  • As far as I know (I'm Argentinian and spent many holidays in Welsh Patagonian colonies, the Welsh in my country never refused to learn Spanish and they think about themselves as Argentinians as well as Welsh.

The only language they refused to speak was English, for obvious reasons. They came here because of religious problems in Britain. They became very friendly with the Tehuelches (the people that this video call "indians").

    Greetings from Buenos Aires!

    Ch.

  • Lol only 750,000 talk Welsh now :(

  • Waw fidio diddorol iawn. Bydd rhaid i fi fynd i Trelew ar fy'n wyliau.

  • "Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau"

  • rwyn dod o cymru a galler siarad cymraeg. but i cant speak spanish i would love to learn spanish as well.

  • It´s called "Eisteddfod". Watch on youtube "Y Wladfa - (Patagonia)" by stifyn and read the information he furnishes.

  • Every year (I think during October) a Festival ( or so) of Welsh Gaelic Poetry takes place with the presence of Welsh poets and writers.

  • Around 1950 ish, there wer reckoned to be about 120000 Welsh speakers in Patagonia who spoke Welsh as a first language, but those numbers have fallen considerably, due to Central Govennment insisting that Spanish was taught at schools. I've no idea how many people speak Welsh today.

  • planetXObserver ¿can you repeat your cuestion in english? you traductor not help!

  • Wow I am surprised they don't speak the english language cool I wish I was in Argentina back in the day and speak Spanish and welsh good video.

  • yeah. really, hey?
