  • Damn that is one badass women... Where can i find one :D

  • "Nîn o Chithaeglir lasto beth daer; rimmo nín Bruinen dan in Ulaer"

  • Go elfs! Go go go elfs!

  • I get goosebumps everytime I hear the "If you want him, COME AND CLAIM HIM!" thing....CHILLS!

  • i wonder if the actors learned the elvish language because they said trust over and over in the 2 towers and said estelliou

  • these films changed my life!!!!!!!!

  • Nîn o Chithaeglir, lasto beth daer, Rimmo nˆn Bruinen dan in Ulaer!

    Translation:

Waters of the Misty Mountains, listen to the great word, flow waters of Loudwater against the Ringwraiths!

  • She's a better rider that the Wraiths! her horse is a heavier type than theirs but she was able to get more out of him!

  • @MsAnya26 It doesn't explain it in the movie but the elvish horses listen to the commands of elves in their language. So when she was speaking to it in the beginning it was listening to her and she was probably saying "Faster, faster" and it would obey her :)

  • @teamEdwardrulez01 I kno, its class!!

  • My favorite part is when she starts casting that spell <3

  • Liv Tyler was such a babe in this movie.

  • Haha in the book, Frodo is riding alone on a white horse given by an Elven king they meet before. And the river reacted not because of Arwen she wasnt even there, but because it was told to do so if the black riders ever tried to cross, and the horses seen in the water was conjured by Gandalf from Rivendell, or by a spell i do not remember.

  • @MopacMurtaza YES. This buggged me a lot too. They make Frodo look like such a pussy in the movie, being babysat by Arwen. In the book he was ALONE

  • @MopacMurtaza

I know, but if they followed the book every line the movies would have been 9 hours each. In stead of 9 hours all together. Not that I would have mind

  • @MopacMurtaza In the book it was Elrond who controlled the river (and in fact he can command all the natural forces within the boundaries of Rivendell, due to his ring of power: Vilya, the Ring of Air). The water horses were supposed to also have riders on them, which was a little bit of magic done by Gandalf, Elrond only summoned the flood. But I have to say the change in the film was very well done. It showed that the Elves were magical with one scene.

  • 1:58 best part :D <3

  • 1:58 best part :D

  • Girl power?........you better thank the white STALLION she was riding while you're at it.

  • what is she saying, sounds great :)

  • A shame that they put her in a dress nd replaced the sword for books for the rest of the trilogy. Nothing better than an action girl. :)

  • @bushidosamurai100 But Éowyn is the action girl of LotR. It would have been unnecessary to turn Arwen into another one, and also it would have been disrespectful of the original books and Tolkien. I like it the way it is: the three female characters represent three different feminine types: Galadriel is the strong and wise woman leader, Éowyn is the badass action girl on the foot soldier level, and Arwen is the feminine princess classic who's strenght and courage are mental, not physical. :)

  • 2nd best scene in the whole damn series! The best one was Gandalf versus the Balrog!

  • most suspenseful scene, and the music ties in PERFECTLY!!

  • It wasn't Arwen that saved him, in the book, it was Glorfindel, an elflord.

  • @Moparmama70 In the book, it is Glorfindel who meets Strider and the hobbits on the road, and Asfaloth is his horse, but Frodo is riding alone to the ford. --- But you are right...Glorfindel is the hero in reality ;)

  • @Orbelain92

Yeah, I have the books! lol

  • @Moparmama70 ;)

  • what's the song played in this one? i mean what the title in the OST?

  • @IRISistibleMakeup Took me forever to figure this out myself, but it is Flight to the Ford, on the Fellowship of the Ring soundtrack. : )

  • @nmbsg great, thanks! :)

  • the horse's called asfaloth, right?

  • give up halfling! she-elf! >=D

  • if you want him come and claim him :)

  • hate the river scene, but the chase is good.

  • Im sorry for a little wrong spelling,What i meant was:

This is very hard to write in Sindarin.

  • Not to be an ass,But Sindarin(The main language in Rivendale) is harder to write in Sindarin.

Therefor i wrote it in a mix of Quenya and New-Elvish...

If you have any questions about Elvish, just leave another comment.

(I dont want to discuss whit you, what is the right spelling)

  • i love horses is movies. like imagine this scene with no horses and frodo piggy back riding on her back. no cool! but with horses fantastic!

  • (What I wrote is Quenya, and not Sindarin...)

  • Arwen is speaking Sindarin(A type of Elvish).

    She is saying:

    Ninoo Huita Alastovet Min Theira,

    Rimoo Ninoo Naina Ani Nemaia,

    Ninoo Hiveyglea Lasya Feter,

    Rimoo Ninoo Bruinen Nin Holeya.

