Thank you for this! 'Uncle' Wally Singleton was a dear friend of mom and dad's and I remember him fondly. I only now realized he died on dad's birthday in 1971.
Do you happen to have "Sunshine of your Smile" and/or "Down Where The South Begins" ??? Those two songs are rare and hard to find in my generation haha
What a thrill to re-live this video and the tunes of the Confederates! Through the tears I watched it all with warm memories of the beloved quartet. I fell in love with one of them and we married two months later. I was a Confederate groupie from then on, tagging along with them enjoying their fun and excitement in their love for barbershopping. I was expecially partial to one of them for the next 43 years and three kids later. I miss you George. Carol
sang lead). my uncle dave was a joy for me to be around as a kid and this tribute brought back many fond memories of singing at his memphis home and his infectious smile and attitude.thanks again for this posting--steve
One of the very best quartets of all time! No one in the past 35 years could hold a candle to these boys - PERIOD! Perfect song choice, sung with the composer's EXACT intent, distinct sound, and gut-busting chords! Remember, with Barbershop, that's what it's all about. Never sissy-fied overly sensitive singing. If you've never heard A Nightengale Sang in Berkely Square, you haven't heard barbershop (see 4:12 into this tribute). Thanks for posting this - it's important.
