Errhhh... My 12 months old M15X first had problems with it's graphics card when it was 6 months old, then i got it back fixed, now, two months later, the HDD has a S.M.A.R.T. Error for no reason whatsoever. Plus, it looks like they threw it around during repair, the screen's got dead pixels and dents in the plexi window. Alienware? Nah. Never again.

It was not even close to being as powerful as they said it would be.

they told me it would play half life 2 series at full power/ rez.

THEY LIED + after 10 months and light usage the damn thing broke (mo board & processor) what a piece of garbage, they refused to respect the warranty so I disassembled it and parted it out on ebay. while dismantling it I noticed the flawed design. guaranteed to break no matter what.

@iownthenite Well I was about to go with an Asus, one had an issue with the flexing, hot when gaming (too hot really), I chose an MSI GT640 instead, GTS 250m (mid range, but it will handle most games) i7 720qm and 640gb hard drive.

you know what you could do go to dell.com and in the search bar type Alienware laptop click the one you want and there should a link next to the picture. it says "Product Details" click it and when the alien ware page loads up scroll down just a bit then click the "Customize" link and go through the process and what ever you come up with the computer should be that much.

@notebookjournal Yes you can. Look up the specs on the M17x. CrossfireX (Dual) Radeeon mobile HD 5870. with a i7 920XM 2.0Ghz Pentium processor. However having Dual graphics is optional, by default nowadays it's a single 5870 but you can. Honestly the M17x is better with ventilation too, it sucks from the bottom and pushes the air out the back.

@themassau $1400USD at base with 260m/5850 mobility, and theres nothing wrong with playing any games on it. A desktop and a laptop will do the same job in gaming if its specs support the game, a 260m and a better 5850 moility will support any game even bfbc2, just not at max settings

And i doubt you can get 2 desktops with the same power of the m15x with that. Unless with serious bargaining. Having said that, some people just need the portability of a powerful laptop.

The Alienware rigs, are gaming computers. Thats why its so easy to open. Advanced users may carefully overclock the components. Alienware systems are the most powerful systems Ive ever seen. And Ive seen MANY computers.

But its a shame Dell bought Alienware. With my experience with Dell, they dont have a high quality on theire computers. Still, Alienware desktops are the utlimate computer for extreme gamers.

@peterinfamilyguy Contrary to popular belief, Dell buying over alienware made it better and more successful, The old alienwares had many problems and not as good of a warrenty then dell. If you buy the full cover by dell, its pretty much a 'no questions asked' repair, and from the forums of m15x, half of them did not even use their 2 year warrenty yet.
