  • when i heard the first note's of the first riff, i thought you're going to play "paslm of lydia" from nevermore.

however, you got a totally badass sound

  • Thanks for posting the Axe-fx review. Since I'm going to the US during the summer I intend to buy one, and it's pretty good that you also didn't just go solo demo on it, but also rhythm one too = )

  • I tried to register onto Rusty Cooly Forum, but the access code I had to enter was just retarded so after 3 attempts they stop allowing me to try. How do people figure out the code? The 3 I got were just illegible messes.

  • TEACH ME YOUR WAYS ON THE GUITAR!!!!!!! hah. please.

  • The Dual Recto "simulation" Sounds Unbelievable....

  • my question is this. you clearly have like every amp anyone could ever want, and most high gain amps sound pretty damn similar anyway, do you just use this bad boy for recording purposes or what? it just seems odd not to use the real deal when they are sitting right behind you! haha

  • this answers so many questions...how babies are made, how the universe was created, why the dinosaurs died out. I get it now...

  • so u can jsut run the axe fx straight in to a cab?

  • I don't think it really matters what preset he would use, because when your Rusty Cooley, everything sounds really good

  • I like the rectifier best.

  • I bet Rusty's neighbors were like "Fuck our lives." lol

  • 1:31 - 1:48 [Insert comment about how I have to go change my pants due to simultaneous shitting/creaming my pants]

  • Love that Rectifier tone. I need an AXE FX now XD

  • Which one you prefer real tube amp or axe-fx? I'm stuck in making decision which one to buy. I love the sound of the real tube amps, but also wnat to have more versatility, so to say the total package of different tones and effects. I can't afford buying both tube amp and axe-fx, too expensive for me(((

  • @daimonos612 ..are you more into live or home/studio work?I say use a real amp for live and an Axe for studio, but the Axe certainly offers great versatility fo rlive work as well....the axe is one of the greatest pieces of equipment ever made for sure

  • Well...if you got money to get new tubes every year and a shitload of pedals to get a crazy lead tone...go with the tube amp ! If you dont mind having to roll your EQ every gig tryong to find a perfect tone, get the tube amp ! Other than that...go with the axe. I heard James from metallica saying that he uses an highly modificated Diezel to tour and a crazy load of rack to get only one good tone. You'll get the same by tweaking the axe a little and no ordinary human ear will notice !

  • @daimonos612 You can get all the tube tones if you want to man form the Axe Fx Ultra :) it's all about little tweaks. With real tube amps these days you'll only get one good type of tone or maybe 2 or 3 different type of tones with one amp and then you would need tons of pedals. The Axe has tons of amp options that sound amazing plus all the effects you ever need. Plus less load to carry. There is nothing better than playing every day with consistent tone and less wiring eh :D Cheers.

  • @immortalsoloist

The Axe Fx arrived yesterday. I'm sending it back. The Diezel Herbert is way better than the Axe Fx. The chorus is not as good as the G system. The whammy effect has worse latency than the Digitech Whammy pedal. The amp models sound "dark" compared to the real amps. Some of the amp models are not even close to what they are supposed to sound like. The most accurate high-gain amp model on the Axe are the Recto models. Axe = EPIC FAIL.

  • I read that you have to use the axe fx without a power amp to really hear the differences in the processed amps...? true or false

  • I own a 5150. Theyre sweet! Keep shreddin it up Rusty!

  • 1:12 Very Primal Concrete Sledge

  • Just curious. Are you running cabinet sims with these patches?

  • said to say that I have never seen Mr. Cooley play before but HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was some amazing playing. VERY impressed and I will have to check out yoru music. Great demo of the Ultra.

  • @bikerpastor71 Yeah, same here. My jaw dropped when he broke into the lead playing.

  • Best Axe Fx metal tone on Youtube! Easily!

  • "Yeah pretty cool rhythm sound: It's got a good lead sound!"... BIOOWOELW BWIIOWLLBELB BWUUUBLELVIWIW BIOOWEL.

    Insane >_>

  • It's looks like it was late when you fimled this man, how'd you get away with playing late so loud? haha

  • finaly, which one do you prefer?, fractal or tube amp? i see lot of head as back .... its why i'm asking and i'm actualy use a engl SE in el34, i don't know if i will switch to pre-amp/power amp or if i will keep my tube head. tanks for response Mr. Cooley

  • maybe too lot of highs for lead. Rhytm cool

  • great guitar player! but all these patches sound the same to me. is it just shitty internet sound? i heard these units were supposed to be the shit...

  • Could you do a side by side comparison of one of your patches with the amp it's supposed to be replicating? Love your playing btw! Good to know the Houston area has some good players...feels like the scene is dead from my standpoint haha

  • As you measure height?

