  • hahahahhaha woman driving is dangerous forever hahahahhaha

  • Desire Wilson often turns out to race the '60's GT cars at Goodwood Revival each year, she sure can peddle a big V8 GT! She's normally running in top 5 for lap times with much younger / more famous drivers. She never had competitive kit when she was trying for F1.

  • How come they don't run Indy cars at Pocono anymore?

  • @SwanKong11 after several bad wrecks they decided that Pocono was too fast and dangerous for Indycars, do to it's long straights and sharp corners. Personally I think this should be one of the ovals the Indycar Series should race on, but they'd be going even faster today.

  • @erasetoimprove

Actually It was not the speed that caused them to stop going. It was the condition of the track at the time, which was just terrible. Look at the 1987 Pocono 500 video thats on youtube and keep an eye out for Mario's crash to see what I'm talking about. The track has since been greatly improved so as not to lose their Nascar dates, and I think it would be fantastic to see the Indycars back there again soon.

  • @MatchstickSLR good point. Actually Pocono was just forced to make improvements over this off season because it was still producing some terrible crashes in NASCAR. There were bad angled walls in the infield and the grass down there was pretty bumpy, plus there was still no catch fence on the back straightaway. So Pocono is definitely a track that has been behind the ball, in terms of safety, for a while. It still puts on one hell of a show though.

  • @erasetoimprove No it hasn't. Pocono's problem of late is the cars are too fast. There is no need for a catch fence on the Long Pond straight and they should never have knuckled under to NASCAR on that. The grass is not an issue and people nedd to stop pretending it ever is. If they want to improve safety, plate the cars.

  • @STP43FAN1 what is it with you and thinking restrictor plates are the solution to all? No point in arguing I don't think we'll ever agree, and I respect your opinion... but yeesh! It's not the only, or best way to slow down cars to begin with. Only reason NASCAR sticks to it is because the people who think a 4 wide parking lot and a 25 car wreck every race is fun to watch would stop watching NASCAR without plate racing.

  • @erasetoimprove Because the plates ARE the solution. The racing is superior and it is safer because the speeds are restricted to what the tracks can handle. It's by far the only way to slow the cars down and KEEP the speeds down. And there is no racing that is more competitve - even IRL's drafting battles at Texas, Chicago, Kentucky, and Kansas lack a certain something compared to Daytona and Talladega at their best. That;s not a knock on those IRL races - they are magnificent races.

  • @MatchstickSLR They stopped going because the Mattiolis were losing money hosting CART.

  • indyfan22k, hahahahahah...sho your right!!

  • She helps with track safety in her husband, Alan Wilson's track designing company

  • indy fan youre a bitch

  • desire wilson a good driver I watched her finish high up in the points at Mallory park in the UK WITHOUT A CLUTCH thats when they had to drive the cars with a proper shift, not with all the devices they have now. She was as good as any of them in the right car, a brilliant export from South Africa

  • Actually, Desiree wasn't that bad of a driver. She won a non-pints Aurora F1 event in 1980 and also won a couple world sportcar events. Unfortunately, in CART she made the unfortune decision to pick a new eagle chassis over a new March for the '82 indy 500. The car she crashed there was a year old march. She did finish 10th at cleveland earlier that year.

  • Is Wilson a female driver?

  • Is that Gordy helping Paul Page call the race?

  • Yes indeed.
