How many times does the United States have to be hit over the head with this problem before we wake up and understand it? We even have people in our Congress that understand it and they do absolutely nothing to educate the broad population about this existential threat to our civilization. Nothing.
@1776independent Im in the UK and we have exactly the same problem. This is all getting very real now, I think its safe to say there will be some other big signs by the end of the year.
What worries me, is like you say, our Governments cant NOT KNOW about this problem, Oil has always been finite, at no point has this problem gone away, and both of our countries have peaked in the past themselves, so they know whats happening. Just what do they intend to do about it?!
To whomever who posted this video: Is Peak oil now? I've done a lot of research on this and I see us at Peak now and next year the world will consume about 2% more than we produce. What do you think?
With China growing so fast, PO is coming sooner than expected. The US consumes more oil than China, Japan, Germany, Russia and India put together.
Saudi Arabia plans to add 200 billion barrels to its proven reserves. New paper reserves. Same thing for "America sitting on 200 billion barrels in ND." Oddly enough, it is always a 200 billion figure. So I trust R. Kerr's estimate (in 1998): sometime between 2010 and 2020 oil will peak at 80 m. barrels per day.
@mycatisromeo World Peak Oil was in 2006. The extraction figures are fake to avoid a swing towards other energy sources. OPEC extracts more water than oil. Currently the world needs around 90 bn barrels per year. This means that oil will be completely over in 2028-2030. No matter how deep you drill. The usable oil reserves are already in production. What they'll find miles deep below the seafloor is a lot of sulfur-contaminated dirt that needs lots of processing to become useful as fuel.

We are at "peak dollar" for sure.
