@Tactual A good reference for a Family Guy episode would be where Peter sees Mario jump up from his sink, and Mario tells him that his pipes are clogged, so Peter unclogs them using a plunger, then Mario says, "Thank a you for the help!!" and gives him a fire flower. Peter touches it and he gets fire powers for a few minutes. Then he burns the whole town, and that's where the rest of the episode should take off to a different story of him paying for the damage or something.

I used to dismiss American Dad as just a Family Guy clone, but when the quality of Family Guy began to slip badly I started to watch it. The fact that it doesn't rely heavily on the tired and often forced flashback gags was quite refreshing. The plots are straightforward and generally well written. The characters are better developed. And I think it's just a tad more clever in its humor. At least when compared to the last few seasons of Family Guy, it definitely is the better show.
