Do you see who some of the retards are that respond to your videos? You may be a responsible animal keeper but for every one of you there are thousands of non responsible keepers out there. You have even expressed amazement yourself at the people that keep these snakes. Stop making political statements and start worrying about the cretons that obtain these deadly "PETS"
@midcentry61 dude go fuck yourself. its not your job to keep other people safe. If someone wants to buy a dangerous animal they should have the responsibility to take care of it. The government doesn't need to protect people from themselves
I'ts the same in Belgium, since 1 oct 2009, the gouverment has a list made by "experts" off all the animals you may keep. If they wanne forbid venomous snakes i can understand that a little but then they must forbid for keeping bees to. Even boa constrictors are forbidden but burmese pythons aren't, where is the logic???

Right On Al I agree with your comment about the illegal aliens and they can survive and breed and set up colonies in any state in the US unlike some reptiles that can survive only in The Everglades.

Republican, Democrat, it doesn't matter who gets elected. We elect from whatever choices are presented to us They are all on the same team. People usually vote their morals and interests instead of actually paying attention to whether they can run a country or not. At least that's the case here in the U.S. This proposition is crap.
I'm only sorry that I live in Canada; so challenging this Bill is not within the scope of my voting power.
Before you even revealed the parties behind this insidious piece of legislation; I knew the animal rights wackos had a stake in it.
Have any limits or exemptions to this Bill been verified? I fear it has the potential to threaten the rights of zoos as well as collectors; and that is why it must be stopped!
the government is hell, just saying. and this bill is fuckin rediculous. its going to piss so many people off, they think its helping but i bet people do some pretty bad things if they pass this. but we wont get into that.
Any status updates? Definitely want to get this think killed before it gets out of committee. The language of the resolution is quite vague. I have a dog that is part Spaniel, part Poodle. So will I have to send part of her back to Spain (origin of Spaniels), and part of her back to France (origin of Poodles)?
Hope you dont mind me posting this but here is a simpleway to send a letter.The video gives u step by step instructions an i dont take 3 min. of ur time,Even has a list for everyones representive phone#.PLZ DO SO!
It would be nice if we could export Nancy Pelosi. This proposal is just absurd. They just spent 1.3 trillion to "create jobs" but yet they are trying to cut off a 3 billion dollar industry and kill jobs to please their special interest whacko groups. You have my support Al, I just emailed my South Jersey congressman and told him to vote against it.
zerovich nothing wrong with having a dog or cat, whats wrong with having a reptile venomous animals can be kept with no danger to the public, of course mistakes happen and keepers get bit, but dogs also get lose and attack people. if they could pass that bill then whats next, im sure guns will be next and them maybe they could tell us what other things we are allowed to do.
Done.....contacted my Rep. Tim Ryan here in Ohio. By all accounts he's a pretty reasonable guy. We've got about four pet shops here where I live, so I will email them as well.
keeping reptiles, especially venomous ones is very danger, for you and the others. it also encourages the illegal traffic with reptiles and the destruction of the wildlife in the countries which "export" these animals. democrats are doing the right thing. if u're some redneck, no life freak that keeps a venomous reptile and uploads videos on youtube with "feeding live rabbits/mice/etc" then you should be locked up and forced to see a psychiatrist as you present a real danger to the society.
that was very mature of you, also very american, I bet you're enjoying your "liberty fries" too. now next time you vote republicans just because your brain is no bigger than a reptile's one take your godzilla pets with you, I'm sure you'll have a nice comeback from your fellow americans. and yeh, don't forget to GET A LIFE, douche bag
