@729rina the only time i've seen them do this is wen they are spooked NEVER for fun they do this to defend themselves when there is something on their back and they cant get it off or are scared of it
These horses get used for two years max, and are then disposed of, most often to be killed and sent to hungry savages in Europe who get a boner for horse meat. It's all a sad charade. I only feel sorry for the horses, never a jocky or groom who gets hurt or killed.
This horse got put down a while ago after being considered to dangerous to handle but after being put to sleep he was found to have a brain tumor. Shame he was a beautiful horse and he was just in pain that's all.
That happened because of the rider. In the beggining, he kept moving his feet everywhere, which is completely wrong. That probably spooked the horse. I hope that idiot never does that again
good horse - told em what for! they race them too young anyway - good to see a young un stand up for themselves! it is unreal what they put one and two year olds thru! Totally wrong!
@phrinv totally agree, i hate how young they fource them to race, so often there retired by 5 or 6 because there legs are wrecked! but i must say the riders vaulting skills are pretty impressive!
no one seems to notice that the horse jumps in the air when the jocky tried to put his legs on... race horses are terribly sensetive when it comes to legs on... I an tell cause I trained an ex racer to relaxe when I put my legs on... it took me almost a year..poor animal, I really don't understand why people have to combine sport with stress when animals are involved...please, work from relaxation to achievements not from stress to pain...peace to all...
Scary, that happened to my friend, cantering for a dressage comp, entered, got to the bit with the canter, he was fine, then bam flipped himself, landed on her leg. it was terrifying
I think this is a lesson to all the anti-race mob that if a horse really doesn't want to do something it just won't do it. I have an ex flat racer & if he doesn't want to work there isn't a hope in hell of making him. We haven't had a back flip (yet) though.
@cesstable If he didnt want to do something painful, he wouldn't have launched himself onto his back. He probably did more damage there than he did in any race he ever ran.
Geezzz you tree huggers trip me out. I have worked with horses since I was a kid and just because this horse lauches himself over back wards doesnt mean that he has been abused... There are some horses that would like to hurt people...
haha Yeah you're right. But I don't think the horse wanted to hurt the rider I think it reared but wasn't expecting to go flipping backwards. Probably didn't realize it's own strength.
Goodness, I agree that a violent reaction usually comes from a violent experience, but I also well know that some horse are just somthing else! Though often a competitive industry encourage horse misuse. And this one, for all we know had a bee under the saddle blanket.
This horse has received in the past a very very traumatic training, he definitely was severely abused and something trigger a fear which explains his reaction. Nothing crazy about this horse, I never met a crazy horse, only crazy brutal people who train them and ruin them . This is a perfect example of what crazy people can make out of a good horse
i researched this that horse actually had a brain tumor and no one really knew, so it really hurt him all the time.

are you sure the jumping/rearing isn't caused by the rider, hitting the horse his behind? My former pony reacted the same way as this one on it.
