I haven't heard this for way too long - it's as awesome as ever! Are those lyrics great or what?! Awesome playing & vocals. Dare you not to tap your feet ;-)
I agree, Delbert rules! I used to have a big oldsmobile, and a dog. And I still start dancing when I hear this. Delbert just has that something. One of a kind.
One of my favorite artists that we tape on "Austin City Limits." It's also a good memory because Mike Archenhold, (1950-1999) one of the original camera operators on "Austin City Limits", ran camera 3 (opposite me on Cam. 1) on this show and we are workin' it. But then Delbert always gives us the good stuff. Texas Roadhouse Blues-the meat and potatoes of "Austin City Limits." And Stephen Bruton on guitar-one of the greatest musicians to ever come out of Texas-We miss you, Stephen!
Michael Duke on piano! He used to open for Delbert on a lot of shows, and we played a drinking game where you had to finish your beer every time Mike mentioned Huey Lewis. He's really proud of the songs he wrote for Huey Lewis and the News, and brought them up often during his sets, so we'd be rolling pretty good by the time DMC came on.
@Doreas1 because Americans have the worst fucking taste ever!! I've seen Delbert live in Austin more times than I can count and 'veI always wondered the same damn thing!
One of the best rock songs of the past 30 years. It stands with anything the Stones or Skynard or anyone else has done. It's well written and rocks like crazy. Whew!
I saw one of Delbert's shows several years ago @ House of Blues in New Orleans & had a great time. See him if you have the chance; his shows are much like this video!
yes the slide player is in fact leroy parnel one of the truly great singer songwriter guitatists he and delbert work alot together in spite of leroys busy schedule delbert has been doing a cruise every year for a while and leroy is usually part of it
The guitarist playing slide is my friend Rick Kurtz. The other guitarist looks like the late and great Stephen Bruton that I worked with in "Crazy Heart". The pianist is Michael Duke formerly of Wet Willie. Great band and incredible song and performance by Delbert.
The 1st time that I saw Delbert in concert was with this line up at the Cotton club in Atlanta in the early 90's. Needless, to say, i was hooked. Rock on, Delbert!!
No, I'm a Delbert fan from Holland. I play the trumpet in a bluesband and we are playing this song (in this version). translation of my comment: What a blast and power. This is the way that texas blues should be played!
An American Treasure,...Delbert was doing crossover country before it existed!!He is the best
