  • If you guys like this song by buddy holly I would suggest you check out the season 11 auditions for American Idol, the las vegas group performances. A group performed this song and turned it out! You will love it, has so much soul its amazing.

  • @ILoveTony14 I agree with you,, I cannot stop watching the video ( american idol) the combination of their voices was magical...

  • I was at grammar school when Buddy died. Such an amazing influence on music. And of course, so melodic and happy. Wish he were here now..

  • I was a fifteen-year old at the time of Buddy's death, and it really did seem as though the music had died. There was a great sense of sadness, and he was truly mourned by his fans. I'm encouraged to see the great effect his music has had on all popular music since then, and the incredible following that he has today. Thanks for this great upload!

  • @justmusicandme Your sooo lucky.

  • sorry, 1997

  • check out the seekers version of this song done in 1994.

  • American Idol brought me hereeeee too(:

  • UNLUCKY 13 or LUCKY 13???: "It Doesn't Matter Anymore" peaked at No. 13 and spent a total of 14 weeks on Billboard's Top 100 in 1959...

February 3rd, 1959 - The Day The Music Died!!!

  • He was killed the day of my birth.

  • Just brilliant! !

  • was 6 years old when he left,,, but i always remember him,, hes a icon,,

  • She drove me crazy, she still does !

  • i wasnt born till 64 but grew up with buddy holly, and roy orbason amoungst others like lonnie dongen and elvis love this truly great.

  • I remember being in school, hearing the news of the plane crash. It had an amazing effect on everyone. People were in shock, and weeping in the hallways....That was the golden age of music for many of us. RIP...Buddy, Richie V and the Big Bopper.

  • "Now and forever, till the end of time". I was 22 when I first heard this, and have loved it for the 52 years in between. A lovely song by someone who died too early but left some gems behind. Maybe not to the end of time, but it will see me out thats for sure.

  • This is amongst my favorite Buddy Holly songs, it shows his vocal range and the soul in his voice, More Buddy Holly !!

  • WHAT A GREAT SONG AND ARRANGEMENT BY THE ONE AND ONLY BUDDY HOLLY.. IF BUDDY LIVED WE WOULD HAVE HEARD MORE GREAT SONGS LIKE THIS.. WRITTEN BY PAUL ANKA WHO IS A WONDERFUL SINGER AND WRITER IN HIS OWN RIGHT.. BUT BUDDY'S VERSION IS 1000 TIMES BETTER THAN PAUL ANKA'S VERSION.. LONG LIVE BUDDY HOLLY !!!!!!!!!
  • This is amongst my favorite Buddy Holly songs, it shows his vocal range and the soul in his voice. Man, that dude was so exceptionally talented! RIP, Buddy, we love you!!

  • I love it.

  • Yes one of THE best

    Rip buddy,Richie,johnny,Elvis

  • one of the best rip

  • the day the music died rip buddy holly you left us all too soon your music lives on

  • My all-time favorite Holly tune. There is menace hidden in Anka's lyrics and I've been waiting for a cover to bring that out. Maybe someday...

  • @princeoftidds Hey, can you explain what you mean by the menace in the lyrics?

  • @threehundredwords Sure. Most of Holly songs have innocence and even joy but this one is all about regret for a relationship gone awry and there's even contempt for that person. He is washing his hands of someone he doesn't believe was worth it. I know Anka wrote it and not Holly, but it was an interesting choice by him to record it and the music belies the lyrics. Sounds happy but isn't.

  • @princeoftidds Thanks! will have to listen again; maybe it's the use of the word "menace" that threw me a bit.

  • BUDDY REALLY MADE IT HIS SONG...though it was written by PAUL ANKA

  • Greatest singer. Great Song. Real nice photo collection. All wonderful......except the stupid 50's square idiot that replaced the cool rock and roll guitar leads and actually the whole rock and roll aspect. Some of that early Buddy Holly guitar is so clearly part of the Surf Guitar sound, along with several other Texas and Country players.

Don't get me wrong...Buddy Holly is a master. HE made no mistakes.

  • man if only they did not get on that fucking plane imagen the music we would have had

  • Comment removed

  • @inkymoon I hope you joking right?

  • cheers to the uploader -

wonderful record - buddy holly, pure R&R gold, only to last a few years.

    die besten sterben zuerst...

  • Great post thumbs up

  • It does matter Buddy

  • Such a good song. It was the very first record I ever purchased. I still have the record and still remember all the words.

  • Buddy is a legend, love this even though I have heard it many times.

  • Awesome song!!!! XD

  • One of the finest songs recorded in the '50s. I like it a lot. And, as much respect as I have for Buddy Holly, this is one of the few songs where I think the cover by Linda Ronstadt is actually better--slower with more feeling.

  • @rod1148 Thank you!! I love Buddy Holly and was around for his releases. He was SO damn good, but I was looking for a name and you gave it to me - Linda Ronstadt. Her version sinks deeper into my soul.

  • The name Buddy, not a true Christian name, originated in Wales, part of the United Kingdom ,where men would refer to mates that they could rely on as" butties",the name for coal mine pit props and this nickname emigrated to the US. Buddy Holly to me was easy music with a message and just enjoyable. Thanks.

  • Check out my acapella version - comments welcome - good or otherwise.. ao1984mz

  • This was Buddy's last studio work, I believe. What a way to bow out.

  • I mean 1:21 Buddy sounds like gordon lightfoot When he says crying!!

  • A fitting song right now for me

  • iwas 6 years old when the fatal crash happen....when i got in to rock back in the 60s[my teen years] i was told by older teens what happen that night ...when the stars came down from the skies so sad

  • Yes Buddy it does matter, miss you so much

  • Buddy died on the 3rd February 1959, not March 1959.

  • @Davewise1965 Oops....my error...it will be corrected. Thanks.

  • @Nocaro No problem, I hope you didn't mind me mentioning it.

  • @Davewise1965 Not at all...With over 1400 songs posted, I'm bound to make a few mistakes in my notes and I'm happy people like you catch them so I can make the corrections. This one I should have caught immediately, and I don't know why I didn't..Nocaro

  • @Nocaro See that gladdens me that there are some people here on Youtube can admit there mistakes and not go into a "rage" about someone correcting them.

  • @Nocaro i got another mistake men

    you forgot to mention that

BUddy Holly is The Shit ,--o-o_S

  • @Davewise1965 a day before my bday

  • It does matter Buddy, you are the King and always will be, great song by a great artist, gone to soon.

  • @cawkanos At 1:23 Buddy sound like gordon lightfoot When he says crying!!!

  • Thx diese vid hat unser Referat gerettet

  • A really great song... written by Paul Anka in 1958. Some reports say it was recorded sometime in 1958, while others have it being recorded by Buddy Holly in a New York session for Norman Petty in January 1959, the month before Buddy died in the plane crash. In any case, I think it shows the music genus of Holly, and where his music likely was headed! This and "True Love Ways" are really exception songs from any period!

  • @shakopeemike check the video posted as buddy holly rare documentary.amv

It gives the details on this 0ctober 1958 session at the Pythian Temple in NYC.

THIS session set the new standard that Buddy Holly created in Rock & Roll - string orchestra accompaniment became the standard. And it was Buddy who said "I want strings." Dick Jacobs arranged and conducted this session which included Raining in My Heart.

  • Really a cool song!
