  • love it!!

  • Man but that Delbert can sing. What a set of pipes - love it

  • very cool---nice Telecaster!!!!! good stuff, I like it.

  • Great stuff!

  • "Texas blues" comes in quite a few different flavors, and I like them all.

But... I sure do love to turn Delbert McClinton's songs very LOUD :)

  • I agree, Delbert rules! I used to have a big oldsmobile, and a dog. And I still start dancing when I hear this. Delbert just has that something. One of a kind.

  • ...but how many times did he roll the dice???

  • ISN'T THIS A ROLLING STONES SONG ? ALL OF THEM ?

  • jesus christ is this good greatings from sweden

  • yeah!!!thanks for this masterpiece!!!Delbert rules!!!

  • One of my favorite artists that we tape on "Austin City Limits." It's also a good memory because Mike Archenhold, (1950-1999) one of the original camera operators on "Austin City Limits", ran camera 3 (opposite me on Cam. 1) on this show and we are workin' it. But then Delbert always gives us the good stuff. Texas Roadhouse Blues-the meat and potatoes of "Austin City Limits." And Stephen Bruton on guitar-one of the greatest musicians to ever come out of Texas-We miss you, Stephen!

  • Delbert's burning the house down...

  • That voice!! Magic!!

  • 89 & 92 apearances on ACL are the live cds`..

  • This is a kick as song!

  • Michael Duke on piano! He used to open for Delbert on a lot of shows, and we played a drinking game where you had to finish your beer every time Mike mentioned Huey Lewis. He's really proud of the songs he wrote for Huey Lewis and the News, and brought them up often during his sets, so we'd be rolling pretty good by the time DMC came on.

  • this is delbert at his finest and on this song NO-ONE can do it better --top of t he line "it'll make a hound dog lick the ground ........bill

  • @Dialoquese blues

  • the great David Hyde on bass... I gig with him often

  • Outstanding live performance. Sound like Stones songs rolled into one. Tumblin Dice, Brown Sugar, Can't You Hear Me Knocking.

  • @l2string but it's NOT the Stones. Fuck them anyway.

  • Outstanding live performance. Sound like every Stones song rolled into one.

  • WHY OH WHY----ISN'T HE BEING PRAISED, ADORED AND IN THE BIG TIME?---!!!!---REAL, RAW TALENT! WHEW!---LOVE IT!

  • @Doreas1 because Americans have the worst fucking taste ever!! I've seen Delbert live in Austin more times than I can count and 'veI always wondered the same damn thing!

  • @sariamiami ---I DID NOT WRITE THE ABOVE COMMENT..JUST SO YOU KNOW....

  • @Doreas1 I understand I had too much coffee this morning. :-)

  • Best version in my opinion!! Saw him earlier this year and definitely looked like he was thinking "do I really have to sing this song again"! :)

  • Incredible-I love it!

  • I love this entire album, but this song killed me when I first heard Gary U.S. Bonds do it.. Delbert truly does it justice.

  • Most underrated performer of all time, imho.

  • That's what I needed to hear today!!

  • Delbert is simply God

  • If i find a cfick who digs red dirt music like Mr. Mclinton her. i'll marry her and make her so happy.

  • I believe Troy Seals was a co-writer on this tune also....

  • Love this song will never get old!!!!

  • Ft. Worth Cats are the best got to love the way the mix blues, soul, and country all in one!!!

  • One of the best rock songs of the past 30 years. It stands with anything the Stones or Skynard or anyone else has done. It's well written and rocks like crazy. Whew!

  • ROLLIN A SEVEN

  • OMG I love you Delb

  • I saw one of Delbert's shows several years ago @ House of Blues in New Orleans & had a great time. See him if you have the chance; his shows are much like this video!

  • yes the slide player is in fact leroy parnel one of the truly great singer songwriter guitatists he and delbert work alot together in spite of leroys busy schedule delbert has been doing a cruise every year for a while and leroy is usually part of it

  • @tinkertd1 - Leroy's version of "Jacksboro Highway" beats all of the other covers to hell

  • The twang of the Tele sounds amazing and Delbert is always fantasic live.

  • Damn! Four minutes plus and not nearly long enough.

  • Rocker53zero,I got a lock on the door, but I'll give you the key! Love this thanks for introducing me to Delbert, love him! xx Donna xx ♥

  • Yes, it's Stephen. RIP.

  • @petebradt Unforgettable Stephen!

  • The guitarist playing slide is my friend Rick Kurtz. The other guitarist looks like the late and great Stephen Bruton that I worked with in "Crazy Heart". The pianist is Michael Duke formerly of Wet Willie. Great band and incredible song and performance by Delbert.

  • For a man who showed John Lennon to play harmonica, he is great for age , rock on Delbert, love this song, glad to see it performed live!!

  • Hi,

the guitar players in this video from 1992 are

    1. Rick Kurtz

    and

    2. Stephen Bruton

This song is one of my favourites....

  • The guitarist looks like Leroy Parnell. This rocks. I met Delbert years ago in KC. He is a lot of fun to hang with and a very nice person.

  • The 1st time that I saw Delbert in concert was with this line up at the Cotton club in Atlanta in the early 90's. Needless, to say, i was hooked. Rock on, Delbert!!

  • Anybody know who the guitar player is?

    Good licks...

  • Yes, this is from 1992, the other half of the show was LRP.

  • Pete, was this from an Austin City Limits show? Man, Delbert looks young!

  • Yeah, ACL in 1992.

  • Knallen maar!! Wat een power!! Zo hoort texas blues te worden gespeeld!

    RJ

  • @meizheng Willem, is that you?

  • No, I'm a Delbert fan from Holland. I play the trumpet in a bluesband and we are playing this song (in this version). translation of my comment: What a blast and power. This is the way that texas blues should be played!

Thanks for posting this great video!

    Robbert-Jan (RJ)
