Hey all, look at jonah1976 - what an idiot. Probably due to his age 33.
If you're born before 1980, there's no hope. institutionalised past the point of recovery, just like windows. (btw have seen windows 7 in action, one word, GAY!)
Windows vista was the worst move in the history of Microsoft! People go for either linux or Mac because those operating systems work and they dont work just only the dman machine feels like it!
When you post a video of Windows opening the same amount of programs (that can be idling) with absolutely no slowdown/crashing, then tell me I can get a legal and fully functional copy for free, I'll be impressed.
Why do what someone else has already done? watch?v=TtuIc5V9kcs
If you are so poor you can't afford to purchase an Operating System, you have other issues that are more important right now, like improving your education. If you are in dire straights financially you can still use free software without having to use an oddball OS. There is a massive amount of open source and free ware programs available for windows, and I don't mean command line only programs.
Most of us use Ubuntu because we consider it better than Windows, not because we "can't afford to purchase an Operating System". People who want Windows (or a newer version thereof) but can't afford it don't use Ubuntu: they pirate Windows. Most people don't even realize they're paying for Windows though; it came 'free' with the computer they bought.
I'd really like to know what makes Ubuntu an "oddball OS"; that is doesn't get virus and malware infections at the drop of a hat? :)

Non - Linux Game Makers. Linux has about 30 Million users, Windows has 90% of the market and almost 100% of the gamer market so :/ Don't blame the makers.
I wish more programs ran on Linux. I really do. All the videos look AWESOME! I sincerely wish more programmers could program for Linux. But until then, I'm gonna be stuck with Windows. DAMN YOU NON-LINUX PROGRAMMERS AND GAME MAKERS!
What are you talking about? Theres millions of programs for linux. Only the most expensive software hasn't got an equivalent in open source. (and, yes, also games <-- tons of money). More and more companies make linux software. Google, for example, Macromedia, Sun, and the drivers are pretty well supported (all the standard devices), there've even been games made for linux (even WoW can run)
Well, actually, I kinda meant free games and programs. A lot of games and programs I use are downloaded off the internet(my graphics card SUCKS and I can't play most retail games). Especially My favorite game Cortex Command.
The only interesting feature in windows is transparency and Linux does more of it in each window and with effects. - The linux desktop is ready and beautiful. Mark Shuttleworth and thousands of others have done great work.
Once startet all those apps (or processes) remain in the sleep state waiting vor user input. they do simply nothing but allocate a bit memory. Not much compared to the overall memory on modern computers. What does your demonstration show us? Well, nothing at all. Sorry, but VooD is right.
The nice thing about Windows is that it will start at least 40 applications during boot up without the need to do all that clicking shown above. Of course, most of them are viruses ...
I can make the same on Amiga, Windows XP, MacOS X, and BeOS...
It´s nothing special, you are loading 40 programs which doesn´t do anything once loaded without posterior user intervention. I bet your cpu usage was not higher than 15%.
this is a good guide, but it won't work with edgy. I had to comment out 3 lines in the source code to get it to work. Just keep compiling it, and every time it throws up an error with a line number, comment out that line. It's a hack but it works :)

WOW. You open a bunch of programs that sit idle doing nothing. My god, I'm amazed at the raw power!

Ahahahah LOL...
It's important to notice that 40 little apps under Linux don't need as much RAM as under Windows.
But I whish to see how good is the graphic of this OS when you'll open all those appz
