It's funny because the largest dipropotionate drug consumers and distributers are white people. Because they are rarely prosecuted or targeted they aren't mentioned.
I'm a black male, and unfortunately what he said is nearly 100% true.. however what he said was a major generalization that lumped all minority males and females into a specific category, and when making sweeping generalizations there are always exceptions in this case many exceptions.
Nor did he say that minority men were only interested in sports.. "he said that we need to find other avenues other than sports avenues, for minority men to get into college and get an education"...
race has no influence on behaviour or the choices people make. your skin colour or facial features do not whisper to your brain and make u do drugs. why do some people fail to realize this ?
He paints with a broad brush, but I hear what he is saying. It's ironic that the north fought for the freedom of blacks and now northern states/cities are being destroyed by the very black people they helped free. Why a majority of blacks choose to treat each other like garbage (especially their women) and insist on being uneducated thugs is beyond me.
@mrcarterofAR Think before you answer this question. Do you really believe anybody fought the Civil War to free black slaves? If so, you really need to re-study that era and don't use a public school textbook.
@happymand If that's what you actually believe than you are not even worth further discussion. You're too far gone. I feel sorry for you hon. Shame on our education system.
@BigBlaqueKat Ok. Cuz someone named BigBlaqueKat is most definitely an expert on Civil War history. Get that shit outta here! Just cuz ur retarded ass propaganda websites tell you that the Civil War was about states' rights... It was. It was about a state's right to own slaves.
I'M A BLACK WOMAN AND I AGREE. Not only do black men not put their education first, THEY BASH BLACK WOMEN, LIKE MYSELF, WHO STRIVE FOR HIGHER EDUCATION! It truly hurts.
@ndependentwoman, Miss lady can you please say some black men not all we don't need our sistas on here cosigning this stuff, though I agree with you about part of it, and for the record some black women need to be bashed for the things that they do, some black kids value thug life over an education because it seems like a lot not all of black women want thugs or bad boys, and guess what thugs and bad boys do bad things like sell drugs instead of get educated.
You're a fucking idiot. You don't even get the point. Drugs, sports, or whatever, the point is that black men are too stupid and uncivilized to take care of themselves. So don't spin things into an other argument. No wonder Armenians hate you stupid Turks!
Is it not true though? 60something percent of black mothers are single and black males are by far the #1 users of illegal drugs. To be honest, i'd rather not have people sugar coat things like that, and especially when its a problem as profound as drug use and lack of education. Furthermore, instead of being a simple jab at black culture, he did say that there should be preventative measure set in place to better the situation. More tact could have been used, but the statement wasn't racist.
@yootubematt, actually if you take a look at the U.S. justice department stats you'd see that current illicit drug use is at 11.1% for whites and 9.3%for blacks. Also Race/Ethnicity and Gender differences in drug use states white males and females use drugs and sell them at a higher rate than blacks in both gender catagories.Yes we have larger single parent households than whites, but while our numbers and falling yours are rising. Ref. Department of Family and Children Services.
@bmoe8880 not trying start a flame war or whatever, but the CDC puts blacks at 9.8% and whites at 8.5% which is nearly identical to the ONDCP stats. Furthermore, 66% of black youth (under 18) admitted to using marijuana at least once as compared to 42% of white youth according to the OAS.
Either way, both of our stats are based on surveys that rely on the honesty of those asked, which is obviously less than accurate when dealing with illegal substances.
@yootubematt FYI ,DOJ doesn't track their stats from surveys. They track them by the people who they arrest for drugs and in the report whites are #1. I didn't say you were trying to start a ...what did you call it? A "flame war", and neither am I. When I saw an inaccuracy and just wanted to correct it. What you should think about is the fact whites drug use is 11.1% and blacks are 9.3% but blacks are the ones doing all the time.
@bmoe8880 wait wait wait... let me see if i can sum up your argument. the DOJ takes its info based on arrests which show that whites do drugs more. Then you go on to say that blacks are "doing all the time".
So which is it? Are there more whites being arrested or more blacks? You can't be the victim AND the victor.
@yootubematt blacks are 13% of the population yet we represent 37% of the people arrested for drug related offenses, and 56% of the people in state prisons for drug related offenses. ACLU found that blacks are 3x's as likely to be stooped as whites. 85% of blacks and Latinos stopped are searched that's compared to 8% for whites. Victor, I didn't know we were in a contest. No disrespect all I am saying is your approach is so sweeping and one sided without a true knowledge of the subject.
So you know that 60% of single mothers has a lot to do with that 56% incarceration record I quoted to you, the war on drugs was only fought in the black community even though we don't own boats or planes to bring the drugs into the country.
@bmoe8880 You ignored my refutation of your original argument, but thats ok. You could also argue that the reason so many blacks are being arrested is because its the blacks that are doing the crimes. I sympathize with the fact that blacks have been mistreated in the past, and i'm positive that it happens to this day, however, I believe that the staggering statistics that you mentioned are not the product of racism, but of black people committing crimes. You cant say that just because (contd)..
@yootubematt (contd)... just because blacks are being arrested means that its racism. Its obvious that any race that commits a crime more often than another will be arrested more. If you believe that so many blacks are arrested because of racism, then thats fine; it is my belief that black culture's glorification of drug use has led many blacks to grow up idolizing dealers and musicians who brag about using the illegal drugs, and therefor leads more blacks down that road than whites.
@yootubematt, I answered all your comments in the last 2 posts. Actually....crime tracked over the past 10 years show that WHITES committ 70% of the crime in america. 200 people have been released because of DNA evidence and 120 are black. I agree with you the race committing the most crimes should be policed more but in this case that isn't being done they are targeting blacks and latinos, Why? If it's not racism then what is it I really would like to know since you seem to.
