  • THIS IS AMAZING!

  • Totally. It all comes down to how many beats (not subdivisions of beats, but actual "big" beats) are felt between each downbeat. 5/4 has 5 big beats, 10/8 has 10 big beats. Only difference is the beats in 10/8 go by twice as fast...and as that feels different, has different grouping possibilities as django is saying :)

  • I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS VIDEO.......BRAVO & ENCORE :)

  • wow..

  • whose idea was it to ruin the audio by sticking a fan behind the artists blowing into the mics?

  • @TheDaveRoss hello I'm a sound engineer your absolutely right sound guy is not very good I can't hear the mandolin hardly it's easy to get a banjo sound and you have to hear the voice wears the rest Chris is only just the other player you hear him towards the end I hear now just without tone and just under volume

  • @sirlonghair You have to remember this video is posted in 240p and you are losing a lot of fidelity in the compression.

  • Somebody please explain to me that chime piece Bela Fleck did at the beginning of the song.

  • @giggleblaggle I like Chris's 'chimepiece' at the beginning as well.........

  • I like your cover. Radiohead are a great band.

  • @manfredicomposer All of his covers is great...

  • @manfredicomposer Voted down for poor grammar.

  • I thnk you guys should argue more about drum beats and time signatures. It's faaaaaaaaaascinating!

    Or not....Zzzzzzzzzz

  • oh god. musical orgasm.

  • Unbelievably good.

  • You really have no idea who these guys are, do you?

  • @jet1tej you are unbelievably dumb.

  • Bela realizes he's just passed the torch right here.

  • me hearing 7/8 toward the end

    fun to listen to

  • it doesn't matter what time they play it in... it's their own arrangement. dur.

  • they are amazing. end of story ;D

  • I think it's 10/8, not 5/4. this is amazing, two of my favorite modern musicians covering another favorite band.

  • Some would argue that 5/4 and 10/8 are inherently the same since both meters contain groupings of 10 eighth notes per measure. Distinguishing between the two in this forum is hardly productive. Them 2 gots good groove though. I like music.

  • yeah I agree. but the two have a different feel. just like 3/4 and 6/8 are different.

  • Comment removed

  • Same. both have 10 8th notes per measure

  • are you saying the they are the same? I'm confused. one could say that 3/4 and 6/8 are the same because they both have 6 8th notes per mearue but they totally different feels. just like 10/8 like this is counted in groups of notes 3 3 2 2. and 5/4 would be counted as one group of 3 followed by a group of 2. the feeling is totally different.

  • @blahman178

That's not how you read music. 3/4 means 3 beats per measure and a beat is a quarter note. 6/8 means 6 beats per measure and each beat is an eighth note. Fractionally they're the same if you are mathematically solving for lowest common denominator, but we're not solving mathematical equations, we're reading music. 6/8 is also triplet time (123223) whereas 3/4 is simply 123. Notice the difference?

  • Just awesome. Two of the most accomplished musicians on the planet.

  • Please, God -- Tell me someone recorded this with a nice taping rig. Can anyone tell me what the date was? Was it posted to etree?

  • wow these dudes are rocking those instruments. FIrst impression i dont care for his voice. THe playing is leet tho its like the greatful dead on crack.

  • I love both these guys on this song, but there's something else here that needs to be said: Radiohead has written some incredible songs. The Radiodread album by Easy Star All Stars is a testament, and so is this video. If anyone knows where I can get the recordings of this I would die.

  • I would love to know what kind, if any, rehearsal Bela had before going out for th is.

  • Creepy intro part man

  • Morning Bell...

    great song!!

    EXCELLENT PERFORMERS!!

  • CRAZY! Better than what this world deserves...

  • godddd christopherrr

    marry mee!

  • I love those guys. I'm glad I've gotten to see them live. I certainly hope to again. Gotta love the "I ran out of room on my camera" thing at the end. =)

  • I wish the audio on you tube was better so everyone can fully appreciate the talent of these two. The best of the best.

  • I was sitting in front... one of my peak musical moments! Two of the greatest musicians ever!!

  • Holy shit, this is really, really great. They should record this.

  • This song is in 5/4 time, which is pretty weird. It's super hard to sing and play and stay on time.

  • the song is in 5/4. listen to the original.

  • And Everything in it's Right Place is 10/8

  • Everything in it's right place is definitely in 10/8, but I'm with threebobs on this song: it's in 5/4. Very hard to keep time to, especially live.

  • It is in 10/8 grouped 3 3 2 2. beat in a four pattern.

  • Not really. 5/4 refers to a quarter note rhythm, in which the beats are usually grouped in 2 and 3. 10/8 is when you get things like 2233 3322, etc. It's the same numerically but not FELT the same.

  • @Djangoblackbird

just argued with a friend about 5/4 vs 10/8. he didn't get it. it's amazing what intro to theory would teach you

  • This is life changing.

  • Morning Bell...Pretty unique arrangement! Well done.

  • aqui estube YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • I like your ending, lol.

  • holy, quit talking people! That's better.

  • They play the music of Domenico Scarlatti too!

  • wow... sooo tight!

  • Thats what she said!

Come on some was gonna do it some time!

  • bela fleck + chris thile + radiohead = magnificent

  • @river0tt3r EXACTLY.......:)

  • great artists and song.

  • Bela fleck is really an amazing player. The other day I just searched a video from Gerry O Connor and I found an amazing 33 seconds duo with Bela. Yet I search for new versions this outstanding morning bell cover by chris thile and he's here again... (Actually he also played on "not all who wander are lost")

  • Bela Fleck Brilliant Brilliant

  • they're amazing. & i LOVE morning bell.

  • man, that was amazing. suck about the tape running out

  • this is a song called "Morning Bell", just for those who didnt know...

  • just saw Chris (Nickel Creek) last week, seeing Bela in a couple of weeks. Never knew these 2 played together. Simply incredible!

  • two of the best musicians around and you have idiots yapping through the whole thing. i hate that shit.

  • May I ask what the other highlights of the set were? What other covers did they do? How long was the concert?

  • That was amazing. If Radiohead switched to bluegrass, this is what it would sound like.

  • Sick.

  • These two are masters... easily crossing from bluegrass to classical, jazz, pop and rock. The Bela and Chick Corea tour should be phenomenal! Thanks Felocin!
