Way too many people like this awful movie, I hated it. It was overrated trash, and almost it's entire plot was ripped off from so many other movies dating back to the early 80's.
in a similar fashion to your review of your movie,
I feel really sorry for people who have clicked to watch this. Who gave this guy a camera and the elements needed to record, edit and post a video on YouTube?
haha that was funny. i agree with most of your review. it was an OK movie. if you can turn ur brain off for the whole duration, u will be entertained for the most part.
mjleshock, your problem is assumption: in world where technology exists to travel to other planets they should have all diseases cured as well. So no one will be in a wheelchair. Yes! The future is a Utopia! Seriously? Just because they have technology that does one thing, doesn't mean they have it to do another. And actually, Sully even says that they do have the technology to fix his legs but it costs money. Oh, but maybe in your criticism, healthcare plans should be perfect as well right?
@arthereld With such amazing technology, you would figure they could repair broken limbs and spinal injuries very soon after they happen. Some sort of tissue regeneration using stem cells, perhaps.
We're not talking about small advances in medicine here - they have created an entire being that can be controlled using your mind! A quick, affordable fix for paralysis should be a given - just like a shot for polio is a given today.
I really enjoyed the film, but found their explanation a stretch
Well, how relatable is the avatar program to Sully's paralysis? The avatar program looks to be a multibillion dollar project and even in the film it looks like it's just coming out of the experimental stage. Technology apparently exists to fix Sully's condition, but the movie does not let on how much money that will take nor how "easy it is" compared to the avatar program. So I just don't understand your criticism. I have my own crits, but that one I just don't understand.
as to the wheelchair comment...jake noted it was fully possible to heal a broken back/legs and walk again - but the hippie liberal bs came in and said "blah blah i cant afford that on va benefits"
I'm not sure if this was in reply to me, but if it was: You gave it a positive review, but everybody here knocking you acts like Jimmy brought a little slice of heaven to earth. Some dipshit actually compared it to Citizen Kane. No doubt its awesome visually, but explosions do not a story make.
By the way, I think youtube reviews suit your humor better than TV.
I am gonna just throw this out there ... AVATAR is this decades CITIZEN (friggin) KANE! A mans struggle to find out who he really is, all set in a strange land and in 3D. I don't see how people aren't making the correlation.
I love how J.Cam gave old Orson a cameo in the second act... LOVE IT!
Why is everyone who uses this site so angry? This movie is something that everyone has seen a dozen times, and everyone knew how it was going to turn out. But the 3D tech is the reason to go see it.
I'm going to have to disagree with Chubonut2, this movie is better than Citizen Kane, it had giant alien sex. Unless of course Rosebud was really euphemism for blue alien box, then they would be equal.
Jake Sully explains it rather WELL how he is crippled and can't afford prosthetic legs. In fact, that's his whole motivation for going along with both factions throughout the movie. You must've not been paying attention.
you ask for an explanation of why, with all the technology, they still had someone in a wheel chair. From what I remember...
The film opens with Jake explaining how he's only a lowly uneducated grunt doing lowly paid work in a down trodden economy (hence the corporate greed) and so can't afford (or isn't considered worthy of having) the spinal surgery that is well within their technology...
I believe that is correct. I'm questioning how he got into the wheelchair in the first place. You would think with such amazing technology, something would exist to fix spinal chord injuries fairly quickly after they happen, preventing Jake from ever losing the use of his legs. Maybe there wasn't enough unobtainium to produce the serum at the time of his injury.
I will concede the points that as humans we don't always have our priorities straight! Perhaps that explains it.
@mjleshock "unobtanium" wasn't the serious name...it is joke name known by design engineers, high-end machinists, and aerospace company execs as a very expensive material. "Custom 465", for example, is a mix of steel and other metals, which to manufacture and buy costs way more than regular or even relatively "good" steel. Sorry to be over serious or no-fun, but I identified that name as a metaphor only, not the real mineral name. Industry talk. And yeah I thought the script was well done.
I understand that "unobtainium" is often a humorous term applied to a material the doesn't exist, or is very rare. I didn't get the feeling from the film that they were in on the joke. It felt like they were taking it serious to me. But when I see it again, I'll take your comment into consideration.
@mjleshock Here's another criticism I don't understand: unobtainium. You say you understood what it was. That it was used jokingly. But I don't think you get it. It's used like "hahaha, unobtainium, that's hilarious", maybe the first time it was. But look it up, it's a real frikkin word that did not originate from this movie. Now as simple as you say this script is, I highly doubt the filmmakers were so dumb as to say, "Hey let's make up a word" not knowing the real word's origin.
Lol good luck getting subscribers mjleshock, you didn't review Avatar you just demonstrated how terrible you are at viewing and comprehending films, at least you filled the gaps where substance should be with terrible jokes.
Way too many people like this awful movie, I hated it. It was overrated trash, and almost it's entire plot was ripped off from so many other movies dating back to the early 80's.

This review is absolutely garbage and hysterically bias. How do you even allow yourself to make reviews with such a magnitude of bias shit in it.
Your basically just saying EVERYTHING every troll on IMDb have. Why not think for yourself.
No intention to be offensive but that is just what I feel, and turned out a bit offensive.
InSaneTK 2 years ago
How is a person bias against a movie? Is he against big budget action movies? Blue aliens? Plastic 3D glasses? Please clarify.
