  • Rest peacefully, Mr. King.

  • Lovely stuff. Very elegant. RIP, John King.

  • holy buttcheek. that was legitimate.

  • amazing

  • I"ve been playing guitar for many years and have just started learning to play the ukulele and banjolele. What a master John was. I'm so sorry that I just discovered him, only to find that he's playing with the chorus of angels. Such a master!

  • Beautiful!

  • that was actually very pretty

  • Fabulous --- now here is something to aspire to.

  • nice!:D

  • WOOOOOO

  • You know what's scary is it's true >.>

  • are you just stupid, or have you never seen a ukulele before? may john king rest in peace and let his music echo throughout the world

  • Fingerstyle Ukelele! I am so sorry to hear of this man's passing... what a loss to the world in general... I only wish I had heard of him sooner, so I could have enjoyed him that much more! RIP, John!

  • Wow!

  • Ever since I started playing ukulele I always thought Jake was the undisputed best player in the world. But now I just don't know =O

  • that was soo hot.

  • what kind of uke is that

  • I think it's the precursor of the uke, the Machete de Braga.

  • This was one of my favorites. All uke players that knew John are saddened. My heart breaks for all that loved him. I can't help but cry after hearing his music.

  • Rest in peace, Mr. King. You will be missed.

  • Dear listeners:

It is with deep sadness to inform you that John (a teaching colleague of mine at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida) passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on April 3, 2009.

May you forever rest in peace, John, and may your exemplary playing continue to thrill and entertain YouTubers around the globe!

  • Amazing! That guy has mad skills!

  • Dang! So Inspiring!

  • man that is Pro

  • only one word can discribe this....awesome!

  • Mr. King, You & Jake have inspired me to add the ukulele to my practice routine. I have your arrangement of "Carol of the Bells." Would you be willing to share your fingerings with me? Although I'm a college trained musician, I'm still very much a novice at this instrument. Marie

  • wow. he's good

  • negative 5 already, man the lack of a sense of humor around here is atrocious. In case you were or are too stupid to realize, I was referring to the size of the uke as if it were a full size guitar...c'mon ppl wtf. BTW best uke player alive imo.

  • lol awesome

  • hahaha this is sooo cool

  • that's freaking amazing! omg! awesome.

    M.

  • Woahhh thats amazing <3

  • Melodic perfection. I have not found another musician piano, harpsicord, or guitarist that can play this better or cleaner. You are the tops, John. No one can do it better.

  • Holy crap. Nice Work!

  • i can play through the fire and flames on the ukelele=)

  • please post a video of that, i would love to see something that rad. Must sound amazing.

    Best regards

  • lol learn sarcasm and thats not me snowboarding

  • the violin has 4 strings and all the people in my class knows how to play this song all the way. hello it's called fingerings!!so you could make notes an open string doesnt have like 2 on the d string which makes f. in the beginning the notes are g (on d string) f (same) g (same) e (same)

  • I think you mean F# man. But I agree. Amount of strings doesn't matter if you know how to strum, pick, and finger well.

  • yah probabaly..and yah dats true. my friend named nico is like good at the violin...i think he's a showoff seroiusly...

  • I took violin for about 3 weeks. It was the second slowest instrument for me to learn. The slowest being ukulele since I had to teach myself that. Kinda ironic that I be living on Maui and yet I'm the only one of my friends who can actually play the uke.

  • lol. this is the same person as jennifervong97

  • my so called brother nico says he knows how to play ukelele, piano, guitar, drums, and violin. all i said was wow u are one heck of a showoff...teach me how to play piano and guitar or something

  • I can teach you how to play piano. But that's gonna be really hard since you're not here in person. I'm not sure about guitar. I can teach you the strings and how to put together chords and inversions but nothing more.

  • Wow. Jealousy through inability, it looks like.

  • you ROCK.

  • one word to describe this vid: awesome

  • do u have the sheet music for this? or did u make that up by ear? if u have the sheet can u tell me where to get it?

  • double you double you double you dot nalu dash music dot com

  • Sweet! :)

  • weird.... but awesome! haha. nice job!!

  • lol i like that tiny guitar and for being so small you play it well

  • wow this is so kewl~!!!

  • Wow! Great playing, it certainly is somethign I haven't heard often (The Ukulele I mean.)

  • that was really cool!

  • Wow! I'm speechless! Truly awesome! 5 stars easy! Aloha.

  • Thank you very much, and thanks for buying the book and CD, too!

  • good fingerwork on a tiny uke

  • And it is tiny. Thank you.

  • Amazing playing. Thanks for sharijng. I was admiring the wonderful tone of the Da Silva Uke as well. Beautiful looking and sounding.

    Thanks for posting this up.

  • Thanks for commenting. Mike's instrument is a copy of an original Jose do Espirito Santo ukulele, ca. 1890. I'm very fortunate to have it.

  • Nice to see you here on the tube, John King! Season's greets from Portland, OR...and see you at the Uke Fest maybe?

  • Thanks, better late than never! And I will be in Portland in June, see you then.

  • Splendid Mr. King !!! Aloha and merry kalikimaka to you!!

  • Thank you, and a Merry Christmas to you, too!
