I'm happy to see a religious person talking about HIS OWN life. A lot of religious people say YOU shouldn't drink, YOU should go to church, etc. Shaun Alexander isn't giving orders to other people, he's saying what worked for himself and gently suggesting it, and he seems happy. I think he has a healthy way of being religious.
I'm not pro- or anti-religious - I think we should have some of both kinds of people - but I don't like the way some people go about being religious.

Look at Ladainian Tomlinson, he went through a similar decline as SA as he passed 30 years of age, going from 5.2 YPA, to 4.7 YPA, to 3.8 YPA to 3.3 YPA.

FYI--I went to high school with Shaun in Florence, KY and I can tell you that he hasn't changed a bit. I've met his wife and his kids and he practices his faith every day. He didn't ALWAYS have money. There were no more than 10 black kids in our school at any given time. He had to deal with a lot, but he was popular. Don't judge, lest ye be judged.

I like this video. Shaun is one classy guy.... I hear it all the time from people that God speaks to them. Does he really? Does he actually-verbally speak to them? What do they mean by this? How come I never hear Him saying anything to me? Is there something wrong with me? I do believe in God.
It seems like Shaun trusted in God and followed his ways & God guided him. Maybe we have to do what God asks of us and then, in faith, we will begin to see things the way He does - like, sex is worth waiting for. God blessed Shaun for his faith & perseverance, not because of his skill or fame. I don't think he meant that God verbally spoke to him. When we pray often, he guides us in our hearts. It's a relationship that develops. Ask God to give you ears to hear him & in the meantime, obey Him.

Very empowering words, it particularly hit home for me. I admittedly haven't always exactly trusted God, instead I've gone off the path at times and it has hurt me. But after seeing this, seeing what trusting in God did for Shaun, and reflecting about my own past (and perhaps even my future), I will try harder to trust in Him and do things for His sake, not for my own selfish gains, and let Him take care of the rest.

then had a big year only because he was behind the likes of steve hutchinson and walter jones
hutchinson left and the line kind of fell apart and the "oh so talented running back" turned out to be smoke and mirrors

FYI--I went to high school with Shaun in Florence, KY and I can tell you that he hasn't changed a bit. I've met his wife and his kids and he practices his faith every day. He didn't ALWAYS have money. There were no more than 10 black kids in our school at any given time. He had to deal with a lot, but he was popular. Don't judge, lest ye be judged.

He really, really is. He and his brother Durran are probably THE NICEST people I ever met at Boone. Their parents are incredible. Kids have every right to look up to him. (By the way, I'm TOTALLY not even a Christian...I just genuinely like the guy and his moral fiber.)

It seems like Shaun trusted in God and followed his ways & God guided him. Maybe we have to do what God asks of us and then, in faith, we will begin to see things the way He does - like, sex is worth waiting for. God blessed Shaun for his faith & perseverance, not because of his skill or fame. I don't think he meant that God verbally spoke to him. When we pray often, he guides us in our hearts. It's a relationship that develops. Ask God to give you ears to hear him & in the meantime, obey Him.

Very empowering words, it particularly hit home for me. I admittedly haven't always exactly trusted God, instead I've gone off the path at times and it has hurt me. But after seeing this, seeing what trusting in God did for Shaun, and reflecting about my own past (and perhaps even my future), I will try harder to trust in Him and do things for His sake, not for my own selfish gains, and let Him take care of the rest.
