I can't really identify with the people (on youtube and during the press conference itself) who say Dylan seems reluctant, or shy, or embarrassed. To me he just seems a lot cooler than everyone else.
@chillepalmerz I think it has something to do with the fact he doesn't trust media or hold those reporters in high regard, and hence is extremely careful with what he says or how he answers, and that just creates that sort of awkwardness between them.
@ralfsu I also think it's just plain more entertaining to watch the way he acts here then it would have been if he had given straight, serious answers. What I love about Dylan's music is that it combines honest, subversive beauty, with silly absurdism, and with musical tradition. Here he combines interesting honest opinions with entertaining silliness, while creating his own unique persona. People want to put him in an easy box so they say "he's just messing around" or "he's just shy"
@jerryhello100 well they are two different things.he just has a huge personal space and gets anxious talking with and being closely surrounded by people he doesn't know or who do not know him.performing is one thing but staying in a huge room full of strange people that want to ask you a bunch of questions can be really frustrating. :) i just thought that is why he smoked so much.and bit his lips a lot,and why he didn't like giving interviews.
@octygirl Yeah ... Bob Dylan isn't Michael Jackson.
I'm not tying to be antagonistic, I just think that you're totally wrong. He doesn't have a fear of people, nor was he shy, he never would've left his home town if he had those anxieties. He definitely likes to contradict people, and disagree ... maybe that's what you're picking up on.
@jerryhello100 you all want him to be that perfect poet , with strong beliefs etc. but the truth is he was a music lover , a music man.the fact that he had a strong character isn't what made him leave his home town it's his love for music an passion for writing songs.music is his thing.everything he ever did was really personal.
@jerryhello100 and the truth is that has nothing to do with what we think of him an make of his songs.or the fact that he was anxious talking to people he didn't know and wasn't comfortable with.i never said he was shy.i was giving another example of performers that didn't do well with people for various reasons.
@jerryhello100 but they still were good performers.you're making smth of him that he never was and i think that kind of perception put a lot of pressure on him when he was young .and i also think that your idea that only strong people can do great it's kinda' sick.it is true passion that drives people no matter the anxieties or wtvr.sure he liked to contradict people but that was because he really had faith in his beliefs and in himself.and that doesn't contradict my opinion on his anxiety.
@jerryhello100 he loves singing ad performing and he did that but he never was comfortable doing interviews or shows.care to explain why?i told you my opinion on the matter and why he smoked so much.but feel free to come up with smth else.
@octygirl Ah ... I don't really think it's worth going into anything. I just mean, I don't think he "suffered" with anything. Have a good one though. See ya.
at 6:15 it looks like the kid is exhaling. Stoned immaculate listening to the greatest release a few truths and many pondering, calculated, dead-end statements would be a cool way to spend a 1965 afternoon in San Francisco..
this is wonderfull seen it so many times until it got taken of youtube all the other times, this video will be taken of soon, but lets enjoy it till then

@octygirl What are you talking about? I don't think he would have been able to perform if he was terrified of people.