I have learned Elvish but do not know exactly what she is saying.

  • @ProudMuslim567 not to be an ass...but its actually

    Nîn o Chithaeglir

    lasto beth daer;

    Rimmo nîn Bruinen

    dan in Ulaer

repeated x2 and means: Waters of the Misty Mountains

    listen to the great word;

    flow waters of Loudwater

    against the Ringwraiths

  • Okeyyyyyyyyy....

    In the book:

    1. Frodo rode over the river(Bruinen) alone.

    2. Glorfindel,Elrond and Gandalf causes the flood.

    3. Bruinen is deep,about 2 meters.

  • @ProudMuslim567

That does not make this scene any less good.

  • I always wondered where the other Nazgul was. If you pause at 0:46, you can clearly count eight Nazgul chasing Arwen, so where's the other one? :P

  • @xoxoannettexoxo think the one that wasn't there was the witch king but i'm not sure

  • Give up the halfling, bitch!

  • I tried to tell them boys on them black horses don`t screw with that Elf,, she`ll give you a bad day.

  • lol every time i see the river scene, i always think that the rider's swords are actually penises, and that they're coming to.........uh..........to arwen..............never mind........

  • What's the music called that starts at 0:52

  • How have elves fallen so far? I mean look at this. LOTR elves kick total ass, always have.

Now look at other popular fantasy media. Elves have gone all sissified.

  • When Arewn said noro lim, Asfaloth to her horse i was wondering aint it Glorfindel's horse

  • @91assad Glorfindel is not in the movie. Arwen meets Aragorn and the hobbit's and rides with Frodo back to Rivendale, as he is starting to fade. In the movie Asfaloth is Arwen's horse.

  • Dementor Dementor! I suppose Arwen's Expecto Patronus is a version of a water pokemon!

  • In the book it was Glorfindel who carried Frodo

  • this is such an awesome scene.

  • actually in the book Elrond summons the water horses not Arwen...

  • i have a crush on frodo :)

  • Give up the halfling, she-elf!

  • @HellOwnerz lolz....COME AND CLAIM HIM BITCH!!!! = )

  • I love this scene!!!! I wanna learn elvish, but it's too complicated, so I'm just learning elvish from the film!

  • I love this scene!!!

  • I understand they need to change things for the movie for excitement or drama, but the way it was in the book is actually way more cool and exciting than this. It would have been one of the best scenes in the movie if Frodo was alone against the Nazgul and had his sword broken by the Witch King like in the book. I would be fine if they just replaced Glorfindel with Arwen and left it at that, but to change what actually happened when it was one of the best parts of the book was just dumb.

  • "If you want him, COME and claim him" <3

  • This didn't happen in the Book.

  • @HarpoMarxTheSpot

Sometimes following a book to the letter makes a film seem cold, a lifeless word for word adaptation. The films are mostly loyal and yet tell the story a unique way. Maybe to some this scene is dumb, not to me.

  • @HarpoMarxTheSpot

What didn't happen in the book?

  • Man horse's are amazing! i love 1:00 when the horse kick it into overdrive, AmaZing.

  • @Tub87 I know. That horse was trucking. I've never paid so much attn to horses until I watched this movie. The scenes are so impressive. Lovely animals...

  • Love this scene... water horses, water elves answering to the call of the queen.

  • This must be the most epic pwn in a movie ever :D

  • I have such a crush on Arwen *-*

    (Yes, I am a girl).

  • Fucking amazing!!!

  • 1:27

  • Glorfindel couldn't have done it better... But he put Frodo on the horse alone for better speed.

  • I just love the way she pronounces the words. It makes me feel funny:)

  • An epic scene by far. The CGI and overall effects are spectacular and - YES! GIRL POWER!!!! X3

  • @gOtHiCxAnGeLxox lol xD

  • I was very inspired by this scene, it shows women can be just brave and heroic. "If you want him come and claim him!" that really gave me goosebumps. Eowyn too when she slayed the witch king. I love LOTR because it shows anyone can be courageous no matter what gender you are or how tall you are! LOL <3 Tolkien.

  • @vim92 Too bad it's fantasy, in the real world most women are just passive. That's the sad truth. In fantasy anyone can be strong, including women, and I gaurantee you that you'll never find a woman like this in the real world.

Unless you are one of course, in which you are very welcome to stop by my house any time. ;)

  • In the book , as you probably know , Arwen never did this. Glorfindel carried Frodo , & Elrond & Gandalf washed away the Nazgul. I like the movie Arwen much better , as she did virtually nothing but sew a banner in the book. In contrast , Eowyn was completely true to Tolkein's original depiction. Man , was she great.