@yootubematt contd. Poverty creates more drug dealers than rap music does your just using a common cop out. This excuse keeps not just blacks but whites from focusing on the fact that 2% of the country owns 75% of it's wealth, and that makes more drug dealers and criminals than any rap video ever will, and rap isn't black culture. Rap is a marketable product being sold 68% to whites not blacks.Use you head if you do more drugs than we do who's getting the bulk of the messages in rap music.
and she didnt really ask to many questions like how I was getting the money because she was well taken care of and at that time I thought I was a man because i was providing for my family and thats why most young blacks sell drugs because of the wrong metality of being a provider. now that im 21 I realize that mothers should push there sons just as much as their daughter on importance of education.some young black men dont have communication with moms so we learn from music and streets
I hate to say it but white man is right about that. I remember I was 17 selling drugs cookin cookies making around 2 thousand a week I would sit in the back room and count money until my hands start hurting. my sister went the college route I was huslin in the streets and my mother as a single parent did not like me in the streets at all but I was paying all the bills, putting food on the table taking my mama out to eat every weekend i bought her a new 2007 accord when it first came out
He could have said it better but he pretty much hit it on the head. Biggie said "you either slang crack rock or got a wicked jumpshot". I mean the truth hurts especially when it comes from the outside. And black women are more driven as well in most regards. I got no beef with what he said he just could have said it better.
@kingru77 While there are black men that work real jobs and go to college most of those black men don't live in poor neighborhoods....some but not many. The real issue is simply the schools in the inner-cities are failing those kids as much as those kids are failing themselves. Where I live locally they don't even have enough books so kids can take them home and study. Imagine that, in the US that kids don't have enough books to take home. But we keep on electing these sorry ass officals and...
Allen Reynolds' upbringing is the result of his closed mind. He comes from one of the most historically racist states Illinois. The Tea Party house fringe groups because anger begets angry people with ill intent. A militia groups was arrested from Illinois for wanting to take on the US government the Hutaree. More importantly the Tea Party has called for people to use the slogan Take Our Country Back meaning what with militia, guns and provocating violence.
the title of this video is as misleading as what the guy in the clip was saying about black guys. The tea party is a collective name for anti-establishment groups with diverse beliefs and objectives. To say that this is a statement from the tea party, and not just one man is totally wrong.
@MrNintoku Im an Australian Aboriginal who begs to differ with you about the levels of racism. But I dont know if you are capable of having an intelligent conversation on facts or if you are more into propagating sensationalism. Sadly most Australians are not even educated in the slightest of their own constitutional rights and dont even know their own laws yet presume to understand the aboriginal dilemma.
@MrNintoku The assumed position of governance over a sovereign people without a treaty is nothing short of an act of war and one of occupation at that. See.., the assumption of Australian being a colony by international law requires a treaty which no treaty has ever been sought with my people. If like others you wish to play flip flop with facts and imply a war of occupation did happen then again.., a) wars of occupation by the time of Australian settlement were illegal under international law
@MrNintoku .., b) if it was a war of occupation then without a treaty that war is still technically lingering to this day!.., Now in the Queens own hand writing she writes no assumed position of authority can be taken over the indigenous people and their sovereign state of self governing must be allowed to continue unhindered but that is not what happened now is it. I will confidently tear apart any debate you wish to present on this matter with the facts about Australian Law and history
@MrNintoku but I am sure you will resort to bigoted uneducated statements of slander and degradation of my peoples character as I have grown accustomed too by Australians who dont even know their own rights and have had it reigned over them by a pack of tyrants that call themselves our parliament. When you ignorant fucks are willing to listen us aboriginal people know the law intimately and have been dragged through it with or without our legal consent., we can help you too!
@MrNintoku Infact the growing trend of legal speakers and human rights activists we see stepping up have nothing more than tailored the aboriginal legal defense to their own cause. Im sure you've heard it said the Queen is no longer our head of state.., so then without declaring independence where does the Australian constitution and legal system draw its authority from? Infact I can show you the Queen not long ago at a UN meeting asserting her authority over the nations she rules
@MrNintoku So., you have a legal quagmire to answer for! Because at this present point in time the current acting government neither has Authority over you or the aboriginal people and is infact acting in a fashion of high treason against the monarch. Australia is the only western country in the world without a bill of rights.., this is a long presentation I doubt you have the mental capacity to comprehend because if you did you would recognise the illegalities of the intervention
@MrNintoku The current intervention into aboriginal affairs which the Australian racial discrimination act had to be suspended for said intervention to be carried out "lawfully" which should in itself raise alarm bells and wreak to high heaven of it illegitimacy. All aboriginal title hold became subject to acquisition and draconian laws have been passed in regards to aboriginal people alone. You sir are a denialist and infact an enabler of the race hate that continues in this country!!
Where this comes into what I said I got no Idea. All I said was that USA's assumption that we're racist due to our humour is BS and that there is probably more racists in their country (which their probably is considering the population difference). Never did I mention Indigenous Australians or the Racial Discrimination Act. Unfortunetly for you the queen doesn't rule us. We declared independance in 1901. Learn your nations history not just your tribes!
