  • @fireman62truck engine wise i've done head gaskets but thats because i didn't keep the coolant changed. That engine should have coolant changed about once a year. I've rebuilt the front end but thats because i used to drive alot of back roads. otherwise thats about it really.

    The coolant ate at the heads and they had to be shaved to just at

    just the limit before switching chains. Otherwise it would have

    been 900 to 1000. Small shop and not a dealer.

  • the mark 8 actually has the 32valve 4.6l V8 from the 96-98 cobra. those motors weren't bad at all.

  • the tbird only had 215hp, weighs in at 3800lbs and 291 gears? and it runs the quarter in what 15s.. id say thats pretty damn good. take the scion tc it runs the quarter in low 15s i will put 2-3 cars on the tc from a 50mph roll. 1/4mi isnt the tbrids thing. and no it wasnt Fords best engine but it sure as hell isnt a bad one.

    looks of the car is really just a preference.. i love the looks of the 92-97. and i personally think the riviera looks like complete shit

  • on the highway v6s have to run at a higher rpm to keep at a constant speed. my first car was a monte z34 final drive wasnt til 42mph and i would cruise at 70mph just over 2000 rpm. the v8 is in final drive at 35mph and i can cruise at 70 at about 1750 rpm. yes i might have 2 more cylinders but it still doesnt count for that 250 rpm difference. city" driving is better on gas with a 6 but the v8 is better on the highway. common sense. dont get me wrong the v6 can be a strong motor but its not a v8

  • @musselman86 People seem to act like Thunderbirds are great - they're white trash trailer park cars. No one with class owns one, and they're slow. The clearcoat comes off on ever one I've ever seen and more of them than I care to recount burn oil and are just broken on the side of the road. If you want basic transportation, buy a Toyota - it doesn't eat gas like this slow junk and is way more reliable than this Thunderturd. A V8 Thunderturd is slower than most basic six cylinders I've been in.

  • @Shintsu2 That's funny, i've never had any major problems with my car, with regular maintenance and a keen eye these fords can easily break 400k.....i've owned and trashed toys much quicker and "easier" than any ford i've owned. As for gas mileage, anything over 20mpg is fine for me, tbirds fit that description.

  • @Shintsu2 A V8 "thunderturd" will smoke any V6 in the cars class in its time. Yea, with new v6 technology its slower by comparison, but with PI swapped heads, and the rest of the normal mustang 4.6 bolt ons, this car will burn a 350-370Z. Car ran 15.3 stock. I prefer the more "classy" cougar, but regardless, your argument is pointless, the cars not slow. I also have a 2000 nissan maxima and THAT is slow.

  • by the way ...what diameter straight pipe did you use? like the inlet diameter?? because the stock tubing that goes into the rear mufflers is like 1 3/4" hahahaha

  • sounds like its cold. i cut my mufflers off too and it sounds way better and different than that. i just cut them off behind the welds with a sawzall. no straight pipes. just pipes

  • No straight pipes? Just pipes? What does that mean, you used bendy, curly pipes? No mufflers at all sounds like ass. The 94/95 4.6 cars sound different with hacked off mufflers than the 96/97 cars do because of the resonator.

  • i meant i dont have straight pipes where the mufflers were. i just have them cut off.. and by just pipes i meant i just have stock piping. all three cats still. just no pipes out the back.

  • I've got a 94 4.6L and I need to post a video on here but i got cat back true dual with flowmaster series 40 in the rear, not in the stock under the rear seat spot, and the tips are turned down it sounds amazing and it was done for farely cheap

  • kywill-in order to get your car like that it sounds like he is just running straight pipe no cat, maybe an x pipe but there really isnt as much as you think in that car and maybe the rev limiter is off as well

  • I don't own a T-bird in specific, but with any car the main exhaust diameter is a fight between clear sound (small diameter, and or not much larger then primary headers) and high rpm power with a distorted sound (over the top extreme is a 3 inch exhaust on a cavalair, aka riceboy sound)

  • i got the exact same car and problem as you- nobody sells a system for the 4.6
