for a while i couldn't imagine how people want to play and hear this kind of musik, because i hear metal whole the time. but a few months ago i started playing classical guitar (against my will ;)) and now i know it: you can feel something like a spirit come throught your whole body when you're playing. it's awesome!
Well, I don't agree, I think the great thing about Mr. Sor is you are NEVER BORED with it, because every note counts... What you have mentioned, is the bad thing about him. And the worst thing about playing music is that the more you know about it the less satisfied you are with your performance – at least this is true for me. I enjoyed YOUR performance but I know the feeling of not being satisfied with my own performance. My mother tells me that this helps you to improve. Greetings,
A bit to slow, should be around 108 for a quarter note and I have 2 more bars on my page, first a whole note flagiolets gbe on the 12th position and than a flagiolet on the low e in the 12th position, but maybe not original.
Very good tone and excellent playing. However it confirms my feelings since I started playing classical guitar. Fernando Sor is boring even with the best players and guitars
Working through 'Complete Sor Studies' page by page using YouTube search engine and listening piece by piece, finding this hidden jewel, listened to your work several hundred times this and last week, and spent last evening and the evening before working through it with my guitar, its a masterpiece and enjoyed using your work as a guide!
absolutely love this piece, maybe because to me it has the same haunting beauty of Beethoven's moonlight sonata. Once I found your playing of this piece a couple of weeks ago, I found the sheet music and have been practicing it, albeit about 1/2 the speed of yours but it will improve. Love e minor pieces , probably why I had to learn Tarrega's Etude in Em. Listen to Eric Henderson's interpretation of moonlight sonata on the guitar and you will fall in love with it. Great work
This a beautiful piece! I've Googled my fingers sore to find the tab or Midi for this, and it seems the internet jut dances all around this beautiful piece. I can't find it anywhere. I'm trying to learn it by ear from the video, but that's a daunting task!
I know what you mean about Sor pieces and never being satisfied with them. I have been playing one for 25 years and still don't feel I really "have it". Your performance was lovely. I have never heard this piece. I have to find the sheet for it now!
Hello very good . Vabejas It would be daft to say this is the best i have heard you on guitar ,Emotionally at least- i am right .I hope to capture that myself .i suppose you have got to be in the right mood. ps i will have to find this hounting music.thanks Mantagna
My thought is that everyone should have an aquarium in their life, a woman in the corner knitting and just about any Fernando Sor selection playing. Excellent post.
No habla español, me excusa. ¡Verano!
This is remarkably beautiful, authoritative playing. If you didn't state in your profile that you'd just picked up the guitar, I'd guess you'd been playing for a long time.
Hi Vabejas. This is the first video of yours that I saw on YT.The study is an excellent one and not played often.Amazing skill in playing and nice interpretation.I picture the tides ebbing and flowing in your play.Well done.Congrats.
Really enjoyed listening to your playing of this piece and the precision of your timing. I confess I've never heard this particular study played before despite all the CD's I have incorporating Fernando Sor. Well done.
Your careful tender practice make the study and real work. You got the music sensitivity and any song you play will be music. BTW as you seem French people I wish to hear Kleyjans's work. Most of his work requires difficult left-hand and I heard full of French sensibilty, I guess.
I really liked your treatment of this piece. Most people play it way too fast. You gave it a real moody feel to go along with that minor key. My only critique is I would like to hear you play it with less nail on the bass line. it came off as brittle and brassy a few times. It became distracting. Aside from that, I just loved this. Thanks for posting!
I really liked this one! You are right: Sor is great. In my opinion the best from that period! And this study is beautiful too. And you play it with a lot of musicallity! 5 stars and a hug!
Hi Per, thanks for your kind(gren) reaction! It means so much to me if you like my playing, since I consider you as a world class guitar performer. I hope your CD is doing well, I'm sure it will, Ive ordered a copy!
One thing I notice in this video is your guitar seems to be more vertical and higher on your body.... compared to your Leo Brouwer Estudio videos. Something new?
Very true Julie, I noticed that as well! It's unintentional though. I've got one of these gitano supports instead of a foot rest. Maybe I've fixed it on a different spot for this Sor!:) I prefer the angle in the Brouwer though!
salut jasper!
Thank you, always so friendly! Are you enjoying the early Californian spring? I watched some golf at Pebble Beach, Carmel yesterday, stunning scenery, great weather!
Looking forward to your next video, whatever it may be! Surprise us!
Thank you Maria, it's funny, when I practice without mic I get more colours and I tend to vary my right hand position more. It's still beginners tension, concentrating too much on not making a mistake! I appreciate you comment a lot! I'll try to apply it on your Ragtime soon!
Thanks Jolina!
Thanks for your detailed comment, Katrin, much appreciated! I know exactly what you mean with the colors. I hear them exactly in my head still cannot project them always as I would like to. It will come with time and mucho practice! I'm glad you liked it anyway. You're a great player!
Wow! that was really good, perfect in my opinion! and the sound is also very good. you must've put a lot of work in this piece i can see, nice playing and I loved the dynamics