@MrNintoku Wow.., Australia declared independence? Lmfao.., then you have much to explain.., like how is the courts benches operate under the Authority of the crown? Why is it up until only recently anyone sworn into office took and oath to the Queen? And why is it that not so long ago the Queen appeared at the UN to re-assert and make her Authority known again where she explicitly indicted Australia as one of those countries. The right to self govern is not independence fool
@MrNintoku So I provided you with video footage of the Queens visit to Australia where she expressly states herself Queen of Australia from the seat of the speaker which bears power and authority over both liberal and labor parties. Your implication that I dont know Australian history because Im indigenous shows your bigotry and is even funnier when it can be so easily proven your knowledge is lacking. My nation? My people have no treaty with the Queen or her house of clowns that represent her!!
the sad thing is, when you ask most black young men what they want to be it is either a sportsstar or a rapper... and that is because how young black menare socialized in america.. psychological programming... and I am a black man so i can say wtf i want about black men.. :-)
On AVERAGE, more women are going to college than men, ethnicity aside. From what I've seen, it's a growing trend across the board in the west. Personally, I think it's just a question of motivation brought on by new social standards for women and men. In short, women are encouraged to be men, men encouraged to be players. And it doesn't help that the new TV male archetype is becoming less like Bill Cosby or Ward Clever, and more like Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin, dumb men with smart wives.
People think that black men and black women face the same level of racism and discrimination in this country, but black men face a way much higher level of racism and discrimination than black women especially when finding a job. My cousin she told me that they won't hire black men at her job. She seen brothas dressed up that are educated looking for a job, they get turned down. So black men that are educated still have a hard time. Some brothas get frustrated to the point they sell drugs.
First of all, not all black men sell drugs. There are alot of black men that choose to work or go to college instead of selling drugs. Now the question is do we support positive black men in the black community? Now this is what i notice, The brothas that sell drugs are what people look up to. Alot of black women get involved with dope boys, i even know some sistas that college educated with drugdealers. Its all about that fast money and good brothas get overlook until they make alot of money.
White men do more drugs than black men. Not only that white men are the biggest drug dealers. Not only they help bring the illegal drugs to the country they sell drugs legally. What you think about acohol/ beer companies, and tobacco companies? How many drunk drivers killed innocent people, how many people died from cancer because of smoking too much cigarettes? Even the pharmaceutical industry is crooked. They makes billions of dollars but people want to blame black men for selling drugs.
White people have always had these stereotypes about minority men and thats never gonna change. Instead of trying to figure ways to help the problem, they'll just sit there and continue to throw their racist statements out there like "well they all like to do drugs and play sports and they need to get real jobs"......... There are some minorities out there that happen to be pretty good at sports and make it to the pros and become very successful.........
@jstockham1 Your rite, not ALL white people, but a good majority of you though...... You seem to be a decent guy, no offense meant in my comment, just giving my opinion man. You have a good one, take care and happy holidays, peace.
I'd challenge you to find one true example of a tea party member who, NOT isn't racist because I'm sure there are some, but is active in trying to HELP black people. Now if you consider saying stuff like this to be help, then we have two different definitions.
@VeggieTrunks first of all, I do not have to prove anything. If you are saying that members of the tea party are racist then you need to prove your claim. Secondly, the tea party is a politic party not group of people that go around helping people, so wtf are you talking about?
@mr41ststreet he was almost right. it should have been rap and gangsta image career over education, that's why black women now have more than twice the number of black men in schools.
@TheCaliCapitalist "Thats because black women are nearly 3 times the population than black men" --> And that's because black men are either in jail or killed each other or by latino gangs. That's all. There is no excuse for the proportion
@UberRepub111 LOL you mentioned Christian Americans and the constitution in the same sentence. Stop talking, Christianity isn't an american value, actually its anti-american. You stupid, you no no america hahahaha my daughter have more balls than you silly american hahahaha.
@sandroeleven Well as soon as you describe to me how to," Go like" i'll be glad to. Whats your definition of a filthy neighborhood? If thats all you've got than you really are as dumb as you sound. If a neighborhood is dirty it is not solely the inhabitants fault, it is the cities responsibility. These people pay taxes like everyone but the city neglects their neighborhood. What i see in a ," Filthy neighborhood" is racist intolerant fucks like you, and boy does that filth stink.
@sandroeleven What causes a neighborhood to be filthy? Could it be the unfair way that cities distribute resources? Drugs? Marijuana MAYBE, but how would poor uneducated people afford expensive drugs like coke, meth, etc.
Wow your dumb, the Education system as whole is producing poorly educated citizens, not only in black communities. Also, only bums hang out on corners. You must have seen a black male bum and crafted your opinion from ignorance and play-doh. By the way, i live in Compton.
The people that live there. Now that wasnt too hard was it? I think its a shame you live in Compton, but do your part to make it a better place. Dont be one of the people who hand on the street drinking all day.
@sandroeleven Lol it's not a shame. You obviously have never been to the city of Compton, its a good place to live. I mentioned that to prove you don't know anything about the things you talk about. If it's the cities job to collect taxes for city maintenance, shouldn't those taxes actually be used for that purpose? You say it's the people fault and duty, how many pounds of garbage do YOU find the time to pickup daily? What, none? I thought so. I don't drink because i'm seventeen.
Good place to live compared to where, Afghanistan? There are filthy mexican gangs all over LA county. They rival eachother. As for the comment about me, when I drop something I pick it up. If the scum that live in some of the areas I see here on east coast picked up after themselves, there nighborhoods would be cleaner.
@sandroeleven Again, your dumb. How many times have you been to Compton? And what year was this? If you knew anything you would know that Compton actually has a relatively low crime rate, as well as many new housing projects, an increased police presence, and contrary to what the media and news promote Compton, in 2010 is NOT a dangerous place to live. By the way, Americans in general produce the most waste in the world, not just," filthy neighborhoods".
