Rule 42.1 A boarding penalty shall be imposed on any player or goalkeeper who checks an opponent in such a manner that causes the opponent to be thrown violently in the boards. The severity of the penalty, based upon the degree of violence of the impact with the boards, shall be at the discretion of the Referee....
Anyone notice that he hit Kaleta in the shoulder from the side..... not in the numbers, not in the back..... calm down, that is why there was no suspension for Ovechkin.... 2 min for boarding.... not 5 min major + ejection, bad call from the ref.
I fail to see how that's boarding. You can perhaps make the argument that it could have been charging, but in no way should that hit have warranted a misconduct of any kind.
This guy should have a lot more ejections by now. He's lucky he hasn't been suspended and fined either for some of this stuff. If he wasn't the most exciting player in hockey, he would be getting major discipline by now.
you guys are getting checking from behind and boarding mixed up. Brush up on the rules.

OV hit his shoulder, not his # or letters. At worst it might be interference. The ref over reacted. There are clearer shots available on TV.

THIS is what happened. It was quite clear this wasn't an illegal hit.

You're funny.
No, really. Your complete lack of grasp of hockey in general is hilarious. Seriously.