Just remember, you would be speaking GERMAN if the Americans did come over and save your countries ass, not once but twice. I'm not a Republican either just an independant thinker who still knows how to tell assholes from manholes.
Come on - keeping venomous snakes is not much of a danger to society. Do I smell fear of snakes?
The biggest threat to society is greed, my man!
There are very few deaths with private kept snakes and most of the times the keeper gets it... I guess that some 99% of the deaths occur with wild snakes. In some parts people do their work "in the wild" and many times help is far away.
In other parts people get killed by snakes boozed up trying to be more men than they really are...
Look at the bigger picture my friend. This is about the rights to keep all animals including cats & dogs. The animals rights groups will not stop till no animal is being "kept" by humans.
This bill isn't isolated to venomous reptiles... Fish, hamsters, non-venomous snakes, lizards and amphibians... Your view wouldn't be so narrow if it were your freedoms being revoked.
Al is right - the only langiage these people understand is the language of statistics - BOMB the BASTARDS with petitions, letters, protests. phone calls, faxes etc..
Too true! I'm in the UK, and worked in the aquarium trade for years; every so often we'd get people trying to bring-in similar laws with that. Best wishes in defeating this bill, and thanks for all the great videos
See, I think as long as people treat their reptiles with respect, keep them well fed, etc, what's the problem, and If this bill was passed, would you lose your reptiles? :'(
In my humble opinion, this bill is the result of a few "bad apples", individuals who abuse their rights and abuse the animals they keep. Sadly, they stick out like sore thumbs and completely damage the reputation of the vast majority of people who are responsible are caring exotic pet owners. The animal rights groups are driven by emotion. They see plenty of videos of hideous treatment of animals and extrapolate that behavior to all exotic pet owners. I will be contacting my state rep.
I don't much care for snakes etc. but the government will divide and conquer all of us bit by bit untill we are all totally enslaved! Lets wake up to what is happening to our country and freedoms and not ignore the rights of others being eroded!
Unfortunately, this is what happens when a few bad apples abuse their rights to keep exotic pets. It ends up endangering the entire hobby. The animal rights groups are driven by emotion. They see the videos of inhumane and irresponsible behavior by a few idiots, and it gets generalized to all exotic pet owners. All it takes is a few incidents to start the tide. I will be contacting my rep.
This bill needs to die in committee before it gets any momentum.
It started way back but has become noticable even to idiots like me when smokers became the targets of choice. "In Germany, they came first for the Communists, And I didnt speak up because I wasnt a Communist;
And then they came for the trade unionists, And I didnt speak up because I wasnt a trade unionist;
And then they came for the Jews, And I didnt speak up because I wasnt a Jew;
And then . . . they came for me . . . And by that time there was no one left to speak up."
if this passes despite the exotic pet community clearly screaming out for our right then it shows that we will never have a say in this world with these people who think they can just take this away from people, fare enough we have some who shouldn't have exotic pets at all but i don't think that's really why this has come into place which would bring me to agree with creekstomper4 it's just wrong that they can even try pull this off not fare at all..
It's very dangerous when uneducated people get a chance to affect laws in this way, especially when they hide behind "the enviromental issue", something that we are not allowed to question in any way today. I really, really hope that this turns out well!
I've emailed, faxed, & snail mailed all the reps sitting on the committe plus the reps that represent my state. I did this over a week ago. PLEASE PEOPLE GET OFF YOUR BUTTS AND TAKE A STAND!
people who reallys undertand wat thei do ( like veterinarys and biologists) and love that...not can do more...cause the goverment takes off our freedon every day more...so think about my frustacion, im brazilain, here we hava the moust wonderful reptiles of world, we have the IDEAL weather for keeping ad breeding, we had space, we hava money, grat professionals vets so...thats is a great future marketing for brazil, export animals, good care animais, reaearch the propagation in captivy
