@lkrause74 Yep. She died of cancer, another had a seizure and died, then one had a blood clot and died. I'm pretty sure only 2 of them are alive today if I remembered correctly.

When I saw "Million Dollar Babies" about 12 years ago on TV, I became enormously interested in the lives of Dionne Quints.

We look at their situation now and say, "how terrible, how tragic." Indeed it was, but isn't this still happening today to multiple birth families at a lesser extreme? Reality TV shows about families raising quadruplets, quintuplets, sextuplets etc?

Is this also exploitation of children...? :-\

It's so sad what the Dionnes went through when they were young and when they were growing up. I read the book "We Were Five", written in 1965, and Annette, Cecile, Marie and Yvonne talked about what it was like in the nursery, with the family, and when they left home and were on their own.

@fangrinmagirl I would think if he abused all 5 of the girls then he probably abused his other daughters too (and maybe even the sons) not wanting to throw accusations but it makes you think that he might have.

@ShesThe1yup Yeah, except that these girls were not really raised by him, but came back into their lives at age 9. In his mind they didn't feel like his real kids & boy did they sure look like his wife too. Also, in regular physical child abuse it is quite common that the parents only abuse one, or certain children and not all of them. Often the non-abused children stick up for their parents, even though the abused child had suffered horrifically, the family blames the abused.

they were exploited since the day they were born. my step father was from St. Catherines and remembers "Quintland" and the SWARMS of people that would come see them play in their observation playground. At times the little girls were tied to their beds. Dr.Dafoe acted as thier father "papa Dafoe"-he delivered the babies and convinced the government to make him the guardian. They were sexually abused by their father when they got older and returned home. There were many quint toys/dolls made

My grandparents have this movie on DVD I watched it when I went to visit them. The only other time that I saw the movie was when it was on TV but I missed so much of it and was glad to watch it at my grandparents. Did you know that their mother was actually pregnant with six babies but lose one?

Yes, I have the movie now. It is an amazing movie, I'm so happy to have it! And it's interesting that they would be sextuplets! If they made such success being quintuplets, just imagine being sextuplets! She would be "Cécile's twin". They are really special people! *-*

@dolphinsweet Yes, they are all identical. But they were identical sextuplets who shared 3 sacs in pairs: Yvonne and Annette, Emilie and Marie, Cécile and the sixth baby Elzire miscarried.

Yes, it is an amazing movie! I watched it just once and I'm anxious to see it again and upload here for others to see it. ^^ I think that next week, I'll upload it here. It is a very long movie and I'll have to cut it in a lot of parts, but I think it will work. :)

Well, I could not find it online on internet in any place and I looked for it a lot! Only you can download in some sites if you can pay for it, or buy it... but not to watch it for free. However, I'll receive the movie this week, and I'll try to upload it entirely here on Youtube. ^^
