It's probably not intentionnal, but It's funny the way Art Farmer takes a cheerful tune and make it sound very "compassé" -don't know how to translate it- ; but still interesting. That may be some definition of "cool jazz" : concentrated bop. Piano isn't loud enough though.

Very swinging and imaginative solo by Art Farmer. That he was able to express so many surprises within a conventional vocabulary and play with great energy without breaking a sweat is a testimony to his understated mastery
WogBoyferrari, I am an oldtimer of 62, but IMO you are free to prefer your own version compared to Farmer. Be careful, though, I heard Farmer in person sounding off at breackneck speed like Fats Navarro. (Can you do that?) Best to you.
hold up boyferrari , unless you played with high schoolers in the Jazz band of America or an amazing All-State ensemble, you have an invalid opinion. Art Farmer is a renowned professional, who doesn't need your shit.
hehe i did this for my hsc 2 days ago. personalyl i liked my version much better. it was true be-bop the drums and rhythm were much more prominent. it had alot of life an energy to it. i dont think this is really punchy enuf tbh but tahts just my opinion

I like the interlude before the outhead. Does that come from one of Dizzy's famous takes? maybe Salt peanuts?
