I admire them very much, I think they live a wonderful life and closer to Jesus. I wish I could live that way. Away from all this city hussle and bussle.
I live in Mesopotamia, Ohio, and am in MIddlefield at least weekly. Most around here are okay with the amish population contrary to what other people are saying. It is true that the novelty wears off after a while, and the buggies are a pain at times, but it's just a part of life around here. Personally I live living where I do, and the amish are pretty much just like every other group of people, mostly decent people with some who aren't so much. I don't see what the big deal is.
I'm amish. But i got kicked out of my village for fucking the guvnas daughter. He walked in on us, I was giving it to her up the ass real hard. I gave that bitch a mean donkey kick while i was at it. FUCK GUVNAS AND AMISHES!

Hey, I have a computer in my barn that runs off a generator (don't tell the Bishop!). While looking for Yankee Porn -- I found this Amish video on You Tube. I'm going to log off in a few minutes so I can go over to the Middlefield Town Tavern and get shitfaced and hit on Yankee girls. Then I'll get in my buggy, pass out and let the horse take me home. It's a hard life but somebody has to do it!
Middlefield, Ohio has the only McDonalds I've seen with hitching posts and its someone's job at McD's to go shovel horse shit out of the parking lot. What do you suppose they do with THAT?
the amish in mesopotamia (which borders middlefield) are the biggest road hazards ever, especially on roads designed to be driven in excess of 55mph. not to mention their horses crap all over the roads, forcing me to clean my car after driving anywhere near there. the amish, btw, don't pick up their horses' crap.
The Amish continue the lifestyle of the 17th century, they have done so SINCE the 17th century.
The modern Amish were born to Amish parents who taught them to be Amish like they were.
What a stupid thing to say! Afraid of the past? They carry on the past and do so well.
There is nothing wrong with what they are doing, separating themselves from modern society to suspend their existences in a kind of purity they choose to preserve.
And they can do what they want i dont really care, just find it really weak and cowardly to run from your problems and basically play a life size game of "its the 1700's".
You know very well I meant afraid of what is modern
You need to think. You were very bigoted in what you said, and rather misguided. The Amish are an honourable and brave people. Life for the Amish is much harder than for most of society, they are brave and hardworking. They keep age old traditions alive for us to marvel at today, I find it rather distasteful that you berate them for doing so.
If the Amish were cowardly they would retreat to the safety of modern technology.
haha middlefield i live near it but go to school in it not ALL amish forbid their picture being taken you can ask them i know where a lot of those places are i've lived in the area for 12 years so far center of the 4th largest amish settlement in the world...eea theres signs up around town

Sounds like fun. I think I'm going to start a new tradition. Screw Rumspringa! I'm now entering "Rum & Coke - Springa!" Or maybe "Jerry-Springa?"

I think the Amish are afraid that they will not succeed in modern day life, so hide in the past.
And i find them ridiculous.