the result of that: trafic of animals !!! bad conditions, right prices, deases, non researchs, no information or cientific works with reptiles in captive is made in brazil and that kind of stuff and that......show that exemple for the people in the US , the brazialian bad exemple and how that prejudicates us....lovers of reotiles living in the ´´criminalit´´,
hey al, thats really sad, here in brazil thats happened in 1995 and until now the breeding, maintence, any thing with native especies and non native species its illegal, we can´t keep corn snakes, boas constrictors, leopards geckos or tegus....and najas, and other imported venomous are prision cases (terrorism).....
The fact that congress is even devoting time to special interest crap like HR 669 while our country is in the greatest economic crisis of my lifetime is a complete failure.
thank you for the heads up, Al....this goes WAY beyond just reptiles.....anyone who has animals such as llamas, alpacas, chukar partridge, parrots, ect. This goes WAY beyond the 3 billion you mentioned. I will try and post this on some of the other sites that I visit as well. I'm tired of this 'nanny goverment'...Pelosi is worth 18 million, yet I'm told that I need to give 'my fair share"? Disgusting!
i see no logic in this, even if they did pass the bill.. wtf happens to all the animals already in private collections?
and its not as if the people they are targeting with this (the somewhat "dodgy" characters in the hobby) are going to stop keeping/importing animals anyway... there just ruining it for the good names.
you know that inorder for their bill to go into action is that mans bets frien will ahve 2 go because dogs arnt native to the usa so basically well have no pets really so they basically making kld lonley people with cats lonley taking away there best friends
I am not a reptile-keeper myself but I find them absolutely fascinating animals. What strikes me the most about this bill is all the suffering that will befall all the non-native animals in general, due to these fanatics. I can't see this bill passing, but if people don't act to tell all clueless politicians these facts it just might. Very good you brought this up, I will keep my fingers crossed and hoping they don't vote yes to this insanity.
Us Brits are watching what happens over the water with certain trepidation... As you guys may or may not know, whatever the American Government does, our lapdog government follows and like you guys we have people who want to see the end of the reptile industry.
Its sad, as the great work serious hobbiests and Herpetologists have done will be undone.
It's not just going to affect the herp industry either! there are a whole range of
Ok now I'm shocked, this can't happen. I've contacted all my aquantances in the USA to vote against this, Al this might seem like a stupid question but I live in the UK is there anything I can do myself to help baring in mind I do work for the british government?
Come on guys this is it everyone needs to do everything they can because it goes as far as owning one lizard.
Hey ViperKeep: I think this is is bullshit, the govt. will drive this down into the underground. just like boot legging so i will write to my AZ congressmen and tell him to vote no. I bet the AZ Herptalogical Society will be a big backer of voting no. thanks for this vid
That is F***ING BULLSH*T the government should just be reinvented its so corrupt, and our freedom is being taken away, etc...., Even though I'm a CANADIAN, our government is doing similar things but not that extreme.
this all came into play when the woman in my state got attacked by a chimpanzee, theres a HUGE difference between a 200 + lb humanoid creature and ball python.
Wow this is scary stuff. I wish I could find the words to express my disdain for PETA and all the other fundamentalist lunatics that are responsible for this bill. However I have to say, reptile owners need to ban together and propose our own laws to the government to regulate our own hobby. Otherwise PETA is going to be able to do whatever they want. We need to police ourselves and show that we are pro-active.
Do they really think passing this legislation is going to stop anything? No.

