For those...who like me on the 1st listen. John Martyn is making "ALL" these sounds. There is no backing tape or band at all. It's all Johns mastery of his Echoplex....
I'm now 53, and I saw this incredible performance on the BBC "Guitar Heroes" a few years ago....never knew of John before..even though he was of my era. So much good music around in the 60's/70's that many artists like John got missed.?!? Now I am a massive fan of Johns work. Hope our future generations will get to know of the "Big Mans" magic. The ECHOPLEX was Johns Magic & he was a one Man orchestra.

Wow you clearly dont listen to very much music do you? I hate these broad derogatory holier than thou music snobs, theres as much garbage from your era of music, whatever that is , as in any other time period. You either like music or you dont.
@davfarr77 I'm 34 by the way and alot of todays music runs rings around music from when I was growing up. You should open your mind to new stuff and not just be content with what your comfortable with.
Rant aside, John Martin was a pioneer who'll one day get the proper recognition he deserves. RIP legend.
