I have watched so many videos and the all show holding the thread with the index finger, I simply can not do it this way and just hold it with my middle finger as you do, maybe because I am a long time knitter and crocheter holding my yarn/thread this way. Am so glad I found your video and you hold thread the way I do, so as good as you are it seems that it is fine the way I hold. Thank you so much, now I don't feel such an "outcast" in my tatting group!!! You are A+++ on instructions!!
I echo the positive comments. I watched several tatting how-to vidoes but yours *really* illustrated the flip which has been driving me nuts. Thank you!
I thank you for the way you demonstrate tatting. I thought it would be something tough to learn but you made it sooooo easy and simple...loved it...I'm looking forward to more videos...lol..I'm a rookie.
Oh God bless you! You are such a great teacher! I wish I had found your video's first. I've been muddling though by reading and trying to figure out how from still pictures. I finally figured it out but it would have been so much quicker if I'd seen this first!
This is SOOOO clear...thank you so much for taking the time to help all of us who would like to learn this almost lost art but couldn't find anyone who knew how to tat to help us. Well thought out instructions, background and materials...so easy to see...you certainly are an accomplished teacher...
@ZeRtiste62 this is rude....she was kind enough to teach us. people pronounce things differently. I think you need to go back to school for social etiquette.
@ZeRtiste62 - since you seem to appreciate correction - it's "TAUT" meaning tight or stretched with tension, not "TAUGHT" which is the past tense of Teach, which means to instruct or impart knowledge. "Hold the thread taut." "She taught the correct way to tat."
Thank you tjsproudmom for the very informative video. I am trying to decide which sort of tatting I want to pursue.
Thank you thank you thank you!!!! I have been trying to learn from countless books and videos but no one has demonstrated the "flip" of the knot. You have THE BEST video. I love you.
I have viewed many videos and yours was the most clear. The beginning of the video does cut out (FYI). Maybe you could continue making videos? Thanks Maureen

"TAUGHT" meaning tight. Not "Taunt" which means to bother or annoy. "Hold the thread taught" "Don't taunt the lion in the cage".
Otherwise great video for teaching the steps and big enough to actually see.