That is not what I hear on the news. Although that is good if there are condos and such going up. Fine I take you at your word, But that is not the case for other areas.
@LesediLoFi So let me get this straight... negroes spent a great deal of the 1990's using a (very violent and confrontational) form of lyrical expression in an exhausted hope of making whites in America aware of the above-average levels of crime, violent assault, and drug abuse in the city of Compton, and now, at last, white people have begun to acknowledge and listen to them - and you're calling them liars? You can't both be right. Which of you is full of shit?
@UberRepub111 Republicans are supposed to be for a smaller government, so why do you bring up gay marriage? That involves government intervention with personal lives. I don't want a huge government. I don't want anyone saying what religious values they should follow, it goes against conservatism.
And come on, "Obummer"? These are insults only 2nd graders find funny.
Shut the fuck up I'm so tired of people calling other people racist . The civil rights age is over. Stop fighting because your pissed you didn't get to in the 50s
LOL! do you know how many white women use to come to the hospital addicted to all types of drugs, especially prescriptions. They cover it up by being soccer moms and living in working and middle class areas. They pop pills just like black people smoke weed and do crack. White kids take coke! we all have our issues.
@TheDavidson1932 I wonder why we even have BOTH the Republican and Tea Party at this point. It is redundant. The GOP is aligning with the Tea party more than ever. The GOP should just be disbanded since it no longer represents the values it originally stood for, and just use the Tea Party as the official party for these new values that have nothing to do with the original GOP.
@JurgenJust Actually, white conservatives always completely ignore the fact that they have been shut out of most well-paying throughout most of American History. This fact is magnified in poor neighborhoods.
The really awful thing about Reynolds' generalization is that the people he's reaching, Tea Party constituents, hear the lowest common denominator in all this, which ends up being something like this: "Minorities are bad... Blacks and Hispanics are bad... the President, hey isn't he Black?... Vote for me I'm like you... I'm not a witch... I'm white... like you."
Where Reynold's makes his mistake is that instead of saying something stupid he could ask: "hey look, we have a lot of minority men wasting their lives on drug trade... what can we do to turn this around?" Without making it sound like all minority men sell drugs, but at least acknowledging that programs need to address the at risk young men to prevent them from entering that lifestyle. And for the sake of sanity, let's just get these drugs under control once and for all!
i really don't think this is in any way bad. of course he's stereotyping he's talking about a huge group of people! I did not think he was demeaning minorities in any way. why else would people sell drugs? it's easier and you get paid more than working a low-wage, shit job your whole life. same with sports or w/e it is. it's a way out of the horrible circumstance youre stuck in. nothing bad about that.. I don't think he's being racist i think you're being way too sensitive.
@crayyawn okay well now watching again i see that he is sort of blaming minorities. saying it's their fault for doing things "easier" than getting an education. if he's just saying, hey many minorities are in really bad circumstances a lot of people aren't motivated to get an education, we need to help them get better education and better jobs, i'm all for what he's saying. if he's blaming minorities, however, saying its something inherently wrong in them to not want education, thats fucked up
@crayyawn - I agree with you... Reynolds missed a good opportunity. But to Cenk's discredit, he turned this into a political thing, instead of a discussion about a real problem facing minority men, especially in the inner cities. But what do you expect a couple of weeks before the mid-term elections. :)
George W. Bush and the republicans have caused the worst economic mess and unemployment ever! It takes more than 2 years to clean up after them! It's incredible that workingclass people and middleclass people can vote for stupid Sarah Palin and O'Donnell and the uneducated and crazy Tea Party people! The rich Wall Street Guys and oilbillionaires must be laughing of these useful idiots
@moltenchromium I agree with you there. You cannot use combined anecdotal experience to suggest how a certain ethnic or religious group is like. There's so much variety in a collection of experiences for many people.
@UberRepub111 isn't keeping gay marriage illegal also too much government control, though? Getting back to God? Religion is something that is personal and I don't want my government telling me what to follow.
As a liberal leaner I think both parties are trying to stick their grubby fingers into our personal lives but in different ways. Where is that party that lets me eat the food I want, and also doesn't suggest religions for me? I want a party that lets everyone be themselves.
these tea party Nazis are getting racist by the day !!! It's very sad they have that many people that calls themself teabaggers, you can tell these are the last days !!!
This is taken way out of proportion. Sometimes people say right things the wrong way, and this person could have stated what he said better. However, he didn't say he didn't want to fix it, he said he wants to increase the opportunities and incentives for black men to go to college.
#1 reason for the plight of black man in America?
Where the fuck is Daddy!!! No one wants to talk about it, but if Daddy ain't home, chances are his kids are going to be a drain on society - welfare, crime, prisons, drugs, alcohol. etc. The majority, perhaps vast majority, will not contribute to society (except maybe rap, basketball and drugs).
@AllknowingGuitarGuru Actually, that's not quite true. Minorities are more likely to be ARRESTED for drug crime (mainly possession). However, white people are much more likely to actually use drugs (marijuana, methamphetamine, etc.).
@shalcall - I'm not sure if you intended to say what you did. Possession? Do you mean with intent to sell? Because sadly it's ostensible that minorities are more often associated with sale and transport of drugs. I don't think you're arguing this point, are you? Anyway, I stand by my original statement: I'm not sure if pointing this out is racism. It is racism to state that all minorities are involved in the drug trade. And i agree that whites account for a good percentage of drug consumption.
@AllknowingGuitarGuru No, I meant possession. The vast majority of people in jail for drug crime are in jail for possession. Look, I could wax poetic on the issue all day on youtube, but you can research it yourself. There are several studies that show the most drug offenders today (mostly black) are in jail for possession of small amounts of illegal substances, even though the vast majority of users are white.
