A flat tax simplifies the tax codes so all the write offs that help the ultra wealthy go away. So their taxable income is actually higher. A flat tax simplifies the tax codes so all the write offs that help the ultra wealthy go away. So their taxable income is actually higher. @moirajean8 It's not an assumption, its a fact. The current tax rate for those making over 250,000 is about 33%. Under flat tax they would be taxed at 10%. The billionaires are able to create vast fortunes and our gov goes bankrupt and powerless. Our government is bought and paid for.
For 30 years the US electorate has been flip flopping every 4 or 8 years between republicans and democrats but the net effect is the same, the destruction of the middle class.