  • Liv Tyler makes an insanely hot elf. Wow was she great for this role.

  • LOVED this scene. I was so scared for Arwen than she just stood their all bad ass and crushed the wraiths with a wall of water!

  • i love this part so much...like i watch it 100 times a day...(just this part)

  • Lord os the rings probaly the best movie form the past decade.

  • which movie is this

  • @iz63 It's from Lord of the Rings The fellowship.

  • @Maryoalpha4 I know the translation

  • @iz63 u don't know! i mean u don't know!! its like one of the BEST movies ever made!!!!!!!!!!

  • @iz63 Why would you ask such a stupid question, it says it in the information box. Plus, they are the greatest movies EVER.

  • @iz63 The Fellowship of the Ring, the first movie in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

  • lol all hair on my body stand up when she castes river spell

  • Elvish has GOT to be the most awesome language ever!Tolkien was a GENIUS!And Liv Tyler as Arwen...just rox ur sox! "Noro lim, Asfaloth, noro lim!" (Ride fast, Asfaloth, ride fast!) is gives me shivers when she speaks elvish xD

  • "If you want him, come and claim him!"

  • "Nin o Chithaeglir, lasto beth daer,

Rimmo nin Bruinen, dan in Ulair!

Nin o Chithaeglir, lasto beth daer,

Rimmo nin Bruinen, dan in Ulair!"

  • my favourite part of the movie :-DDD

  • @hilletektelen This part DOES RULE... what I find even more intense is atop Weatherstop...when the slow motion takes over...and the Hobbits are surrounded by advancing Raiths.

  • I am learning Quenya now, just for fun. I love the language. And i adore Tolkien for creating it. I already know the elvish Arwen speaks in this scene (:

  • the movie is now on TV in romania

    love the scene!

  • you sad people who no elvish.......where can i learn lol :P

  • there is a site .... i can give it to you :D :P

  • not that i want to learn elvish........out of intrest whats htis site then haha

  • @theologou13 could you send me that link too? I think elvish is such a pretty language. i don't want to impose on you though, so if you don't want to, you don't have to.

  • um, no offense, but what is Quenya? It is a pretty language, and it sounds fun to learn, but it sounds like lessons are hard to find.

  • ...can somebody...please tell me...why they ran with the flow of the water...instead of going back to the other side?

  • its cos der sikkk ini hahah

  • @cdedwards83 1. that water came fast towards them 2. it was probably very hard streamed or how to spell it.

  • Nîn o Chithaeglir, lasto beth daer, Rimmo nˆn Bruinen dan in Ulaer!

    how to pronunce it

    Neen oh Hee-THIGH-gleer, LAHST-oh behth dire, REE-moh neen Broo-ih-nen dahn een oo-LIRE

Waters of the Misty Mountains, listen to the great word, flow waters of Loudwater against the Ringwraiths!

she say it twice if you get lost =)

  • Nîn o Chithaeglir

    lasto beth daer;

    Rimmo nîn Bruinen

    dan in Ulaer!

    Waters of the Misty Mountains

    listen to the great word;

    flow waters of Loudwater

    against the Ringwraiths!

  • i'm actualy trying to learn (after 5-6 years of stopping after failed atempt.)

it would ba a nice language to actualy use in reality for keeping some conversations descreet, or keeping conversations to either a one on one or group conversations that you don't want others to know about. or to make poetry (which i wright at times) flow better and have more of a jingle to it...all kinds of uses.

  • no your just a better speller than i am...now lets get s group to gather and start trying to make sindarian a functional language.

  • thats a really fast horse...looks like shadowfax ;)

  • is that a dead language or what?

  • It's a made up language made by Tolkien. Derived from other languages.

  • Comment removed

  • sindarian i think other wise it's quenna (sindar is basicly common speak for elves while quenna is the elvin equivilant of latin.) yes i know i'm a nerd!

  • Nin o Chithaeglir, lasto beth daer: Rimmo nin Bruinen dan in Ulaer.

Nin o Chithaeglir, lasto beth daer Rimmo nin Bruinen dan in Ulaer.

Waters of the Misty Mountains listen to the great word; flow waters of Loudwater against the Ringwraiths!

  • From that one comment you seem like the type of person who isn't particularly intelligent and so you put others down to feel better about yourself.

    And that's sad.

  • You're proving my point.

  • Get off your high horse you jumped up little cunt !!!

  • why do you leave a space between the end of your sentence and your first exclamation mark?

  • Try again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How witty.

    And...scene.

  • Yep , keep fishing lol !

