ive worked on grain bins most of my life. built them (many of them) filled them unloaded them and anything else this video is a joke the only danger is your snot will be black for a few hours.
@wildfootfan94 it doesnt unload that fast probably nothing would happen, but the danger is sometimes there can be a hollow spot in the grain and if you fall in it would suck you in like quick sand within seconds and "drown" you, last year a friend of mines brother was unloading a semi of grain and he was at the back unloading it when his hat fell in, he climbed in to get it but the flow of the grain unloading sucked him in and suffocated him before anybody could help
@brockallen If there is no grain stuck (and no running unloading equipment) there is no issue. Dry grain flows easily. Wet grain does not and forms heaps which are unstable and will collapse unexpectedly. If you believe otherwise would you please educate us how a bin of dry grain with no running unloading equipment is dangerous?
If you copy 'Grain Drain (1975, Voiceover - Keith Barron)' and paste it into YouTube, you'll get an old UK information film making it plain that one immediate threat that these silos etc. always pose is that of drowning, because of the relatively low density of the grain, the sheer depth of it, etc. I have to say that this is one of the most reprehensibly stupid jackass stunts I've ever seen, especially as it's framed as some kind of fun game or something.
@RussMoxham You can only drown in a bin if the grain was stored too wet causing it to flow poorly (ie: sudden shifts will occur because it is stuck in very large tall heaps). Yes, I know the dangers of bins, I have had to climb in through the roof to unload bins that had grain which was too wet causing the bottom man-hole to be covered and making us unable to open it. Climbing into a bin while unloading it without open floor space is just dumb and asking for trouble of course.
I just lost two close friends last week because they fell in a grain bin. How stupid can you guys be. Think of your families and friends next time you do it. The friends I lost were 14 and 19 and were working. not messing around. They lost their lives and you two are just having fun.
Pretty ignorant, but not THAT dangerous. The silo was probably on their farm and wasn't going to be loaded/unloaded anytime soon. Most deaths in silos come from cleaning the grain stuck to the walls, those deaths happen because the victim is standing underneath the grain.
Really, this is no more dangerous than walking across a grain filled hopper trailer. They will feel like they have a cold for a couple of days though, going in without a dust mask.
this is suck a fuckin dumb vid, ok it might be fun well if it is make a pill of grain outside and one os my close friend that have worked on a farm to 35 years just died from cleaning a silo and i witnessed it all it happend so fast i could even relize wat happend so think about that one of ur best friends that u hang out with everyday f ur life no longer there to help u and give u advice gone for ever and ever u fucking idiots
My friend was killed in a grain silo because he was hiding from a beaver that had chased him up there. Usually, he would have been the one chasing beaver but since it was dark, he mistook the little critter for a bear.
this video should be removed from youtube .....It could give stupid ideas to others...and its no fun to watch knowing so many people have died cleaning silos
Firstly, falling off that silo would kill them. Secondly, if the unloading mechanism had started while they wore down there they would have been caught buried under tonns of grain and suffocated to death. This is the most common work-related death among grain farmers. Thirdly, when the grain dust enters your longues it sticks and never comes out. A sane worker would never enter that silo without a line attached to his waist and a gas-mask.
@tcl54414 How the fuck is that??? Just because kid's live on a farm, and decide to have some fun with what they have doesnt mean that their parents a related. Your a dumb ass.

LOL, a lot of the people commenting are stupid as hell. As long as the auger isn't running there is no danger.

@Dbane567 Wet grain will cause a problem, but yes, in dry grain there is no issue as long as there is no running unloading equipment.
