  • Am I'm the only one who thinks it's strange that in CART's early days, they named races after Open-Wheel drivers who died in race crashes? I mean, It''s like F1 doing the same thing, e.g. The Aryton Senna San Marino Grand Prix, or The Gillies Villinauve Belgian Grand Prix.

  • @TheAntihero6212 It's a matter of paying homage to significant racers who either are from the local area, had great success at the track, or perished at the track. I think it should be more widespread, so new fans can have some history to chew on.

    But yes, it would be strange sounding in Formula One, and perhaps inappropriate. But the SPEED guys always refresh our memories at each track.
