  • Thanks for the memories. I haven't been in that church since I was 17 years old. Went there all through my school years. When Rev. Van Ornum was there. It's a beautiful church.

  • Let me guess. A church in the Rundbogenstil idom (round wagon wheel style), built some time c. 1860-1880 with largely painted glass windows. A vent shaft is incorporated into tne tower via the ceiling medallion. I am surpried to see such this far north, but I guess the summers can get hot also in NY. It appears that the spaces between the windows were painted or plastered to look 3-D (as in the US Capitol & UU churches in Provincetown & Nantucket).

  • I am confused about your reply. The Sanctuary is a rectangle, not round. The windows are stained glass, not pained. One of them is a real Tiffany window.

    Yes, the walls are pained for the 3-D look.

    There is no vent in the center. My guess is that at one time it held a gas light because above it in the attic there are two big what look like saw-horses that look like they supported something long ago.
