Yeah a pride of lions can cirlce a hippo, but the hippo can just charge one of the lions and trample it, and then move onto the next lion. If the lion jumped on the hippos back it will do no good since a hippos windpipe is too big for the lion to break. Yes lions kill some hippos, but hippos also kill lions. Infact crocodiles, buffalos also kill lions.