@shalcall - i'm going to have to agree with you on possession. There is definitely an inequity in terms of where law enforcement chooses to enforce the law, as you stated more white use drugs, but more blacks are arrested for it's use. A quick look at the pat on the wrist the Lindsay Lohans get reveal that truth. However, you're going to have a difficult time arguing against the idea that the preponderance of the drug traffickers are Blacks and Latino gangs. That is widely acknowledged.
@AllknowingGuitarGuru The preponderance of drug traffickers have always been gangs. Be it the Italian mafia in the 70's and 80's, the biker gang in the southwest during the 90's, and black and latino gangs in the 90's and today.
My issue with the guy in this video is him stating that black men CHOOSE a life of drugs willingly over working. That's simply untrue, and clearly a bigoted opinion even if his intentions are good.
@shalcall - Look, I don't like Tea Baggers as a general rule. And I'm predisposed to seeing them as racist... my bad. But there are clearly a great deal of Blacks and Latinos choosing the drug lifestyle. To ignore this fact does a disservice to Black and Latino communities which are struggling with gang violence that is drug driven (according the Justice Department: "Organized Gangs and Drug Trafficking").
@shalcall Cont'd - In the context of drug trafficking more minorities than white men are involved in elicit drug sales. I don't like to hear this, but it's true. I just don't think it's necessarily racism to point out that fact. Perhaps we should be asking why these young men are turning to drug trafficking? It's a complex issue. But instead of labeling this racism we should be having a discussion about how we can produce change.
@AllknowingGuitarGuru When most of the drug trade went through the mafia during the 70's I have never read about how we need to address why all these Italians are turning to a life of crime.
I'm not denying that many drug dealers are minorities. What I have a problem with is how this guy implies that the MAJORITY of black males are choosing the drug life. Do you understand the difference? Because I think you realize that the MAJORITY of black males are not trafficking in drugs.
@shalcall i'm not condemning your argument: generalizing statements about minorities and drugs is unproductive. I'm saying the war on drugs is a joke. We wage a $trillion war because 3,000 people die but we can't wage a winnable war on drugs (stop it cold at the border) which accounts for more deaths each year, and losses in the billions. We can stop drugs coming over the border, but we don't. Why? So Reynolds needs to stop pointing a finger at a symptom and help find a meaningful solution.
@AllknowingGuitarGuru Well we can agree that the war on drugs is a joke and that we need to find a meaningful solution. I think you should stop as much as you can at the border, but I believe that most come in by boats so that they can avoid a border crossing. So I think a more meaningful solution might be cultural (reduce the demand for drugs).
I'm not sure exactly how you would accomplish that.
@shalcall There is a bigger issue with Mexico on top of all this. The US has, for over 100 years, destabilized Latin American governments. The US has supported the Mexican aristocracy at the expense of the Mexican people. As a result Mexico has an almost non existent middle class and a corrupt law enforcement infrastructure. Now those seeds of discontent and social inequities have resulted in a permanent criminal class whose violence is overflowing into our country.
@JoesephKatana What? You agree that black men don't want an education and prefer to get into drugs or sports? You realize that this is a stereotype that isn't actually borne out by actual facts right?
@shalcall No, I don't think they WANT that, I think it proves much more lucrative and attractive then an 4 years of college where a job is not guaranteed but loan payments are. I think in the increasingly anti-intellectual America becoming a successful lawyer, scientist or doctor is overshadowed by the prospect of becoming a famous athlete. Unfortunately racism-whistle-blowers serve to inhibit any progress in addressing social problems that happen follow racial divides.
@JoesephKatana Too many people that call for addressing social problems in the black community tend to frame their arguments in such a way that it becomes obvious those people feel there is something innately inferior about being black.
Limited choices and failing schools are indicative of poverty stricken areas all over the world and have little to do with race. There are similar problems in the hills of W.VA. and in Alaska where the preferred drug is crystal meth.
@shalcall And yet the problem in question, as a generality at that location, follows racial and gender divides. This is not irrelevant. It would be key in any government effort to effectively assist with the problem. No ones saying its BECAUSE they are black males, they are saying its a trend among black males.
In this way the same sensitivity intended to protect blacks from racism now works to impede blacks from receiving aid with residual problems possibly caused by past racism.
instead of actually trying to address some solutions on how to better engage black males in our education system, he goes into some over simplified and presumptuous commentary on why they don't really want an education? amazing.
2: democrats are not like you republican who sheep and her around according to your political label.
Try thinking for yourself and stop claiming worthless political parties because both are in it for the money and neither D nor R give a damn about your personal life.
@world1spot Wow I was talking about recent history but I didn't mean THAT recent. NO SHIT no one alive today was a slave I was putting my argument in historical context. Way to fail, and if you don't think that your history effects you in the present than you are a moron. Have a good one.
It's funny because the largest dipropotionate drug consumers and distributers are white people. Because they are rarely prosecuted or targeted they aren't mentioned.
TheCaliCapitalist 1 week ago
@TheCaliCapitalist Of course they are but you can't tell the American people that. It seems so much better saying that black people are.

He paints with a broad brush, but I hear what he is saying. It's ironic that the north fought for the freedom of blacks and now northern states/cities are being destroyed by the very black people they helped free. Why a majority of blacks choose to treat each other like garbage (especially their women) and insist on being uneducated thugs is beyond me.

