ok if you ants are too small and keep escaping try this put 1 or 2 ant queens. and keep dropping (dead if you only have about 40 workerants) woodlice, horseflys, centipides or spiders a few choclate biscuit crums fattens them up in seconds :D And they get tunneling done faster!
I don't actually know, you can find loads in the summer, its mating season then when loads of fat flying ants, which look like flys attacking ants, grab two with a cup or something because they bite! drop them in the farm and then add the worker ants, then add normal human food, not too much... when they start getting used to the place, add dead bugs or anything like that (To kill a snail properly, grab it by the shell and drop in deep water for around 10mins then it will drown Hope that helps)

You can get them by internet or take them from your backyard, and the antfarm simply google antworks...
