the reason the arrow is put on the right side of the bow for a right handed archer?

  • @bendotwood Yes. Since the thumb ring causes the string to roll to the right for a right-handed archer, the arrow is placed on the right of the bow. I believe that, if the arrow were placed on the left of the bow during a right-handed shot with a thumb ring, the string rolling to the right and trying to push the arrow to the left side of the bow would exaggerate archer's paradox such that an effective shot would be close to impossible.

  • 1:01 ash katchum right there

  • hi wonder if you can help, when i tried to use horn thumbring on my bow( i am a complete begginer to this archery style) when i try to draw the arrow back it wants to slip off my hand thats holding the bow and point at almost 45 degrees away from the target.it just doesnt want to stay straight!!! i am right handed but it happens wither i knock the arrow on the left or right side of the grip

  • i wish i had your bow it looks awesome :) great shooting

  • Hey! Which version of Grozer's Turkish bow is this? Is it the extra III?

  • Anyone know where this was shot???

  • @raginroadrunner Marymont, Warsaw, Poland

  • Good to see some people doing real archery, my videos on longbow and flatbow archery get shoved aside by pathetic compound archers showing how much money they have with all that cheating technology.

  • What do you think of the indo.persian grozer bow? Is this a good one and fast one for beginners ?

  • @Blutroth

The indopersian is a beautiful, but not so efficient bow from Grozer. I have a 35#/28". The siyahs are heavy and there is a massive shock while shooting. Once Grozer said me that it works better at higher poundage.

But for me, nothing beats it's shape, curve when it is drawn to 34-35"...

  • @Peeetya Hey! I'm interested in a 75-80#@31.5 Indo-Persian. When you say it might perform better at higher poundage, do you know how much better? The thing that has put me off is the handshock, I've heard bad things about that, but if it's significantly diminished at a high poundage I may look into buying one.

Got any photos of your IP bow? :-)

  • @daryush55

Sorry, I don't know much about the higher poundage version, Mr. Csaba Grozer told me about it during an open day last year. You should contact him, as IP bows are usually made for order, not on stock.

Send me a mail to kruta(at)freemail.hu and I'll send photo

  • @Peeetya

Thanks! I will ask him about it. I love the curves of crab bows, and historical horn-and-sinew ones worked very well I have heard.

Thanks, I've sent you an email :-)

  • The first guy and "explainer" is drawing his bow waaaaay too much. Max draw length for a person should be to the corner of the mouth. This guy's drawing it to the corner of his jaw (+2-3 inch draw, +5-10# of draw weight at that length, depending on normal draw weight).

  • @DumFrickProductions then you know nothing about Asian archery-- the thumb draw allows for draw lengths upwards of 32" (or more for taller people)... to the ear, to the shoulder...

  • @jjaecks71 You are Correct on that Account. The only thing of Importance is Not That you draw to the corner of your mouth, but that you draw to the Same spot each and every time for consistancy. This Abviously escaped DumFrickProductions as the main reason of the "Corner of the mouth" draw. However, I know for a fact that Traditional English Longbowmen draw clear back to their ears.

  • thanks

  • i got my avar bow, 45# and shooting with the thumb, can anyone tell me how to get consistant shots as i am finding very hard :( thanks

  • now i know how it works thx you for telling me in english

  • Nice and very useful video. 5/5.

    Pozdrav Poljskoj iz Srbije.

  • it is a shit!

  • Feel genuine archer!!

  • What is? What are you trying to say?

And remember to always start a sentence with a capital letter.

  • what are the stats on thoughs bows: hight, draw weight, mateareal, etc...

  • you guys are good but the one beef i have with this is: why write something in english and speek in (Im going to guess) turkish. but apart from that you guys are good

  • Fairly skilled fellows, these.

  • That is a great video and awesome shooting,

  • I want to give traditional archery a shot. Doubt I'll like it as much as good ol firearms, though.

  • Hi there, just wondering how much you got your bow for and who was it made by? Also what is the draw weight

    Thanks

    Shazidur

  • yes you do :)

  • nice video & nice bow

  • Are the Grozer thumbrings any good?

  • Great shooting!

  • Very nicely done. Very smooth and the softness of the dialogue lets the singing strings do the talking. Peaceful...

  • Very respectful gentlemen. Very well shooting.

Any tips on getting thumb rings?

My one source has none...pity. Cheers.

  • Hi, best way is to spent 2hours with cows horn and file/sand paper or you can buy it at 3rivers archery.