aTellerOfTruths 7 months ago
Is it not true though? 60something percent of black mothers are single and black males are by far the #1 users of illegal drugs. To be honest, i'd rather not have people sugar coat things like that, and especially when its a problem as profound as drug use and lack of education. Furthermore, instead of being a simple jab at black culture, he did say that there should be preventative measure set in place to better the situation. More tact could have been used, but the statement wasn't racist.
yootubematt 8 months ago
@yootubematt, actually if you take a look at the U.S. justice department stats you'd see that current illicit drug use is at 11.1% for whites and 9.3%for blacks. Also Race/Ethnicity and Gender differences in drug use states white males and females use drugs and sell them at a higher rate than blacks in both gender catagories.Yes we have larger single parent households than whites, but while our numbers and falling yours are rising. Ref. Department of Family and Children Services.
bmoe8880 7 months ago
@bmoe8880 not trying start a flame war or whatever, but the CDC puts blacks at 9.8% and whites at 8.5% which is nearly identical to the ONDCP stats. Furthermore, 66% of black youth (under 18) admitted to using marijuana at least once as compared to 42% of white youth according to the OAS.
Either way, both of our stats are based on surveys that rely on the honesty of those asked, which is obviously less than accurate when dealing with illegal substances.
yootubematt 7 months ago
@yootubematt FYI ,DOJ doesn't track their stats from surveys. They track them by the people who they arrest for drugs and in the report whites are #1. I didn't say you were trying to start a ...what did you call it? A "flame war", and neither am I. When I saw an inaccuracy and just wanted to correct it. What you should think about is the fact whites drug use is 11.1% and blacks are 9.3% but blacks are the ones doing all the time.
bmoe8880 7 months ago
@bmoe8880 wait wait wait... let me see if i can sum up your argument. the DOJ takes its info based on arrests which show that whites do drugs more. Then you go on to say that blacks are "doing all the time".
So which is it? Are there more whites being arrested or more blacks? You can't be the victim AND the victor.
yootubematt 7 months ago
@yootubematt blacks are 13% of the population yet we represent 37% of the people arrested for drug related offenses, and 56% of the people in state prisons for drug related offenses. ACLU found that blacks are 3x's as likely to be stooped as whites. 85% of blacks and Latinos stopped are searched that's compared to 8% for whites. Victor, I didn't know we were in a contest. No disrespect all I am saying is your approach is so sweeping and one sided without a true knowledge of the subject.
bmoe8880 7 months ago
So you know that 60% of single mothers has a lot to do with that 56% incarceration record I quoted to you, the war on drugs was only fought in the black community even though we don't own boats or planes to bring the drugs into the country.
bmoe8880 7 months ago
@bmoe8880 You ignored my refutation of your original argument, but thats ok. You could also argue that the reason so many blacks are being arrested is because its the blacks that are doing the crimes. I sympathize with the fact that blacks have been mistreated in the past, and i'm positive that it happens to this day, however, I believe that the staggering statistics that you mentioned are not the product of racism, but of black people committing crimes. You cant say that just because (contd)..
yootubematt 7 months ago
@yootubematt (contd)... just because blacks are being arrested means that its racism. Its obvious that any race that commits a crime more often than another will be arrested more. If you believe that so many blacks are arrested because of racism, then thats fine; it is my belief that black culture's glorification of drug use has led many blacks to grow up idolizing dealers and musicians who brag about using the illegal drugs, and therefor leads more blacks down that road than whites.
yootubematt 7 months ago
@yootubematt, I answered all your comments in the last 2 posts. Actually....crime tracked over the past 10 years show that WHITES committ 70% of the crime in america. 200 people have been released because of DNA evidence and 120 are black. I agree with you the race committing the most crimes should be policed more but in this case that isn't being done they are targeting blacks and latinos, Why? If it's not racism then what is it I really would like to know since you seem to.
bmoe8880 7 months ago
@yootubematt contd. Poverty creates more drug dealers than rap music does your just using a common cop out. This excuse keeps not just blacks but whites from focusing on the fact that 2% of the country owns 75% of it's wealth, and that makes more drug dealers and criminals than any rap video ever will, and rap isn't black culture. Rap is a marketable product being sold 68% to whites not blacks.Use you head if you do more drugs than we do who's getting the bulk of the messages in rap music.

Sadly most Australians are not even educated in the slightest of their own constitutional rights and dont even know their own laws yet presume to understand the aboriginal dilemma.
mysty0 1 year ago
@MrNintoku The assumed position of governance over a sovereign people without a treaty is nothing short of an act of war and one of occupation at that. See.., the assumption of Australian being a colony by international law requires a treaty which no treaty has ever been sought with my people. If like others you wish to play flip flop with facts and imply a war of occupation did happen then again.., a) wars of occupation by the time of Australian settlement were illegal under international law
mysty0 1 year ago
@MrNintoku .., b) if it was a war of occupation then without a treaty that war is still technically lingering to this day!.., Now in the Queens own hand writing she writes no assumed position of authority can be taken over the indigenous people and their sovereign state of self governing must be allowed to continue unhindered but that is not what happened now is it. I will confidently tear apart any debate you wish to present on this matter with the facts about Australian Law and history
mysty0 1 year ago
@MrNintoku but I am sure you will resort to bigoted uneducated statements of slander and degradation of my peoples character as I have grown accustomed too by Australians who dont even know their own rights and have had it reigned over them by a pack of tyrants that call themselves our parliament. When you ignorant fucks are willing to listen us aboriginal people know the law intimately and have been dragged through it with or without our legal consent., we can help you too!
