id just like to say.... afghanistan isnt all desert... theres actually a lot of green in areas such as kunar where snipers are most effective.... so being a "scout in the bush watching the enemy" is still very doable.... however... leaving the wire with no body armor on isn't something that's looked kindly upon... so ghilli suits are a no no.... snipers usually just move with a platoon now and provide overwatch for their movements.... same as machine gunners...
