Yttrium iron garnet (YIG) has intersting ferromagnetic properties. It is used as a resonator in microwave oscillators.
YIG oscillators are widely used in test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, in radar, and microwave telecommunication equipment due to their superior signal and wide tuning range.
bismuth is my favourite though because it's name does NOT sound like anything normal, it's like calling an element "carthool" or something crazy like that.