mysty0 1 year ago
@MrNintoku Infact the growing trend of legal speakers and human rights activists we see stepping up have nothing more than tailored the aboriginal legal defense to their own cause. Im sure you've heard it said the Queen is no longer our head of state.., so then without declaring independence where does the Australian constitution and legal system draw its authority from? Infact I can show you the Queen not long ago at a UN meeting asserting her authority over the nations she rules
mysty0 1 year ago
@MrNintoku So., you have a legal quagmire to answer for! Because at this present point in time the current acting government neither has Authority over you or the aboriginal people and is infact acting in a fashion of high treason against the monarch. Australia is the only western country in the world without a bill of rights.., this is a long presentation I doubt you have the mental capacity to comprehend because if you did you would recognise the illegalities of the intervention
mysty0 1 year ago
@MrNintoku The current intervention into aboriginal affairs which the Australian racial discrimination act had to be suspended for said intervention to be carried out "lawfully" which should in itself raise alarm bells and wreak to high heaven of it illegitimacy. All aboriginal title hold became subject to acquisition and draconian laws have been passed in regards to aboriginal people alone. You sir are a denialist and infact an enabler of the race hate that continues in this country!!
mysty0 1 year ago
@mysty0
MrNintoku 1 year ago
@MrNintoku Wow.., Australia declared independence? Lmfao.., then you have much to explain.., like how is the courts benches operate under the Authority of the crown? Why is it up until only recently anyone sworn into office took and oath to the Queen? And why is it that not so long ago the Queen appeared at the UN to re-assert and make her Authority known again where she explicitly indicted Australia as one of those countries. The right to self govern is not independence fool
mysty0 1 year ago
@MrNintoku So I provided you with video footage of the Queens visit to Australia where she expressly states herself Queen of Australia from the seat of the speaker which bears power and authority over both liberal and labor parties. Your implication that I dont know Australian history because Im indigenous shows your bigotry and is even funnier when it can be so easily proven your knowledge is lacking. My nation? My people have no treaty with the Queen or her house of clowns that represent her!!

4life1deep 1 year ago
First of all, not all black men sell drugs. There are alot of black men that choose to work or go to college instead of selling drugs. Now the question is do we support positive black men in the black community? Now this is what i notice, The brothas that sell drugs are what people look up to. Alot of black women get involved with dope boys, i even know some sistas that college educated with drugdealers. Its all about that fast money and good brothas get overlook until they make alot of money.
4life1deep 1 year ago
White men do more drugs than black men. Not only that white men are the biggest drug dealers. Not only they help bring the illegal drugs to the country they sell drugs legally. What you think about acohol/ beer companies, and tobacco companies? How many drunk drivers killed innocent people, how many people died from cancer because of smoking too much cigarettes? Even the pharmaceutical industry is crooked. They makes billions of dollars but people want to blame black men for selling drugs.
4life1deep 1 year ago
White people have always had these stereotypes about minority men and thats never gonna change. Instead of trying to figure ways to help the problem, they'll just sit there and continue to throw their racist statements out there like "well they all like to do drugs and play sports and they need to get real jobs"......... There are some minorities out there that happen to be pretty good at sports and make it to the pros and become very successful.........

sandroeleven 1 year ago
@sandroeleven Again, your dumb. How many times have you been to Compton? And what year was this? If you knew anything you would know that Compton actually has a relatively low crime rate, as well as many new housing projects, an increased police presence, and contrary to what the media and news promote Compton, in 2010 is NOT a dangerous place to live. By the way, Americans in general produce the most waste in the world, not just," filthy neighborhoods".
The scum bags ARE your neighbors.

I'm white... like you."
AllknowingGuitarGuru 1 year ago
Where Reynold's makes his mistake is that instead of saying something stupid he could ask: "hey look, we have a lot of minority men wasting their lives on drug trade... what can we do to turn this around?" Without making it sound like all minority men sell drugs, but at least acknowledging that programs need to address the at risk young men to prevent them from entering that lifestyle. And for the sake of sanity, let's just get these drugs under control once and for all!
AllknowingGuitarGuru 1 year ago
i really don't think this is in any way bad. of course he's stereotyping he's talking about a huge group of people! I did not think he was demeaning minorities in any way. why else would people sell drugs? it's easier and you get paid more than working a low-wage, shit job your whole life. same with sports or w/e it is. it's a way out of the horrible circumstance youre stuck in. nothing bad about that.. I don't think he's being racist i think you're being way too sensitive.
crayyawn 1 year ago
@crayyawn okay well now watching again i see that he is sort of blaming minorities. saying it's their fault for doing things "easier" than getting an education. if he's just saying, hey many minorities are in really bad circumstances a lot of people aren't motivated to get an education, we need to help them get better education and better jobs, i'm all for what he's saying. if he's blaming minorities, however, saying its something inherently wrong in them to not want education, thats fucked up
crayyawn 1 year ago
@crayyawn - I agree with you... Reynolds missed a good opportunity. But to Cenk's discredit, he turned this into a political thing, instead of a discussion about a real problem facing minority men, especially in the inner cities. But what do you expect a couple of weeks before the mid-term elections. :)

Through a study of history and looking at current events along with my personal experience yes I can easily come to that conclusion.

This is taken way out of proportion. Sometimes people say right things the wrong way, and this person could have stated what he said better. However, he didn't say he didn't want to fix it, he said he wants to increase the opportunities and incentives for black men to go to college.
ChristianMission 1 year ago
Your title twisted his words.
