Just got this exact model off ebay yesterday, it just need a new belt bags and headlight bulb, it is in mint condition with just a couple of scratches here and there. I am assuming that mine is from 1983/84 as well? I believe you sold or gave this to chris now and it is no longer in your possetion.
@NumaticVacuum Yep after many years of ownership this one got passed on. The 2194 ran from 1983-1985 before it was replaced by the green one, U2332. great little vacuums love them.
I love the turbopowers and i like the purepower range too I just don't understand why when the purepowers took over hoover shortly after stopped the production of the turbopower.
@NumaticVacuum well if you think, in about 1997 when the purepower first came out, the Turbopower was terribly old fashioned. It still had a dirty fan motor and pretty much 0 filtration lol like all big companies, i'm sure hoover wanted to stay competitive and keep up with the likes of Electrolux and Dyson which were just starting to break into the market around that time.
@U5096 hmmm but what about the turbo two and three? they were clean air motors but I guss they still looked a little like the older turbopowers but I suppose hoover wanted to bring out something new and didn't want to vacuum models that practically offerd the same features.
I have been trying to find this hoover. It would be great if i could get a decent recording of the U2194's noise, it used to make me fall asleep as a kid, and now as an adult with severe imsomnia, a good recording from this particular hoover could be turned into a sleeping aid for myself and perhaps other people. The quality of this video's sound doesnt carry the bass tone with the white noise so it doesnt have the desired effect i'm looking for. A high quality version might. nudge nudge. lol
Hello there! I have a model exactly the same as the one you have here and love it, great machine, I left you a comment before I think? Could you tell me where you got your cloth bag for yours? I have looked high and low but with no luck. Thank you so much, I'd appreciate your help. C.
@COLUM72 I found them on ebay, they're meant to be for the Purepower but they fit the turbopower fine. Any of the Purepower High-filteration bags are an improvement over the standard Turbopower ones
yes very, however the only thing that lets them down is the filteration, they tend to blow loads of dust out unless you use really thick bags, I use Hoover Purepower high filteration cloth bags in mine and that helps a hell of a lot.
Hello! I purchased a Hoover Turbopower indentical to the one you have, I got it off ebay 2 weeks ago for £21, excellent condition. The only thing I have noticed is that the wheels are very squeeky and its doing my head in and the light lens is just beginning to yellow very slightly, not noticable as yet. Enjoyed reading all your comments and your videos are wonderful. Well done!
hi yeh I used a new slalom last week and im very impressed, its a lovely little vac to use and seems to do a really good job and grooms the carpet just like the old ones used to. It is bloody heavy though and a little flimsy, but its miles better than anything else Hoover have brought out in the last 10 years. We'll just have to wait and see if they're as reliable as the old ones, I wouldn't bet any money on it tho!
Yea my favourite still is the turbopower (1) and the turbomaster. I have just bought one off ebay for £4.99 + p+p. Buts its green I cant find the modle no.
Hey there again Vintage Hoover. My name is Keith and I am for sure a Vac' collector. Do you know of anyone within the trader world that would know how to refurb a machine?
I do refurbs myself depending on what vacuum it is and as long as your willing to cover the cost of parts and postage for the vac. I can provide invoices and receipts too for any parts I need to get. I'll send you a message with my email
yes, its main competitor was probably the Elecrolux 500/Twinturbo series. The Electrolux was a much more advanced than the Turbopower and had clean fan layout rather than being dirty fan which was quite rare in upright cleaners at the time. Other rivals included the Moulinex Major, Towards the end of the 80's other uprights from Panasonic and Hitachi started also rivalled the turbopower. By the 1990's the Turbopower, although still popular it was quite outdated
no I used to be on hooverland but I dont get time for it anymore really, most of my mates that I used to spk to on there come round my place anyway now or I go to theirs
I have a red Autoflex but its very fragile, it was nicknamed the glass turbopower because the red plastic had a habit of shattering very easily, and it gets worse with age. So they're very rare because most of them got broken years ago. Occasionally you do see a blue Autoflex but theyre also really rare
ya, i can make probably $1000 if i sell my vacs, but i am too attached to them. i got rid of the soveriegn because i got $100 trade-in value on a new vac
its probably cos i am gay mate and i've been with my boyfreind for 3 years. i make them because i like sharing my collection with other people, yeh it's weird but people collect all sorts of weird shit, im not the only one lol
Good advice. Wot a tit head. Keep it up, dude. Great vids :D. I remember my Dad having one of these Turbopowers for a bit in his first house after my parents split up. It was one of the best I've seen for grooming the pile.
its like an american cleaner and did the 1000 come in black if it did then thanks for telling me the year. i also want to know if the 1000 came with tools
The Turbopower makes my carpet look like a freshly mowed football pitch when i've used it lol leaves stripes everywhere, it really does revive the carpet like it used to say in the ad's

