  • Goddddd need more footage of judd. Amazing.

  • Does anyone know what gear he uses? I LOVE the sound of his snare and toms. And I'd love to know which 2 cymbals he's stacking there to make that choked up trashy sound!

  • @rohaninabout just find the right combination for the sound you want, really. I saw them live and he uses a huge ride, a rather large crash and a small crash all stacked.

  • @rohaninabout yeah man this guy is ridiculous. can't wait to see them tonight. the trash i tried to make was using a cracked A-custom 18" crash, and then a 16" avedis cracked stack. with a sabian MaX-Stack splash on top.

gives a massive range across the bored with regards to dynamics. you can also get that tone and sound out of the cymbal like Judd's trash. Filthy!!!

  • @yourmumhasballs You are a lucky man. How was the gig? Also I'm a bit new when it comes to gear. Any chance you could tell me how the stacking works? Do you need a piece of hardware work it? Or is it simply placing one cymbal ontop of another cymbal on the same stand? Thanks in advance!

  • @rohaninabout stacking works better when the cymbals fit snugly over eachother, which all has to do with the bell and bow of the cymbals. generally heavy cymbals work best. If you're using all crashes you should have a problem stacking at least three on a normal stand. any more and you'll need an x hat stand :)

  • EPIC lighting

  • steve doesnt get HALF of the respect and attention he deserves...ppl are so ignorant they think that just cuz a drummer doesnt just go really fuckin fast around the kit then that means hes not good....bullshit! steve is one of the best drummers ive ever heard and is easily my biggest influence as a drummer. KARNIVOOL KICKS ASS

  • I think I'm good at drums, then I see Steve Judd and Mark Heron play and I feel lame. Those two are huge influences on me.

  • I agree whit all of you S.J. is an awesome drummer... Long Live Karnivool!

  • I saw them at The Machine Shop in Flint, MI on Tuesday and got to watch Steve play from above and behind the stage... best experience at a concert ever

  • seeing this as an ending to their melbourne gig in july has made my life worthwhile.

  • @datswotimtknbout oh god how good was it! loved every second of their show. karnivool are easily... by a long shot the best live band in aus! (second cog, mammal close third!)

  • wish i was steve..... GUN!

  • anyone know what cymbals he uses in that stack?

  • @bellohighrep I spoke to the drum tech from the recording session of sound awake about it. I remember him saying he used a cracked crash of doom. Not sure about the other cymbal though.

  • @bellohighrep i think one or 2 of them are actually cymbals that hes broken...and clearly made good use for them

  • At the end of one of Karnivool's shows in Sydney, Steve Judd threw his sticks into the crowd, and one of them literally BRUSHED past my left hand. And my friend caught it. So cut.

  • pure awesome

  • whatta groove!

  • he is fuckin amazing

  • fucking awesome! so happy to have seen them twice already

  • beastin'

  • steve judd is a godddd

  • Seriously, steve is a relatively undiscovered genius behind a kit. I hope he gets the widespread respect and admiration he deserves one day.

  • @tooldrummer took the words outta my mouth. He is a genuis!

  • @tooldrummer
