The economic mess is a big monster that has to be defeated first before we make these non essential expenditures attractive in the fiscal conservative society we live in.
Again, do your research. You're wrong on "i haven't seen any people from deaf schools that have gone to big state universities"- I know several who went to PRIVATE universities such as DePaul U, NYU, Stanford, USC, UCLA and many others. The same technology you speak of is available at residential schools just as at mainstream schools- that is not unique. What is unique is the *bonding experience* that mainstreamers like you or I don't have. I'm just sorry more people don't support history.
@MsMackie31 so the fact that i went to a deaf school for several years. i was lonely as hell. i had more fun when i went to public schools. speaking of technology, the point is that many public schools can offer the same thing as deaf schools for deaf students. i am VERY lucky that i wear CI and am able to hear alot and can speak just fine. right, i haven't seen any deaf people that have gone to big schools in my area, so i think i have the right to say abit about that part.
@uhurstupid also, bonding is definitely up to anyone. anyone can be isolated or be involved. no one is going to guide anyone to bond with their peers. it's up to them. if a deaf student ends up lonely, it's their fault. they aren't being aggressive enough and chose to stay away from their peers.
@uhurstupid: your comments were definitely, as you said, biased. Nothing in this video is stating that a deaf school is the only way to go or that mainstream schools are worthless! The deaf school is utterly tied to the Deaf culture and a mainstay to keeping Deaf people connected to each other throughout their lives. I'm a mainstream product- and I wish I had the experience these residential schoolers had. Do your research on ASL and Deaf Culture, then you'll understand, dude. Thanks.
@MsMackie31 haha i have done both. so don't tell me to do on ASL and "Deaf Culture". i turned out just fine when i graduated from a mainstream high school. i am attending a big state university. i haven't seen any people from deaf schools that have gone to big state universities. there's so much technology out there today, all little deaf children have much more access to their education. this video pretty much stated the concept of deaf people have to stick together or it will die out.
@uhurstupid also, my comment wasn't biased. i didn't say mainstream or deaf school was the best option. i've seen some success and failures in both. so please don't tell me that my comments were biased.
This is the one best of all I have ever seen! I may consider to join membership in order to advocate for saving every State of Deaf school(s) in North America.
this is obviously a biased video. i've seen some success in deaf children that went to mainstream schools, yes. i have seen some failure in those schools too. that doesn't mean deaf schools are better. i've seen some deaf students did well but some did not. so this is video is obviously worthless and doesn't deserve any credit.
Honestly, most politicians are liars. Let suppose, you ask them, "Will you close the deaf school?” they normally would response "No". Historically, we tend ease our alertness then all the sudden, they decide to close the school. What's more, they tend make the plan behind our back, or plan long time without our knowledge. They take advantage of this because we can’t hear. I don't recommend you trusting them. You need to stay your guard up all the time, and play hard.