  • Do these things really have the FEEL of a real tube amp. I love the air pull and push with a real tube amp. And I'm so skeptical of how these might sound and feel. could you get a Diezel VH4 sound out of this?

  • How are your VHT 2/90/2 Settings, both knobs at 12 o´clock?

  • sounds like jeff loomis's sound

  • @AlienRope In my opinion that shits on Jeff Loomis's sound and most of the other axe fx vids on youtube.

If you watch some of the loomis vids on youtube his tone sounds so dead and dry it makes his playing sound sloppy.

  • I'm thinking about losing the amps and going with the Axe-FX Ultra...sounds like you can get almost any amp sound.

    Are you using it live?

  • 3:26 blowing my mind you rule rusty !!!

  • you need to practice a bit more , in a few years you maybe a player

  • how did you change the preset with the computer?

  • i check for new axe fx clips everyday and to no suprise i always see at least one shred legend who converted to an axe fx. i cant wait til i get mine.

  • ue GOD

  • Hey Rusty!

What strings do you use and what gauge?

  • Hey, I was wondering, what ever got you into a 7 string. Right now I have a Schecter A-7 Diamond Series. And if u have ever had sharp pains in the middle of your fore arm on ur picking hand...Cause I am 14 I have been playing for 3 years and I have a possible case of tendonitis or carpool tunnel...well thats what the docter said anyway

  • rusty, dog, please share the 5150 patch we want to know your peavy secrects!

  • Hm,very nice. For years now he continues to impress me with his very tasteful and mature playing. Unlike many other one-trick-ponys he truly is well-rounded musician that nows what a song needs...

  • oober...haha

your oober sick man...your an awsome player man...love ya sound

  • i need that 5150 patch dude

  • post your patches on axechange please!

  • Do you think if you punched me in the face...

some of your talent would rub off?!!!

    Just kidding! Lmao! Peace Bro!!!

  • rusty, you kick major ass.

im glad that you're enjoying your axe-fx ultra!!

    they are truly impressive machines

  • Both playing and sound quality are ridiculous.

  • Shoulda known it was gonna happen... The holy trinity of seven string shred all use Axe-Fx.

Chris Broderick, Jeff Loomis, & Rusty Cooley that is.

  • @aligatorsandwitch72

I couldn't agree more. And I think it's funny that we both define the great three 7 strong players as Chris Broderick, Jeff Loomis, and Rusty Cooley.

  • do you think you are going to stick with the VHT to power the Axe FX or maybe eventually go with a solid state power amp?

  • Nice!

  • its so cool that you even bothered recordin this for us to have a look at, mucho respecto dude!!!

  • I have always loved that distort. It is so awesome. It was really awesome on #t=1m40s . And on #t=1m30s I remember that from somewhere. I can't remember.

Very nice Rusty!! I wish I had the money for that guitar. I'd be the happiest man on earth (I'm not kidding)

  • thanks for these man, that things is truly badass it's almost like an all-in-one pedalboard. it may be digital but it's hard to tell!

  • sounds pretty brutal. I have to get one of these things for sure.

  • rusty you fucking rule

  • That sounds Killer!

  • didnt you said that u dont like AXE FX??? XDXDXD.... you said on your forum that u like more your prophecy or didnt you? XD

  • @ProjectYugi24 you haven't been to the forum lately have you?

  • @MrRustyCooley

:P to say the truth i wasnt there for 3 weeks XD... but just for curiosity... did you run that throu that VHT? That 5150 sounds much better than ive tried :/

  • @ProjectYugi24 Yeah it's going through the VHT 2/90/2 and a Diamond 4x12

  • @MrRustyCooley You did say you tried the axe fx ultra before and you liked having the real amps better : )

  • Thanks a million for making my Fractal GAS a great deal worse :)

Superb tones, I'm sure you'll like it even more as you get into further programming.

  • i thought you weren't buying one? lol

  • BEASTLY!!

  • Wow some fuckin awesome riffs and then the fantastic Rusty shreddings wow!

    Blew my mind away man!

Also, the last riff was like Loomis' fast riffs! Crazy!

  • I liked those rhythms you laid down Rusty. You should consider doing stuff like that, I'd listen to you wayyyyyyyyyyyyy more. But either way im jealous of your Axe Fx and skills. (i would say guitar but i have an rc7x with dunlop 6000's so its basically the same guitar as yours. :) )

  • @VhMetalx check out his new band "Day of Reckoning" - you'll like :P

  • holy shit, didnt know cooley had and axe fx! I got mine just last week and it is one awesome piece of equipment

  • wow man i wish i had it
