  • I have the PS2's on my C6 in one size wider 255/40ZR18 Fr and 295/35ZR19 Rr and I couldn't be happier with these tires... Other than the price of course ;)

I'd love to see what my modded C6 would run in the mile. I ran 11.5 @ 126 and change in the 1/4 recently. Next I want to try the mile to see what she can do :)

  • IM GONA LOVE CORVETTES TILL THE DAY I DIE

  • KICK ASS BABY!!!

    this car is so awesome!!!

  • Bring on the world! Chevy Corvette FTW! This car rapes the veyron. The hennessey viper killed the 16-4 VW and this little corvette destroyed it!

  • That's the coolest thing to happen to northern Michigan in the last 17 years.

  • imagine this stripped down with racing tires and race gas that would be amazing

  • With all due respect.....WOW !!! Impressive!

  • I'm waiting for wings to come out the side so it can take off!

  • HEY DUMBASSS IT HIT 260mph not 226 retard you dont deserve to heave these video

  • @shadowforce9

to think theres a world full of assholes like you! there not all assholes but the ones like you piss me off. Shut the fuck up and watch the fucking video, haven't you heard if you don't have and thing nice too say? Now shut the fuck up and enjoy!!

  • well you make laugh and i piety you

  • @shadowforce9 it's 226mph, this vid is straight from their website you fuckin fag

  • @shadowforce9 no, it hit 226mph for the LPE Z06. The PP FGT is the fastest right now at 253mph.

  • @obZidianZ06 Ray's Heffner Performance FGT ran 266mph, 271 in practice so they say but not official.

  • @TEFLONTHADON The same car that ran down here in the miami mile? That was questionable.

  • @obZidianZ06 Yea, Apparently the 266 is true, but the 271 they claim hasn't been backed up by anything but their word. Actually, I don't think they've honestly backed up either runs. But 266 is more believable than 271 with the same tune.

  • who cares what the claim said it "could" run and just focus on its mile crushing speed on street tires and listen to all the others go on and on about the viper thats all stripped out and has racing tires say that it is better than the vette which i say screw em put slicks on this beast and lighten it up and change the gearing so the guy uses 6th gear this time and say bye-bye to the viper

  • Most mile run records are on street tires minus SW's supra which he ran on VRAlexanders race tires. Hennessey was also running street tires when they ran 222, same with their GT that ran 226. All still full weight. As far as Vipers, due to the fact the rule the power game they would indeed rule the mile if someone felt up to it. Lol Heffners Big Red ran a 1/4 mile, stopped then ran 212 in the last 3/4.

  • this video makes me happy in my pants.

  • repost.....

  • Thanks again, Tim, for posting these great videos.

    "1300 hp [...] 300 MPH top speed."

    That doesn't sound right.

Given that 2x speed requires 8x horsepower (and 1.5x speed requires 3.375x horsepower):

A car requiring 500 hp to reach 200 mph should require 1687.5 hp to reach 300 mph.

A car requiring 600 hp to reach 200 mph should require 2025 hp to reach 300 mph.

  • @hitssquad Simple answer - it doesn't take 500hp to go 200mph. A Z06 will ideally hit 200mph, and that's not at its power peak due to gearing. 650 hp (at the crank assuming it was geared perfectly) in a 2000 Vette ran 226mph for Motor Trend. That'd mean it'd take 1520 hp at the crank for 300mph - which probably is in the neighborhood of 1300hp at rear wheels. They ran 298mph at Bonneville with 1400hp in a Firebird.

  • I said "a car", not "any car requires". A Firebird is narrower than a Corvette, which is the reason they used a Firebird.

The Feb 96 Motor Trend article says:

"Lingenfelter had built Bonneville cars before-his highly modified turbo-charged Pontiac Firebird set a record at 293.608 mph in 1989-so he had Salt Flats experience in addition to a formidable supply of horsepower."

The photos in that article show a Firebird with smooth sides and none of the drag-inducing brake-ducting found on a Z06.

  • A Corvette (and even more-so a Z06), with the same horsepower, cannot go as fast as a Firebird.

The Firebird that ran 293.608 mph at Bonneville should require almost 1500 horsepower to hit 300 mph, if the cubed-power-to-speed formula is correct.

  • About the 226 mph run by Motor Trend, the car used was a 1999 Corvette, which is a narrower and more-streamlined car than a modern Z06. It also ran with a tailwind:

    motortrend. com/roadtests/chevrolet/112_ 0003_ 2000_ chevy_ corvette_ lingenfelter/lingenfelter. html

"Air temperature was just above freezing and there was a useful tailwind."

The low air-temperature should have boosted the horsepower, so the car was probably running with well-north of the 650 horsepower claim.

  • If we figure it used 682.5 horsepower (5% improvement, due to the cold air) to travel at an airspeed of 220 mph, that translates to 513 horsepower to travel at an airspeed of 200 mph.

More about the streamlining: when retracted, the headlights on a 1999 Corvette are more streamlined than the headlights on modern (C6) Corvettes. The tires were also far narrower than those on a modern Z06:

    vs.

    P275/35ZR18 P325/30ZR19