666sigma 1 year ago
@AllknowingGuitarGuru Actually, that's not quite true. Minorities are more likely to be ARRESTED for drug crime (mainly possession). However, white people are much more likely to actually use drugs (marijuana, methamphetamine, etc.).
shalcall 1 year ago
@shalcall - I'm not sure if you intended to say what you did. Possession? Do you mean with intent to sell? Because sadly it's ostensible that minorities are more often associated with sale and transport of drugs. I don't think you're arguing this point, are you? Anyway, I stand by my original statement: I'm not sure if pointing this out is racism. It is racism to state that all minorities are involved in the drug trade. And i agree that whites account for a good percentage of drug consumption.
AllknowingGuitarGuru 1 year ago
@AllknowingGuitarGuru No, I meant possession. The vast majority of people in jail for drug crime are in jail for possession. Look, I could wax poetic on the issue all day on youtube, but you can research it yourself. There are several studies that show the most drug offenders today (mostly black) are in jail for possession of small amounts of illegal substances, even though the vast majority of users are white.
shalcall 1 year ago
@shalcall - i'm going to have to agree with you on possession. There is definitely an inequity in terms of where law enforcement chooses to enforce the law, as you stated more white use drugs, but more blacks are arrested for it's use. A quick look at the pat on the wrist the Lindsay Lohans get reveal that truth. However, you're going to have a difficult time arguing against the idea that the preponderance of the drug traffickers are Blacks and Latino gangs. That is widely acknowledged.
AllknowingGuitarGuru 1 year ago
@AllknowingGuitarGuru The preponderance of drug traffickers have always been gangs. Be it the Italian mafia in the 70's and 80's, the biker gang in the southwest during the 90's, and black and latino gangs in the 90's and today.
My issue with the guy in this video is him stating that black men CHOOSE a life of drugs willingly over working. That's simply untrue, and clearly a bigoted opinion even if his intentions are good.
shalcall 1 year ago
@shalcall - Look, I don't like Tea Baggers as a general rule. And I'm predisposed to seeing them as racist... my bad. But there are clearly a great deal of Blacks and Latinos choosing the drug lifestyle. To ignore this fact does a disservice to Black and Latino communities which are struggling with gang violence that is drug driven (according the Justice Department: "Organized Gangs and Drug Trafficking").
AllknowingGuitarGuru 1 year ago
@shalcall Cont'd - In the context of drug trafficking more minorities than white men are involved in elicit drug sales. I don't like to hear this, but it's true. I just don't think it's necessarily racism to point out that fact. Perhaps we should be asking why these young men are turning to drug trafficking? It's a complex issue. But instead of labeling this racism we should be having a discussion about how we can produce change.
AllknowingGuitarGuru 1 year ago
@AllknowingGuitarGuru When most of the drug trade went through the mafia during the 70's I have never read about how we need to address why all these Italians are turning to a life of crime.
I'm not denying that many drug dealers are minorities. What I have a problem with is how this guy implies that the MAJORITY of black males are choosing the drug life. Do you understand the difference? Because I think you realize that the MAJORITY of black males are not trafficking in drugs.
shalcall 1 year ago
@shalcall i'm not condemning your argument: generalizing statements about minorities and drugs is unproductive. I'm saying the war on drugs is a joke. We wage a $trillion war because 3,000 people die but we can't wage a winnable war on drugs (stop it cold at the border) which accounts for more deaths each year, and losses in the billions. We can stop drugs coming over the border, but we don't. Why? So Reynolds needs to stop pointing a finger at a symptom and help find a meaningful solution.
AllknowingGuitarGuru 1 year ago
@AllknowingGuitarGuru Well we can agree that the war on drugs is a joke and that we need to find a meaningful solution. I think you should stop as much as you can at the border, but I believe that most come in by boats so that they can avoid a border crossing. So I think a more meaningful solution might be cultural (reduce the demand for drugs).
I'm not sure exactly how you would accomplish that.
shalcall 1 year ago
@shalcall There is a bigger issue with Mexico on top of all this. The US has, for over 100 years, destabilized Latin American governments. The US has supported the Mexican aristocracy at the expense of the Mexican people. As a result Mexico has an almost non existent middle class and a corrupt law enforcement infrastructure. Now those seeds of discontent and social inequities have resulted in a permanent criminal class whose violence is overflowing into our country.
AllknowingGuitarGuru 1 year ago
I agree with Reynolds on this, he should've just worded it better.
JoesephKatana 1 year ago
@JoesephKatana What? You agree that black men don't want an education and prefer to get into drugs or sports? You realize that this is a stereotype that isn't actually borne out by actual facts right?
shalcall 1 year ago
@shalcall No, I don't think they WANT that, I think it proves much more lucrative and attractive then an 4 years of college where a job is not guaranteed but loan payments are. I think in the increasingly anti-intellectual America becoming a successful lawyer, scientist or doctor is overshadowed by the prospect of becoming a famous athlete. Unfortunately racism-whistle-blowers serve to inhibit any progress in addressing social problems that happen follow racial divides.
JoesephKatana 1 year ago
@JoesephKatana Too many people that call for addressing social problems in the black community tend to frame their arguments in such a way that it becomes obvious those people feel there is something innately inferior about being black.
Limited choices and failing schools are indicative of poverty stricken areas all over the world and have little to do with race. There are similar problems in the hills of W.VA. and in Alaska where the preferred drug is crystal meth.
shalcall 1 year ago
@shalcall And yet the problem in question, as a generality at that location, follows racial and gender divides. This is not irrelevant. It would be key in any government effort to effectively assist with the problem. No ones saying its BECAUSE they are black males, they are saying its a trend among black males.
In this way the same sensitivity intended to protect blacks from racism now works to impede blacks from receiving aid with residual problems possibly caused by past racism.

Actually, Cenk, I believe you misunderstood that candidates point.
