I always liked Stevs especially his Checker Records. He never had a top 40 but his biggwest record was probably the vocal to Cast Your Fate To The Wind on ABC in 1965. Everyone is asking for Denver. Never heard it. It was 1968 when I was out of the country. It is on Atco label. I just looked it up.
Steve was ahead of me in High School and played in a band called the Red Coats. They were great them Playing in a bar called the J&L in Rochester NY. His brother Jim was also very good. "Keep On Rockin"
I used to run from the school bus to get home in time to see WHERE THE ACTION IS, where Steve A. was a daily performer. Another Dick Clark production !
I haven't heard this song in decades. I used to watch Steve perform this song live at Municipal Auditorium in Hialeah in the 63/64 time frame. Thanks for posting it!

This is Steve Alaimo's song. I don't care who wrote it, or who sang it first. This is Steve Alaimo's song. Hands off. Meg

The McCoys also did a nice version in 1965. Rick Derringer kind of sounded like Steve on their version.
