Or treasure island plight: where to safe-keep save in it's investment abroad. His sentiment seems altruistic.

I almost got a job as an art teacher in the high school, but had to move on, selling my poetry on the streets of Honolulu Hi to get to the Main Land to sell an underground newspaper I wrote on economics (50 thousand miles in one summer) to get back to Paris.

@KarenEng it IS a mystery, Karen!.......a lovely story behind the love....there is speculation that Fanny tried to discourage Roberts affection, by a cable she sent him.from the US..no one knows, his response was to take a journey to be where she was.....I liked reading that altho his parents were against his interest in this married, later divorced woman with children......Fanny grew to be a beloved daughter in law...hearts should always be open to change..:-)love to you..

I've been out to the island of Erraid in Scotland where I guess his family quarried stones for building lighthouses. Very cool place, and it shows up in his novel Kidnapped. Perhaps because I used to believe I should have been born
