My own belief is that the different racial groups within humanity came into being at a VERY early stage of human history and that they were the consequence of divine decree. True, this is not a strictly 'scientific' perspective but the inability of science to cope with the historical and cultural realities of racial difference only reveals the intense limitations of science.

Socrates856 primary reasoning for his faith is an objection to Principal Component Analysis as a way of clustering racial groups, it's a sort of advanced form of race denial, roughly analagous to the sorts of very nice sounding chaff ID proponents throw up (though ID proponents are generally more academically honest than race deniers). I can go into more detail about mathematically illiterate PCA denial if you'd like, it follows a fairly linear pattern.

And what is the final step after having gotten the eigen-decomposition to actually get what one would call principal components. What makes them "principal"?

Eigenvectors are calculated using eigenvalues, And the final stage is the conversion into standard scores followed by the projection of that data, as for what makes it principal, it's because they're the principal components that define differences between racial groups (after eliminating the variables that contribute nothing to the data).

The whole point is that those ranges do exist, but can only be properly understood with a non-redundant dataset. But please, whine more :)

"Principal" has nothing to do with projection. Components are indeed eigenvector/value pairs. But what makes them principal is the eigenvalue. So what do we do with eigenvalues to complete the PCA? You'll have to google more to figure out why that is true.

She not only contradicted herself by arguing in support of human diversity, while in her next breath stating that she would not care if only a single race were to succeed the others, but she also acknowledged the existence of races when it supported her argument, while arguing that race is a social construction.
