Though "the usual suspects" affecting supply and demand, are contributing factors, the biggest cause of all this food crisis is Ben Bernanke and his partners-in-crime over at the Fed. They have been flooding the world with USD to prop up an unsustainable US economy, debasing the USD, and making it worth-less, meaning more are required to buy the same commodities. Oil, wheat, rice, etc. There's no real shortage

Actually it was caused by monoculture...

But I referring to the fact that during the famine Ireland produced record crops of grain, more than enough to prevent the starvation. But the grain was instead shipped to England and became whiskey.
