yeah I was born in 1988 and my dad had some music/songs of Spike Jones!! When I was little I thought that this was what the Hawaiians actually spoke and I thought it was hilarious and I still do think that this is funny!!
My dad had this on a 78. I cried my eyes out when I dropped it and, like all 78's, it shattered into pieces. Took many years before I head it again....
Someone should really put this with a montage of über-tacky vintage Hawaiian-themed stuff from the same era, since that's what this song is poking fun at... lol
Remember when I was a kid and my dad had a Spike Jones LP, we could laugh alongside each other only by watching the cover haha! just look at him! he was one cool character! hahaha cant breathe
Does anyone know the (real) name of the person doing the first verse? I think he was credited as Horatio Q. Birdbath, but of course that was an alias. (One source said Mel Blanc, but I'm not so sure.)
I'm 23, born in 87. My dad made me listen to this, along with Frank Zappa when I was still attempting to walk, and I thank him. New age music sucks for the most part :(
@Kailoa36 I was born in 1997, and I just dont get Spongebob and all that crap. What makes me laugh is the 3 stooges and Little Rascals. My style of music is classical, The Monkees, Simon and Garfunkel. They call me a nerd, but Ive learned to take that as a compliment.
Weird Al aint got shit on Spike Jones

Wierd Al Yankovich obviously took a great many lessons from this fine gentleman/musician.

@TheRealZen00 There is such a thing on youtube that uses this song to great effect. Just look for a cartoon called " Momma don't like".

They just don't make silly like they used to.
I grew up in the 1950's when they were still around and had a TV show.
Thanks for the memories.
