Ron Paul could find out who wrote it if he wanted to. He must have records of his business and campaigns. There must be payroll info, tax info, or checks written to a contractor. He said that this was his newsletter, not someone elses. So did Ron Paul overlook racism earlier in his career? Or can he prove who the writer was, and prove that this person no longer works with or for him. Prove it!

No questionable retoric in any of the books he's written, interviews he's given, speeches, no slips of the tongue, or red flags, no subtle innuendo in discussions with the 100's of congressmen in the congress like his close friend Dennis Kuchinich. It may be that some of these comments sound worse when presented here than they do when read in context. If so, then it could be that there was no reason to bring them to his attention.

That may not be the case for them all, but the "animals" one in particular sounds more like generic "post-apocalyptic" fear-mongering ("things are getting bad out there!") than racism. It's still not the best comment to make, but it could just be referring to criminals in general.
