In case of emergencies like this, a parachute would come in handy. It may take a few minutes for help to come, even longer if they choose to climb down themselves, but if they had parachutes, they can easily jump down and make sure she's safe while help comes.

But if they already had a boat on site, then a parachute is a bit useless.