I think a lot of people would agree that the Turbopower was a well deserved successor of a great machine (the Junior).

U5096 3 years ago
one question is there such a thing as the turbo power series
ben1245689 3 years ago
Yes there were loads of different models and colours of Turbopowers over the years
U5096 3 years ago
does this cleaner have a twospeed motor
ben1245689 3 years ago
No the early Turbopowers didnt have a 2 two speed motor, that didnt come until the second generation of Turbopowers from 1985 onwards
U5096 3 years ago
like the autoflex

U5096 4 years ago

adb140275 4 years ago
dnt worry, we've all done it lol
U5096 4 years ago

U5096 4 years ago

sorcerer101567 4 years ago
whats your vacuum land profile
ben1245689 3 years ago
i got a hoover turbopower 3000 and im not sure when it was made but could you tell me the year it was made
ben1245689 3 years ago
turbopower 3000 or 1000? never heard of the 3000 but if its the 1000 it'll be from about 1992-1994
U5096 3 years ago
its like an american cleaner and did the 1000 come in black if it did then thanks for telling me the year. i also want to know if the 1000 came with tools
ben1245689 3 years ago
yeh the 1000 was black and it had on board tools and the Autosense feature that sensed how much dirt was in the carpet
U5096 3 years ago
i think that my turbopower 3000 is really the turbopower 1000
ben1245689 3 years ago
where did you get this hoover turbopower
jeanettebyrne 4 years ago
this one came from a local rubbish dump and needed a bit of 'restoration' work on it
U5096 4 years ago
have u got a dump valve and some boost gauges on that hoover
hpi1503 4 years ago
lol it ain't as Turbo-charged as the name suggests
U5096 4 years ago
how many hoover vacuums do you got including turbo powered hoovers
ben1245689 4 years ago
Probably around 150 but i'll be reducing that because im moving to a smaller place soon
U5096 4 years ago
do you have a turbo powered hoover junior and a hoover starlight
ben1245689 4 years ago
I've got a Turbopower Junior somewhere but I sold my Starlight on ebay recently. The Starlight sounded very similar to the Turbopower
U5096 4 years ago
so this turbo powered cleaner is a little similar to the hoover starlight
ben1245689 4 years ago
Yeh kinda, the Starlights don't seem to sound as smooth as the Turbopowers though
U5096 4 years ago
is the turbo powered junior you got the same one that you just put up on youtube
ben1245689 4 years ago
no, the Turbopower Junior was based on a regular hard bag turbopower but with a soft bag but it shared the same hood and motor
U5096 4 years ago
are all 150vacuumsinvolve every single vacuum that hoover uk has ever made
ben1245689 4 years ago
no my collection is made up of all different manufacturers mainly from the 80's
U5096 4 years ago
This Hoover still has its showroom gleam. it's a Hoover modle U2194, Hoover 2190 being the hardbox Junior 1346A
revooh1 4 years ago
The Turbopower makes my carpet look like a freshly mowed football pitch when i've used it lol leaves stripes everywhere, it really does revive the carpet like it used to say in the ad's
U5096 4 years ago
I used to love the way those cleaners gave your carpet that "just vacuumed" finish.
