He probably should of said not very imaginative lyrics. It's like all death metal bands feel the need to talk about murdering and ripping off arms, just a bit boring. I'll admit it really is just a conduit for the brutality of the music itself to shine through, but it'd be nice for a band such as this one with so much talent to write something that is brutal and meaningful.

@guitardude1243 The thing is though, this band represents a very small margin of bands in the djent/death metal scene lyrically. Sure THEY write about death and what not, but a lot of heavier bands out there AREN'T and farthermore are pushing themselves musically, not just in complexity. I think once these guys push themselves more lyrically they'll be on par with those bands.

The lead singer over sings certain parts of their songs and it just takes away from the music itself. He makes it sound almost cheesy at points. I think once this guy finds his voice and this band has another cd under their belt they will be nothing short of amazing.

BTBAM vs Painted In Exile is a silly argument, BTBAM were one of the first bands to apply this open minded, no rules approach to metal music, PIE obviously liked this and are now developing it in their own way. You can weigh up the individual points all you like, but the bottom line is that regardless of personal preferance, Between The Buried And Me and Painted In Exile are two awesome bands, and instead of arguing, everyone should just be quiet and enjoy the music!

@NoAppend When it comes down to technicality, I don't see them going in the direction of Psyopus, Brain Drill, Origin, etc., or anything like that. I think these guys found exactly what they love to write with this EP and I believe they'll stick to it. Plus it sounds flawless. The only way someone couldn't like it is to just hear the screaming and immediately label it as "bad", which you and I know happens A LOT.
