Really terrific run. I got my BBE shortly after the game came out, but my quickest time was in the 3:XX time frame. Haven't played the game for a while, but I started again, and came here to find better tactics in making my run quicker. Quick question, what exactly is it that shortens the Frog sequence?

In my playthroughs, the shootout with the Frogs are longer.

They come in three waves, where the second one involves them sniping from above.

What did you do to shorten it?

It temporarily disrupts the Gekkos' scanning system.

i just finished my speed run and i got a time of 2:52 mins im really disapointed mosianc when u first attempted ur speed run what time to u get and how can i improve my time in the 1 hours to 2 hours max

You must continue to practice. Your times will become better then.

avoid lighting ppl up with guns use diversion and play as if it u had no octocamo like in mgs1 and use stun grenades for me it was the most useful

how did you not get spotted by the Gecko?

Because it was just initiating its search & scan patrol after landing. The scanning beam was directed to the side of & beyond Snake. Allowing me to run past. The time frame is short though.

why does the suspended animation prevent the FROGs from respawning(2nd wave)?

is it a glitch? o_O

I'm not entirely sure why it works, I just know how. It could be a glitch.

They always do on TBE if you attempt to CQC from the front. Hit them first or CQC from another direction.

i think i might be getting something wrong while running and throwing coz u look quicker, or im messing up the quick wepon change system coz im following ur line exactly and keep getting busted by the frog just after the chaff explodes,

You've got to get behind that cover asap or she will catch you. For the following 2, you need to maintain a line that doesn't cause you to run into them.

well after about 35/40 attempts im going to have to revert 2 my try'd and tested method, i cant throw the grenades without him slowing down atleast not at the expence of accuracy

how did you figure out the way to prevent the third wave of haven troopers coming?

The emotion grenades (found in Clear Game) cause Haven Troopers to cough & faint shorty after. I just needed something that would cause them to cough & faint in a New Game. Naturally the Smokes were obvious. The Mk.2 pistol though is the key. :)

yes but how did it occur to you to cheat the way the frogs come out. did you always intend to block them second/third waves and tried to find a way to do it?

It's been known for a long time now that it works in a Clear Game. I've no idea who originally discovered it. No one has shown or mentioned that is possible in a New Game though, until now. :)

I wanted to be in on the MGS4 speedrunning when it was released, but unfortunately I only just managed to get a PS3 recently. After beating the game I ran over to SDA and caught up on the process from early to now. Excellent stuff, man.

Can't wait to see the finish of this one. It's such a classy run. Never a dull moment, Resistance run aside. =P

why did you use smokes on the last frog member ? didnt that delay the knock out ? (yes i did read the description, but i dont get it anyway xD)

The Smoke Grenades allow you to keep the Haven Trooper upright even though unconscious. She is then stuck in the "coughing & waving" animation until required.

It did delay the knockout & with good reason. It prevents the arrival of the 2nd & 3rd waves of Haven Troopers, saving major time. :)

I'm not entirely sure as that particular method isn't practical in my run. So I haven't tested it. If the time is based on the YouTube timer then there is a slight difference of a few seconds.