  • best scene ever made. love those alf.people )

  • I disagree. The idea was sound, but the execution leaves to be desired. The ford is much too narrow there, they should have made it across before she even started chanting. And then the wraiths try to escape the flood downstream, instead of to the side? How stupid is that?

  • I'm actually attempting to learn what spell she said, go to a river and see what happens.

  • But it only works if you're an elf :(...

  • I'm still gonna try. lol what ever happens happens.

  • that is actually my favorite movie scene ever

    so amazing!!

  • Concertchoir57

It's my favorite scene too, because the 9 kings are in for it when the water horses come to help wash the ringwraiths away. The wraiths should have known better than to come across the water like that.

  • Er....Those horses are the ones running, not the Nazgul. The Horses are more afraid of the water then the Nazgul, after all, the horses were bred, tortured, and broken by the Nazgul. Naturally they'll fear nature more then their master.

  • I've always been a little mystified by the sheer stupidity of the Nazgul in this scene. Instead of using the handful of seconds before the wave hits to close the last few feet between them and Arven/Frodo they brilliantly try to outride an oncoming wave right down its path.

    Saurons most fearsome servants, riiight!

  • This is the most tensed scene in the first part when nazugl almost gett close to the frodo and she ride faster then and espace but it was critical when he opened eyes,i soo like when they say give up the halfling AND SHE SAIS IF YOU WANT COME AND CLAIM HIM!!!!!SOO COOL

  • This is one of the most awesome scenes in the Fellowship of the Ring and the even the entire trilogy and my most favourite!

Really shows the connection the Elves have to Nature and to call upon its power and protection in such a beautiful language:)

  • Yes its very beautiful. Today while ive sit at work i suddenly heard her voice in my head. No clue where that came from now, havent watched the movie for at least a year. Its almost like a wonderfull song. It'll pop into your mind. Sooner or later..

  • lord of the rings<3 gosh i love the trilogy! liv is so beautiful!

  • Nîn o Chithaeglir, lasto beth daer, Rimmo nîn Bruinen dan in Ulaer!

  • Elven language is awsome, soo mysterious and secret,unknowed.....

My favorite scene is when they nearly gett her at one moment, when they are soo close, frodo looked at the wrath and fainted, soo tenses and dramatic, without the river they would not make it ,or frodo would die, elves are just THE BEST.

  • this is probably the best filmed movie EVER. this scene gives me chills; especially when it shows them from above :)

    liv tyler, sooo gorgeous :D

  • one of my fav scenes fro the movie

  • what does she say to her horse?:)

  • Noro lim Asfaloth!

  • this secene is really good. i love elf laguage

  • I wonder who her double was for this high speed horse chase. lol

  • It's in the collector edition with the extended version. 2 DVDs for the Motion Picture, 2 DVDs for the making of. And it's for each part of thr trilogy.

  • I meant I just wonder who the horseman/horsewoman was for the part...I mean if they identified the rider

  • nah, dementors suck, these things have skill

  • what is she saying in that spell?

  • Nîn o Chithaeglir, lasto beth daer, Rimmo nˆn Bruinen dan in Ulaer! = Waters of the Misty Mountains, listen to the great word, flow waters of Loudwater against the Ringwraiths!

  • @ileanafromhell YOU ROCK! I have been trying to get those words for YEARS!! Thank you!

  • something about the misty mountains washing away the wraiths...

  • go asfaloth!

  • They should use her powers more often

  • MY thoughts EX-actly!

  • yo, this is the shit

  • Most any type of game/book/movie where elves are involved....they always look wimpy but never are....lol

If you are interested in such things, picture this:

Elven/Druid/Elementalist Because in the end...they are always a combo of these.

And that is why...back in the day and even now in games/books/movies...they kick ass when leveled up properly...lol Call me dorky...but sorry...it had to be said. :P

LOTR is great though...thanks for posting this.

  • I have never seen the movie, but i love this scene, where she really seems to show her power.

  • Wow she's has amazing power ;o... Arwen is what I love in LOTR the most, I love all scenes with she!

  • Why did the Nazgul stop at the waters edge??

  • It was an elvish river, that surrounds Rivendel, an elvish kindgom...they resisted the most to enter the river, then, white horses appeared, and they were taken and Arwen kept safe. It's Arwen on the film, the book has other characters and circunstances.

  • They forgot their floaties.

  • this is my favorite part in movie

  • One of my favorite parts of the movie. What a horse race scene!

  • i just LUV the sound when she says "nino lasto laer"

  • Well, actualy, (and i SO dont mean offense or anything) but she says (her whole chant)

    Nin o Chithaeglir

    lasto beth daer;

    Rimmo nin Bruinen

    dan in Ulaer!