People usually vote their morals and interests instead of actually paying attention to whether they can run a country or not. At least that's the case here in the U.S. This proposition is crap.

Hi Al; thanks for this crucial notification.
Good luck, chum.

the government is hell, just saying. and this bill is fuckin rediculous. its going to piss so many people off, they think its helping but i bet people do some pretty bad things if they pass this. but we wont get into that.

Al,
Any status updates? Definitely want to get this think killed before it gets out of committee. The language of the resolution is quite vague. I have a dog that is part Spaniel, part Poodle. So will I have to send part of her back to Spain (origin of Spaniels), and part of her back to France (origin of Poodles)?

I hope that people will wake up and realize that this bill will take away almost all of the pets in this country, except for cats and dogs.
Please people, take the time to write to your elected officials and ask them to vote against this legislation.

It would be nice if we could export Nancy Pelosi. This proposal is just absurd. They just spent 1.3 trillion to "create jobs" but yet they are trying to cut off a 3 billion dollar industry and kill jobs to please their special interest whacko groups. You have my support Al, I just emailed my South Jersey congressman and told him to vote against it.

zerovich nothing wrong with having a dog or cat, whats wrong with having a reptile venomous animals can be kept with no danger to the public, of course mistakes happen and keepers get bit, but dogs also get lose and attack people. if they could pass that bill then whats next, im sure guns will be next and them maybe they could tell us what other things we are allowed to do.

dakotaaiken1 2 years ago
keeping reptiles, especially venomous ones is very danger, for you and the others. it also encourages the illegal traffic with reptiles and the destruction of the wildlife in the countries which "export" these animals. democrats are doing the right thing. if u're some redneck, no life freak that keeps a venomous reptile and uploads videos on youtube with "feeding live rabbits/mice/etc" then you should be locked up and forced to see a psychiatrist as you present a real danger to the society.
zer0vich 2 years ago
That's what I'd expect from a Frenchman, bend over and spread 'm buddy...Do you like is DRY or some Vaseline?
Venomous snakes are generally killed on site in most countries, Man is destroying their habitat, so they are better where they are safe.

that was very mature of you, also very american, I bet you're enjoying your "liberty fries" too. now next time you vote republicans just because your brain is no bigger than a reptile's one take your godzilla pets with you, I'm sure you'll have a nice comeback from your fellow americans. and yeh, don't forget to GET A LIFE, douche bag

Tulips from amsterdam Al, I know you treat your animals well !
alientsf 2 years ago
Come on - keeping venomous snakes is not much of a danger to society. Do I smell fear of snakes?
The biggest threat to society is greed, my man!
There are very few deaths with private kept snakes and most of the times the keeper gets it... I guess that some 99% of the deaths occur with wild snakes. In some parts people do their work "in the wild" and many times help is far away.
In other parts people get killed by snakes boozed up trying to be more men than they really are...
mekstro 2 years ago 2
what's wrong with keeping dogs and cats?
zer0vich 2 years ago
Look at the bigger picture my friend. This is about the rights to keep all animals including cats & dogs. The animals rights groups will not stop till no animal is being "kept" by humans.
viperkeeper 2 years ago
This bill isn't isolated to venomous reptiles... Fish, hamsters, non-venomous snakes, lizards and amphibians... Your view wouldn't be so narrow if it were your freedoms being revoked.

dkrn09 2 years ago
In my humble opinion, this bill is the result of a few "bad apples", individuals who abuse their rights and abuse the animals they keep. Sadly, they stick out like sore thumbs and completely damage the reputation of the vast majority of people who are responsible are caring exotic pet owners. The animal rights groups are driven by emotion. They see plenty of videos of hideous treatment of animals and extrapolate that behavior to all exotic pet owners. I will be contacting my state rep.
prodgodq 2 years ago
I don't much care for snakes etc. but the government will divide and conquer all of us bit by bit untill we are all totally enslaved! Lets wake up to what is happening to our country and freedoms and not ignore the rights of others being eroded!
jlckm 2 years ago 6
Good for you! You see clearly what's happening.
viperkeeper 2 years ago
Al:
Unfortunately, this is what happens when a few bad apples abuse their rights to keep exotic pets. It ends up endangering the entire hobby. The animal rights groups are driven by emotion. They see the videos of inhumane and irresponsible behavior by a few idiots, and it gets generalized to all exotic pet owners. All it takes is a few incidents to start the tide. I will be contacting my rep.
This bill needs to die in committee before it gets any momentum.
prodgodq 2 years ago
It started way back but has become noticable even to idiots like me when smokers became the targets of choice. "In Germany, they came first for the Communists, And I didnt speak up because I wasnt a Communist;
And then they came for the trade unionists, And I didnt speak up because I wasnt a trade unionist;
And then they came for the Jews, And I didnt speak up because I wasnt a Jew;
And then . . . they came for me . .
